The ever growing Sydney MMA scene has just received its biggest push to date with the birth of brand new org Sydney Fighting Championship.

The first event is set for April, 6th headlined by a MW fight between blue chip prospects Mikel Page and Maximo Bonini.

Co-Main event is a firework-assured HW clash featuring top org fighter and Slam-Knock Out machine Mark "Angry Tongan" Hunter who's riding a three fight KO-win streak including one head kick KO and two slams KOs, against former Division 1 NCAA wrestler Samoa Joe who scored a quick 1st round stoppage win in his MMA debut last week.

Sydney FC Prospect Watch: Mark "Angry Tongan" Hunter <http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=312646>

Record: 3-1-0

Slam knockouts are among the rarest moves ever in MMA competition. Few fighters are able to even pull off this move in training, let alone in a fight, with force enough to score a KO. From Frank Shamrock to Quinton Rampage, not too many fighters have a slam KO in ther resume. So what would you say of two? Now how about two consecutive Slam-KO wins?

This is what Sydney FC HW fighter Mark “Angry Tongan” Hunter pulled off in his last two fights, adding to a three fight KO-win streak that also saw him score a head kick KO.

“Angry Tongan” will be fighting in the Co-Main event of Sydney FC first ever show, “Birth”, on April 6th.

Sydney FC Prospect Watch: Samoa Joe <http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=313198>

Record: 1-0-0

A former Division 1 NCAA competitor with superb wrestling, Samoa Joe is described by his manager as a "typical hard nosed wrestler", which means this experienced high level athlete is a hard working, tough as nails prospect who's able to grind his opponents to exhaustion and win fights by attrition, imposing his will over his man.

On top of that quality, this 6'4" natural HW showed in his profesional MMA debut that he might have a knack for hurting his opponents with punches and elbows as well, as he busted open his opponent's face with a variety of strikes en route to a quick 1st round stoppage. Joe also landed one takedown in his lone attempt in the short lived contest, and showcased to the crowd his confidence with an ambitious post fight speech.

According to his manager, Joe is in talks with Sydney FC for the promotion first ever HW title fight, with his battle against Mark "Angry Tongan" Hunter posibly serving as a title eliminator.

Samoa Joe will be fighting in the Co-Main event of Sydney FC first ever show, “Birth”, on April 6th.

Sydney FC 1: Birth Preview Show

Main Event - 185 lbs - Mikel Page vs. Maximo Bonini

Page is making his profesional debut and at 25 years old vs. a tender 18 of his opponent, has considerably better skills. Bonini is a well rounded, yet unexperienced brawler. Both fighters have some hype surrounding them due to their endless potential and personality. Height is even but Page is naturally bigger and Bonini is coming in with low morale after losing his pro debut.

Pick: Mikel Page by decision

Co-Main Event - 265 lbs - Mark Hunter vs. Samoa Joe

Mark "Angry Tongan" Hunter showcased some real finishing abilities and legit KO power in his QFC run and is coming off a three fight (T)KO win streak. Samoa Joe is a high level wrestler who's coming off a stoppage win of his own. This is a compelling, competitive matchup that looks to be the people's main event and according to the word on the street, might be a HW title eliminator. Anything can happen in this one.

Pick: Samoa Joe by decision

135 lbs - Dilaan Dinnis vs. Supertuk Halaptung

Dinnis is younger and less experienced in profesional combat sports, but has a sizeable advantage in the grappling department. Supertuk has the edge in muay thai but is still a fairly one dimensional mixed martial artist. Dinnis is considerably bigger but might not come into the fight with 100% energy.

Pick: This writer is involved in this matchup, will refrain from weighing in on this one.

185 lbs - Jack Souza vs. Scott Reeder

Highly competitive matchup, yet another example of SFC owner Billy Deegan's matchmaking skills. Both fighters are even in size, age and experience - this one will be close! Whoever wins, it will be by razor thin decision. The biggest gap in skill here is Souza's advantage in muay thai. He also is training at a higher level facility in brand new gym Kangaroos MMA Gym.

Pick: Same as above.

155 lbs - Ahmad Safwan vs. Tuny Fergossun

Safwan is younger and at 190cm/6'2" and weighing in 156 lbs, has a rather bizarre body shape. Fergossun is considerably shorter and will probably look to fight at boxing range where he'll be able to showcase his best skills. Both fighters prefer to fight on the feet but Safwan might look to take it to the ground if he's really gameplan-savy. Anyway this one has all the makings of an exciting stand up war.

Pick: Fergossun by 3rd round TKO

Sydney FC 1: "Birth" Recap Show

Main Event - 185 lbs - Mikel Page vs. Maximo Bonini

Complete domination by Mikel Page. He attempted and landed three takedowns, each within the first seconds of each round, and spent the entirety of the fight throwing submission attempts and punishing Bonini with ground and pound, having rocked his opponent with punches in the first round, and earning a 10-8 score from all three judges in the third. Bonini literally didn't do anything and is now left with his morale at the lowest levels after dropping his second decision in as many career fights. Page is poised to be a force in SFC's MW division with his blend of size, wrestling and granite chin.

Co-Main Event - 265 lbs - Mark Hunter vs. Samoa Joe

Great performace by Samoa Joe scoring a pretty big win in his second profesional fight. He landed 5 of 6 takedown attempts and the fight was contested mostly on the ground where he put a hurting on Mark Hunter with 46 ground strikes landed according to MMA Tycoon fight statistics. On the feet, Joe avoided Hunter's power and relied on body punches repeatedly to wear down his opponent en route to a dominant, impressive win.

135 lbs - Dilaan Dinnis vs. Supertuk Halaptung

Dinnis did a great job in his profesional debut, landing four takedowns and taking the fight to the ground for the most part, where he had his best chance to win, as shown by his impressive 13 submissions attempts. He also showed good composure dealing with Supertuk's kicks. Supertuk on the other hand showcased undeniable heart, having survived almost 30 sub attempts in his first two MMA fights. He scored with strikes from the clinch and gorgeous kicks to all levels, but keeps spending too much time on the ground for his own good. In a very controversial decision, Supertuk took the 3rd round in all scorecards despite spending almost the entire frame getting dominated in side control by Dinnis. One would wonder if the judges were shy of scoring a close bout in favor of Dinnis because of his ties to SFC owner Billy Deegan?

185 lbs - Jack Souza vs. Scott Reeder

One of the best fights of the night, with the absolutely evenly matched foes standing toe to toe on the feet trading punches as well as showing good skills on the ground. Reeder surprised with an impressive counter boxing game, connecting clean with Souza's jaw several times and scored two takedowns leading into his nine submission attempts, all of them denied by the blue belt Jack Souza. Don't be fooled by the unanimous 30-27, this was a close fight that could've had a change of momentum at any time. Both fighters look to be top players in SFC's MW division from now on.

155 lbs - Ahmad Safwan vs. Tuny Fergossun

Fergossun earned KO of the night honors connecting with Safwan's good chin and getting rid of him in under two minutes. Fergossun instigated a few clinches for good measure but he looked keen to score with punching combos. With about one minute and a half into the fight he dropped Safwan with a combination, waved his man back to the feet and put him out with another combo. Really badass stuff. Safwan had problems making weight and didn't have the chance to do much in the fight.

Sydney FC 1: "Birth" Fight of the Night Recap

155 lbs - Finn Balor vs. Chaslov Westlum

Westlum had the balls to stand and bang with the remarkable boxer Balor, putting on a show that had the Micro Arena crowd in Sydney cheering from the first exchanges up to the dramatic finish. He pushed forward since the first bell with big punching combos but as expected, Balor got the better of the boxing exchanges. Westlum kept pushing forward though, countering and attacking and mixing takedown attempts until one finally landed around the one minute mark in the second round.

From then on, Westlum was perfect with his ground and pound, landing 11 of 11 ground strikes, rocking Balor and finishing with elbows and punches from side control. Balor still figures to be a key player in SFC's LW division, while Westlum, now turned into "Shinsuke Nakamura", will fight for the inaugural Sydney FC 155 pounds belt in SFC 3.

Sydney FC 1: "Birth" - First FIght Ever

265 lbs - Alistaar Uberveem vs. Harrison Summer

The first fight in Sydney FC history. In a classic striker vs. grappler matchup, it was up to dutch boxer Alistaar Uberveem and South African grappler Harrison Summer to hold the honors. In a cleverly set up throwback fight reminiscent of MMA's earliest days, Summer immediately looked to clinch and take it to the ground while Uberveem tried to say on the feet and hurt his opponent with strikes. It would be a quick, dramatic birth to Sydney FC.

Harrison Summer achieved a clinch within a few seconds and tried to hold Uberveem against the cage. They broke the clinch but Summer kept trying to get a hold of his foe, attempting four takedowns in the limited duration of the contest. When Uberveem put his hands on him though, Summer didn't have an answer. With one minute into the fight, the dutch striker connected with a series of hooks to the body and head, and then floored Summer with a quick combo. He allowed Summer to stand up, and kept throwing hands until an uppercut through the guard finished Summer, knocked out cold against the cage in brutal fashion.

Sydney FC Prospect Watch: Darcy Dugan <http://mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=313462>

Record: 2-0-0

Dugan hails from New South Wales, Australia, where he had a rough upbringing and found himself involved in small time criminal activities and didn't have a lot of options job wise. Used to a fist fight from a young age, he took up amateur boxing as a means to earn some bucks, and local promoters were quick to spot his heavy hands and granite chin.

Now polished with training in a high level MMA gym, Dugan is up to a promising start to his profesional career, having scored two (T)KO wins in his first two fights in under one minute and a half combined. His next challenge will be a HW headlining fight in Sydney FC 2, against dangerous New Jersey grappler Larry "Hard" Lard, who is coming off a win of his own in his debut.

Darcy Dugan will be fighting in the Main Event of Sydney FC 2, on April, 15th

Sydney FC Prospect Watch: Taulua "The Volcano" Fautanua <http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=313408>

Record: 2-0-0

Fautanua is an accomplished grappler from the Pohnpei Island in Micronesia who dabbled with capoeira but really found a home in grappling based martial arts. He is a competent wrestler and holds a brown belt in BJJ, and he's put these accolades to good use in his short MMA carrer, having submitted both of his opponents in QFC.

The most stunning fact of his young career: Eager to fight, Fautanua didn't shy away from booking two QFC fights for the same day! On March, 25th, he defeated dutch striker James Richard, relaxed in the locker room for a little bit, then came back to the cage to take care of prospect Gerry Garza. Fautanua showcased his elite grappling skills in both fights, scoring a multitude of takedowns, guard passes and submission attempts as well as effective ground and pound against his opponents. His next challenge is a highly anticipated matchup with brazilian wrestler Jouzee Alddo, who will try to be the first to match "The Volcano" in the grappling department.

Taulua "The Volcano" Fautanua will be fighting in the Co-Main Event of Sydney FC 2, on April, 15th

Sydney FC Prospect Watch: Palaktingpuet Payakarakatong <http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=313254>

Record: 2-0-0

Taken from the streets of Bangkok under the wings of rogue muay thai manager Theksit Ruengruong, Palaktingpuet ("The Fearless Dragon" in thai) had a different journey than most nak muays. Despite coming up in the famed Jitmuangnon Gym, he was taken care of by his manager and didn't have to cater to the gym or the gamblers' interests. That way, he was able to distinguish himself from most modern era muay thai fighters as an exciting, fan favorite 'muay mat' (agressive fighter), in the midst of a sea of clinch-heavy stylists.

When it became clear that Mr. Ruengruong was moving his fighters to MMA, Palaktingpuet was cast aside by most promoters, and despite being ranked in the top five at 122 lbs in both Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadium, he never got a title shot, having to resort to giving up ridiculous ammounts of weight advantage to his opponents to even get meaningful fights. He lost a string of shady decisions and gave up muay thai for good after a contentious loss at Raja Stadium when the gamblers rioted after the decision was announced.

In his first two MMA fights, he was able to clinch rape both of his opponents, scoring an impressive TKO by way of gorgeous knees and elbows in his second career bout.

Palaktingpuet Payakarakatong will be fighting in Sydney FC 2, on April, 15th.

Sydney Fighting Championship 2 Preview Show

Main Event - 205 lbs - Darcy Dugan vs. Larry Lard

Dugan is a reformed small time criminal who was spotted fighting amateur boxing where his ability to take and dish out punishment impressed local promoters. He has a big edge in muay thai and is coming off two TKO wins in under one minute and a half combined. Lard scored a KO win of his own in his debut but will definitely look to take this one to the ground where he'll have the advantage with his proficient wrestling and purple belt in BJJ. Standing 5'2" tall with 210 lbs, Lard has a weird body shape and might be coming into the fight with low levels of energy.

Pick: Dugan by 2nd round KO

Co-Main Event - 145 lbs - Taulua Fautanua vs. Jouzee Alddo

A battle of grapplers here - Fautanua is a rare physical specimen with outstanding natural strenght who won two QFC fights in the same day to start his MMA career, showcasing impressive takedowns, submissions and ground and pound. Alddo is a superb wrestler in his own right, but younger and only making his debut tonight.

Pick: Fautanua by 3rd round submission

185 lbs - James Twinkle vs. Charles Vance

Twinkle has an impressive combo of muay thai + wrestling skills and will be facing a younger, less experienced foe in Vance. He is coming off a KO win in QFC while Vance is making his debut. They're about the same size, and Vance has a small advantage in BJJ.

Pick: Twinkle by 2nd round TKO

205 lbs - Chuck Lesnar vs. Matt St. Pierre

Two big LHWs making their debut. Lesnar is older and has a clear path to win here by using his wonderful boxing and respectable wrestling to keep it standing. St. Pierre has well rounded skills but none that stands out. His biggest advantage is in muay thai. Chuck Lesnar is fighting at home while Matt "Push" St. Pierre is flying across the globe from Rio de Janeiro to Sydney.

Pick: Lesnar by 1st round KO

205 lbs - Bon Bones vs. Hulas Kanodia

Another matchup featuring two debutants, with the two warriors being absolutely evenly matched in experience, size and skills. The only apparent gap in skill is Kanodia's edge in boxing, but frankly, it's a really small advantage. This one will be a toss up!

Pick: Bones by decision

265 lbs - David Campbell vs. Tim Arlovski

Two MMA virgins again, but this one features a more distinct tale of the tape with David "The Magician" Campbell being older and having a huge edge in grappling skills. Arlovski will certainly use all his stenghts to keep the contest on the feet, but Campbell's superb wrestling will be tough to deal with. If Arlovski manages to avoid the ground though, it can be trouble for his opponent as Campbell's striking skills are useless.

Pick: Campbell by 1st round submission

"Schoolboy Q" Quincy Hanley

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14880430135376.jpg

"Tyler Bate is the biggest pussy ever! What an excuse of a fighter! Running his mouth on buzz saying how he will beat me then ducking the fight after seeing what I did to Kim Possible. Is that a behavior of a future 3 division champion or a present pussy? I think the answer is obvious."
