wonkey
In my first fight, I had a brawler against a guy who focused on the ground game. My strategy on the ground was to either stand up or delay until the ref stood us up. After a close split decision, I lost by one point. I got most of the standing points, and he got the ground points. I guess from now on, I'll be more agressive, even in my weak zone. Here's where I think the ref should have stood us up, and I probably would have won. [Where's the quote button?] Start Quote: That's two minutes gone in the round. Marvin takes a shot right to the bread basket. Pendragon scores a takedown into full mount! This has been an exciting period of action! Marvin tries to lock up and control but Pendragon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Pendragon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Marvin is looking to get to half guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Pendragon controlling the pace for now. Marvin flailing away with punches but nothing is landing. Marvin is trying to escape the mount. Pendragon controlling the pace for now. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Marvin working to try and regain half guard. Pendragon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marvin is looking to escape. Marvin tries to hold on but Pendragon pushes him away. Pendragon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Marvin is looking to improve his position but Pendragon isn't that keen on the idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners. End Quote I mean, c'mon ref!!!
MMATycoon
which is your guy?
wonkey
oops, sorry. My guy is Pendragon. But I guess it doesn't really matter, cause I was wondering why there wasn't a ref stand up, which involves both guys. Obviously, as far as points, the rest of the match was far more important than just this section. MMATycoon
It mattered cos of figuring out why there wasn't a standup, in terms of your tactics... There are different types of standups. One for inactivity from both guys, then one for inactivity from one or the other. The are no standups from mount as long as the guy on top is doing SOMETHING and scoring points. It's scoring you points because you're successfully controlling but I'll look into it in a bit more detail when I get some time to make sure that if you do nothing but control from mount then it stands you up anyway, even if you are scoring points. From your guy's tactics point of view, where did you set the standup vs stay on ground slider? It's weird that he didnt stand up.
wonkey
I was almost totally on stand up, but I think I read in the help somewhere that you have it set that it's really hard to stand up from mount, so it's generally not done
MMATycoon
Its hard to stand up when you're mounted but it's weird that it did not stand up when you were the guy doing the mounting.
Guest
You dont think the common sense factor would have made him stay in mountain because its such a dominant position? It would be even more likely if you had it more "see how it goes" and "swing for the fences", then "stick to gameplan", am I right?
MMATycoon
Those would have an effect, yeah. Medium / long term there will be changes to the fight engine to adjust aggression based on being in a dominant / bad position, which would solve this issue.
