NY Fight Nights 35 Preview

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1425627301NYFN35.jpg

Main event :
Arturo Atunes ( 16-2-0 ) vs Devin Styles ( 31-11-0 )

I’m very proud to present you the main event of NYFN 35. This is going to be one hell of a fight between one of the biggest talents in the game going up against a veteran top fighter. The only 23 year old Atunes messaged me that he would love to fight all the big names in the MMA world and that he would fight at NYFN If I could set it up. I reacted as soon as I could and soon the fight was set up and ready to go. Atunes is one hell of a gifted striker with 14 (t)KO victories. His opponent, Styles, is a top level striker as well with 24 (t)KO finishes. Both guys have finishing power to put anyone’s lights out. The question the entire world is wondering; “ Who will get his hand raised? “ . Will it be the challenger with the big balls or the veteran top dog who is eager to prove you don’t call him out without paying for it.. ? A very interesting fight and the result might send shockwaves through the division.

Co-main event:
Jonqw Fray ( 12-2-0 )vs Luigi Vercotti ( 11-3-0 )

Two of the top 155lbs fighters at NYFN will square off in the co-main event of the evening. It’s no secret that the winner of this fight very well might get the next shot at the current 155lbs champion Kolt Ganger. Fray is a submission specialist with 9 submission victories already on his mma-record, but don’t underestimate his standup. Vercotti is a dangerous and very promising fighter looking to upset Fray and get the job done once again. Will he dare to go to the ground with Fray ? We don’t know yet, but we’ll find out soon.

Nikolai Nation ( 9-2-0 ) vs Elijah Modnar ( 8-1-0 )

Another great 155lbs fight that will take place on the epic NYFN 35 event. The former and longtime 155lbs champion Nation fights Modnar. After losing his last two fights, Nation will be looking to end that streak and get back to the winning column. His elite boxing skills will for sure cause problems for anyone in the division and he has the power to finish as well. One thing he shoudn’t do is to take his opponent lightly . Modnar is a very complete fighter and is a ferocious striker with huge KO-power. Will one of those strikers try to take it to the ground to confuse his opponent and cause chaos? I think this very well might happen as soon as one of them feels a bit uncomfortable standing.

Hannibal Barca ( 4-0-0 ) vs Melcone Aisa ( 5-2-0 )

Both Barca and Aisa are 21 year old and look to have great future. Barca has an excellent Bjj background and the undefeated prospect has finished all of his opponent by way of submission, 3 being first round finishes. His opponent has a brown belt as well, but is mostly known for his finishing power. Aisa doesn’t like to take a fight to the judges and will be looking to finish quickly again . This fight has the potential to be very entertaining for sure.

Michael D’Amato ( 6-1-0 ) vs Stewart Hunter ( 8-1-1 )

This fight is another great one, as two 23year old prospects will look eachother in the eyes when the cage door locks. D’Amato is a top level boxer with KO-power in both hands. He’ll be looking to add one more finish to his impressive mma-record, but he can’t take his opponent lightly as he’s a superb fighter as well, who’ll be looking to finish the fight as well. This one is guaranteed fireworks, but the question is “ Will the fight be finished on the ground or standing? “

Danny Ciprianni ( 2-1-0 ) vs The Sandman ( 3-0-0 )

Two 20year old awesome prospects will go to battle. Ciprianni is a wellrounded fighter with both good standup and groundwork. His standup might be what he’ll be trying to use the most when he fights the Sandman, and he’ll need his sensational wrestling to stay standing. The sandman is a highly skilled BJJ-artist, with 3 first round submission victories. If the fight goes to the ground, the chances of the blackbelt getting his hand raised will increase rapidly .

Robert Owinashi ( 10-7-1 ) vs Anderson Silva Jr. ( 12-4-0 )

The big boys will most likely make this a standup war. Owinashi is the older fighter, but doesn’t have much more fights than Silva Jr. They both like to finish fights, and are more than capable of doing so, but they also have been finished themselves. The fighter who will have the most heart and the best headmovement will get his hand raised after another (t)KO finish I assume.

Claude Bouchard ( 1-0-0 ) vs Derek Gaines ( 2-1-0 )

Bouchar will be looking to keep the fight standing against Gaines, as the latter is a brownbelt in BJJ. Obviously his opponent will want to take the fight to the ground, but giving his lack of experience in wrestling, it will be interesting to see how he can get there.

Uri Haber ( 2-0-0 ) vs Craig Jones ( 2-1-0 )

Both these young fighters have a bright future ahead of them. It will be interesting to see where the fight takes place. Both guys have good BJJ, but in the standup, it looks like Haber would be the favorite. Who of these young guns will come up with the best gameplan and will be able to dictate where the fight takes place? We’ll find out soon.

Malik Shabazz ( 1-2-0 ) vs John Henry ( 9-6-0 )

Both guys are great strikers, but Shabazz has the edge in striking, so Henry might look to take the fight to the ground and submit him. Shabazz hasn’t had a very active career so far, so It’s anyone’s guess how he’ll do once he steps into the cage again. Will ring rust be a factor or will he be ready to battle his opponent?

Breaking news:

Peel Steel has been seen pacing up and down the lobby of his Manhattan hotel floor with his entourage, KC Cooper, Jeff Ramirez, and Taco Bueno looking bewildered.

Ramirez "Peel, you gotta decide soon man, Arturo needs to know what's happening?"

KC "He's right Peel, Arturo must have a game plan for Styles, this isn't the minors now Peel."

Peel "For fucks sake, he can do the lot, we know that, but fuck, what if he cant land the KO and we go long."

Kc "He can KO him coming in, he will look to take Arturo out."

Peel "We thought that with Keller, and Lopette! Fuck this shit, Jeff come on man lets get hammered and decide then."

Peel leaves for the pub, 8 pints of Carling, and a packet of Pork Scratchings usually guarantee a loss.

He's still the best light-heavyweight in the world outside of Tiago Renato IMO.

I agree w/ Dinooo though, Atunes showed a lot of promise in that fight....getting gassed in the 1st round and making it the decision was pretty impressive

Looks more like a MW now.

I'm hoping to get my guy Riccuito in that picture, big fight against Renato coming up http://mmatycoon.com/scoutfight.php?fida=177936&fidb=206370

Arturo Atunes answers questions following his 3 round decision loss to Devin Styles..

Reporter: "Arturo, congratulations on a great fight, fight of the night award, how you feeling right now?"

Arturo "I am OK, it was tough fight, Styles proved again why everyone talks so highly of him, but he came out the cage knowing he was in a fight, NYFN fans loved, Bjorn made a ton of cash, and everyone knows who I am now, not just who Devin Styles is."

Reporter "Many experts thought Styles would walk through you, do you feel you have convinced the sceptics that you are a genuine force at middleweight?"

Arturo "Yeh, hopefully, I proved to everyone my chin is OK and I got heart. I also think its down to the camp you come from. You look at the top guys in the world and you see the same camps or alliances dominating because they have the wisdom on training their guys. I come from a camp that is successful in the minors but no one has ever done much on the world scene."

Reporter "Styles is a beast and proved he is still at his best, did anything about him surprise you?"

Arturo "No, not really, maybe now he threw so many body shots, thought he might head hunt, but we expected takedowns and aggression, but hey, its a learning curve."

Reporter "There were stories of the Peel camp being is disarray just hours before the fight, what was happening?"

Arturo "I wasn't there, in the room, but KC, Jeff and Peel were arguing about something. Peel rang Bjorn, Sullivan think he even rang Jorma. Think there a few different ideas on how I should handle Devin."

Reporter "Top camps have come forward saying you showed great potential last night, do you find solace in those comments?"

Arturo "Yeh, I was flattered when I heard Dean and Sean being interviewed by ESPN, that was cool, I lost the fight but won respect, so that is cool."

Reporter "What is next Arturo?"

Arturo "Rest, then see what offers come in. Jangles in CCF will be looking for a rematch soon I would think, and that is a tough fight, Bjorn did a great job here, and SYN's new management team have made enquiries to Peel, so we will have to see, but I figure CCF, NYFN and SYN will be where I fight from here on."

Reporter "Thanks for the Interview Arturo, shame you are with such a average camp in my opinion, if you could rip up your contract with Peel and sign with a top manager, would you?"

Arturo "(smiles) I cant answer that."

Great fight guys! Congrats to both of you. Styles proved once again that he is a top fighter and Atunes showed that he is one hell of a great prospect!

It was an honor to have you guys as a main event at NYFN and you are both welcome to steal the show whenever you want :)

How much did you make? :D
