What a fight!!! Congrats to the new champ!

Robin Van Doen posted on social media:

So many doubters comming into this one. Yet I left no questions unanswered. They talked about me being depressed or something, not realising I used that as fuel.

Complete domination last night, should be performance of the night. And I'm only starting.

Doen certainly showed me and Donkey!!! Donkey had an off night of predictions that's for sure, and this was one of the bigger ones! Congrats.

After his round 1 win over Bobolo Jubbly the now 2-1 Rey Bargos made his way to the media center with Shadow Warrior sports drink in hand. A very jubilant Bargos sat down in his Ma Balls is Hot gear. He looked like he had just went for a stroll through the park not a fist fight.

Media - Rey tonight you proved again that the fans and media just cannot count you out. How good did it feel to not only win but to win in that fashion?

Bargos - Knockouts get everyone's attention but honestly I was just in a zone. I feel like I've grown so much lately. Tonight was good.

Media - Everyone was talking about his ground game and even Donkey had money on you getting submitted. You stuffed all six of his takedown attempts. How did it feel to be able to control where this fight went.

Bargos - Man, ( takes a drink) that was more nerve wracking than anything. I really want to be a great fighter and every time I make that walk I am nervous and fearful but lately I've been confident. I knew if I could stuff his takedowns that there wasn't any other way he could win. I told everyone that I am now these last two fights getting elite private training and it's showing as I am 2-0 at Project Training gym. To answer your question though I knew after that first takedown got stuffed that I had him beat but I had to maintain and be on my toes. I could just feel that I was stronger.

Media - You and your manager had talked about calling someone out after the fight but then you just thanked the fans, what happened there?

Bargos - I have a name in mind but I want to be patient. I decided that I am going to hold off on that name and keep focusing on getting better.

Media - You have one fight left on your contract after tonight, that's public knowledge but what isn't public knowledge is your plans going forward. Is this your long term home?

Bargos - ( Shakes head yes) Being here has done wonders for my career and to be honest I don't think I would have been this successful elsewhere. They put me in there with the now Champ and I proved my mettle. I couldn't be finished by him and since then I have ramped up my training and now I am on a tear!! I'm not sure who is next for me but I definitely want that contract extension.

Media - Your first two fights here you came out wearing plain black shorts and a goonies tee but tonight you came out wearing a shirt and shorts from the Ma Balls is Hot signature line. Are you now getting sponsored?

Bargos - ( Laughs ) It's funny because I was watching the preview show and they mentioned my Goonies tee and I looked at my coach who hates that shirt and I knew I needed to dress like a pro fighter. So while in Sydney I visited up MBIH and bought some gear then after the fight they approached my manager with a sponsorship offer. So I guess wearing their gear and getting the win guided me to it.

Media - The last question to ask is what's next for you? You isn't call anyone out but how soon before we could see you back in the cage?

Bargos- Hopefully not too soon. The thing that has helped me is that I've been given time between fights to learn and grow. When I started out in KT my problem was that I rushed into every fight. Now in mma I am slowing down , I have good coaches and I have a winning record. I am however excited to keep going. Tonight was a lot of fun after the fact and I feel like now people will stop doubting me. I have put a lot of time into this and now it's paying off. Before I go I want to thank Dark Knight Nutrition and MBIH Clothing for sponsoring me. I want to thank all my training partners at Project Training on Los Angeles and I want to thank my coaching staff, without them I am nothing. Thanks everyone!!

With that Rey stepped down and made his way to the back.

Alright folks, here is the first set of rankings for the Lightweights as they join all of the other divisions with all of our Sorter Series tournaments now complete!.

As I've said every time, I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I do put a lot of effort in when looking at the fighters in the divisions. I'm not a big believer in P4P or WC rankings for ID Restricted orgs, and certainly not for newer ones unlike, let's say, 340k which would be more established and the fighters would usually have a lot more fights under their belts. Instead, I tend to look much more closely at overall skill ratings, records in and out of the org, who they've fought, ID, age, etc. both when setting up the rankings as well as when I do the matchmaking. Just know that while it may not be perfect, and while this may not closely match the listing if you look at the org's division by hype/pop, WC rank or P4P rank, there has been a lot of thought and time spent on it! But hey, if you disagree, let's chat...but just know that a throat punch or kick to the taint is not beneath me! LOL!

I'm posting them here, but the current rankings for each division as they are established will always be available here: http://www.mmatycoon...=65096&p=910173

Enjoy!

SP-Rankings-155-20200812.png

Featherweights unranked outside the Top 10 at this time, but on the bubble: Bobolo Jubbly / Frank Carey / Guy River / Montesh Dominguez

Also unranked outside the Top 10 at this time: Veljko Bakocevic / Ko Artist / Raleigh St. Clair / Rock Lee / Robin Van Doen / Mike Snot / Kira Yoshikage

Mr Takahashi: Yes we see he finish in ten seconds, Longsun took at least twice as long as that to finish with Miss Sophia Gunderson.

Slick Gunderson, translating for Slick Gunderson: Hare, Donkey, I'd like to formally request Herb Dean to be the referee for Psiris' highly-anticipated destruction of Longsun Zhao next week. We want to make sure Psiris can get in as many extra punches as possible to end Longsun definitively and shut Takahashi up. In fact, if this fight ends in similar fashion to the first - when ring personnel had to stop the card for 20 minute to clean up all of Zhao's blood from the canvas, we suggest Longsun hangs up his karategi.

Mr. Takahashi: Longsun has cut himself worse shaving than your semen swilling henchman ever unleashed on him or any of his opponents, we'd also like to request both a dentist and a psychotherapist as Psiris will no doubt need new teeth after he's taken down and has his teeth bashed in, and Mr. Gunderson I'm sure you'll need to speak to a professional and be heavily medicated when your world gets rocked from the cataclysmic defeat coming to your fighter.

Longsun's skin is thinner than parchment paper, so it doesn't surprise me he cuts so easily with the Venus razor he uses to scrap peach fuzz off his face. We look forward to sending him into retirement on Aug. 19...or death. Whatever comes first.

Mr. Takahashi: The only thing you'll be sending Longsun is a Father's day card after he moves in and splits his time between the Fuhren and Gunderson households, along with whatever pamphlets from the Multi-level marketing jobs you both have to get after you're laughed out of Suckerpunch.

POST EVENT CHEAP SHOTS

LIGHTWEIGHT COCKSHOT SORTER SERIES: FINALS

Hello again Sucker Punch Fans! I’m Hare Rumpler along with my partner and analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and Suzy Sucker Punch, our happy go-lucky media correspondent! We had a ton of fun on tap last night with our card over at the Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney, where we finished off the Lightweight Cockshot Sorter Series tournament along with an extravaganza of other Lightweight action!

I’m going to say right off the bat here that there were more than a few surprises last night and I think Donkey may have had one of his worst nights of predictions so far! Perhaps not THE worst, but it was right up there! And that is definitely not a bad thing. I love it when the fights aren’t that predictable…and even more when a curveball is thrown like it was last night. Most of the time, Donkey is right on when he uses his go to moves for looking at morale or energy to determine the edge in a fight. But last night we had more than a couple guys buck the trend and somehow find a way! That’s awesome…would be more awesome if they come in prepared next time, but damn, talk about heart on the part of the fighters!

Unlike some of our more recent cards, this one was a solid mix of finishes and decisions! Three Decisions on the night, three TKO finishes, and a heavy dose of submissions with four of those! So there was definitely a little something for everybody in this night of action.

I say we get to talking about our merchandise partner and sponsor, and then jump right into it, ok?

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

When you think about training your fighters, one of the biggest concerns is keeping them in the gym and actively training, am I right? And you can’t do that if they have to be stopping to recover and rest for sessions here and sessions there! That is why you need to visit our sponsor, Shadow Warrior Nutrition, and specifically grab some of their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q. It is literally the best energy loss reduction supplement money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting! Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Undercard Bout #1: Featherweight Sparring Session

Kazuhisa Nagashima Defeats Surianglek Sitsongrit via Unanimous Decision

Donkey, our first fight of the evening was a little one round, three minute sparring session between these two kids. Both were out to show what they’ve got to their respective managers in hopes of obtaining a permanent spot in the stables.

Ultimately the result isn’t that important. Sure, one will get a win on their record and the appropriate level of rank jump and hype and the other will learn something about their morale after a loss. But more importantly, the managers really want to see what they may be hiding in the tale of the tape!

We could tell neither really came out with intensity in this sparring session, probably purposely so. There were some strikes thrown, sure, but a lot of it was a bit of kicky-kicky here and there, some to the legs, some to the body. From both fighters. A bit like two little girls kicking their older brothers in the shins there Donkey! Haha.

Donkey, any comments on what we found out…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I don’t know whether we really got any great results that will please the managers involved or not here Hare. Nagashima showed a Solid Chin there in the TotT for his manager, Esiah Xavier, but that may or may not be good enough depending upon what he’s looking for. He won the fight, so nothing learned about morale and confidence. For Sitsongrit, it turns out that with the loss his confidence remained VERY high, which is fantastic. But…he showed Determined in the TotT, and that’s not something Theksit is usually willing to accept. So word on the street has it that Sitsongrit is looking for new management and one more opportunity!

Undercard Bout #2: Lightweight

Robin Van Doen Defeats Sho Pereyra via TKO (Strikes)

We move on to the first non-test fight of the card here as Doen faced off against Sho Pereyra. I know Donkey got this one wrong…dead wrong. But admittedly, even I underestimated Doen on this one and thought that with the disadvantage in morale he’d potentially be easy pickings for Pereyra. Turns out, that wasn’t the case at all!

Pereyra came out and rather than try to get this fight to the ground, where we believed he might have been able to have some success, he stood with Doen and even took it into the clinch right after the one minute mark. Doen was the stronger standup fighter, so no doubt he had no issues whatsoever with Pereyra’s initial approach to the fight! With Pereyra unable to land any shots, both separated and in the clinch, he did finally attempt a takedown about halfway through the second minute. By then Doen had established his rhythm though and was landing the occasional well placed shot.

Not sure if Pereyra lost his focus for a moment or two, or what, but just before the two minute mark Doen was able to come over with a hell of a head kick that put Pereyra out on his feet! Wasn’t more than a couple more strikes before the ref was jumping in to save Pereyra!

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Doen needed a win, and at 0-3 coming in, he got a much needed one here. And kudos to him for going in there and getting it done! But really, the story on this one is a bit more on the side of how many things didn’t go the way they should have for Pereyra! First, he was 1-4, and really needed a win. Second, he had the advantage of an opponent being low on morale…and I might add, having started his MMA career a couple thousand spots behind him. Then, he didn’t go to his strength until it was almost too late in the fight, waiting until after the first minute to even attempt his first takedown. Doen may be on his way up the ladder now, which is fantastic…but Pereyra, unfortunately, was shown the door after the top brass met with his manager following the fight.

Undercard Bout #3: Lightweight

Ko Artist Defeats Jank Stank via TKO (Strikes)

Yet again!!!! Donkey, the world is upside down for this event and so far you just haven’t been able to get one right, despite following your well-heeled guidance! Artist came in with considerably worse morale than Stank did, but something must have turned that attitude around, because he stepped into the cage and decided he was NOT leaving with another loss in this one! And boy did he come for it fast!

Thirty-eight seconds Donkey! That’s what it took Artist to finish this one off and really, in many ways, essentially stave off disaster and potentially start a career defining turn-around! Now, will he come into the next fight fully prepared though?!? I sure hope so, let’s not ruin a good start!

And you know me Donkey…if you’re going to make a big statement with a finish…I’m all for it being done via a huge ass head kick! This makes it two in a row if you look back at the fight before this! This one brings home KO of the Night for Artist though, as the fans loved how quickly he went out there and put the smack down, and likely the way he just DROPPED Stank with that shot!

Well, what do you have for us Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Well, well, well! Two in a row wrong! I can’t remember the last time I started out an evening so badly with my picks. But that’s ok, I don’t really like when I can pick them easily! A surprise and shocking finish is always more fun for us and for the fans. Artist bounces back from a four fight losing streak, and makes the case that perhaps he can turn it around?!? Only time will tell, but he HAS to swap out those tighty-whities and get the morale further up despite the win! For Stank, he just wasn’t able to show it for us here at Sucker Punch. We’re really glad he gave it a shot, but with a 1-2 record here and a 3-6 overall, it was time to help him help himself with a new career!

*********

Undercard Bout #4: Lightweight

Corona Virus Defeats Conor Notorious via Submission (Kimura)

Our fourth fight of the night ended up very, very lopsided! At least Donkey got this one right, although he did claim this was going to be a great, hard fought one. Well, it may have been great, as far as results go, for Virus, but it wasn’t strictly hard fought and really, it was just one of those “it’s going to happen sooner or later” scenarios.

Notorious got one strike attempt in…that’s it. Then he was taken down, and the submission spam began! Eighteen sub attempts later over the course of four and a half minutes, he was tapping out due to a kimura!

There’s really not much more to say about this one. That was literally the fight. Couple strike attempts, a takedown, sub, sub, sub…more sub…and bam! Done.

What do you have for us, Donkey...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

While a win is a win, the fans identified this for what it was and apparently rated it low at 25%. Well, I like a good game of chess on the ground as much as the next guy, but that’s not what this was. This was Notorious biding his time and hoping for the bell, no hope of escape, yet being able to do a fairly decent job of fending off the sub attempts. But you can only do that for so long! Solid win for Virus…a last hurrah and loss for Notorious. This loss took him to 2-6, with three losses in a row and it was time for us to part ways and go our own directions. Good luck with his next gig, we appreciated his time with us.

Undercard Bout #5: Lightweight

Veljko Bakocevic Defeats Rock Lee via Submission (Kimura)

Wow, and with our last fight on the Undercard Donkey now goes 1-3 on his picks for the night! Donkey, I can’t remember the last time you had such a rough go man!

Tonight, the rules of coming in with your morale and energy managed and prepared were right out the window apparently! This is the third fight where Donkey went with his rule of thumb on that, and came out on the wrong end of the pick!

Bako did a fantastic job of staving off Lee’s strikes over the first minute or so…giving himself just enough time to recover from one takedown miss and then nailing the next at about a minute in! From there, it was wham, bam, thank ya ma’am, here’s a kimura for ya, goodnight friends!

Bako’s slip into that kimura was so slick and smooth it got him Submission of the Night honors! Great stuff, well done, and a great display of technique! Clearly he came in determined that there would NOT be any talk of whether this was the end of the road for him or not after this fight!

Donkey, how about that, eh…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

No question about it, Bakocevic clearly knew that he had to come through in this one, and kudos to him and his camp for coming in with a plan, training appropriately for the skills he was going to need to get it done, and then doing it! His strike defense was strong early, his takedowns up to snuff…and that kimura was a pretty little thing. For Lee, this doesn’t put him in an awful position, but it has to be disappointing. He had won two in a row and looked to be on the verge of making a case for himself to be in the picture for top contender sometime soon. With this loss, he’s going to have to step back and work his way back up, and perhaps clean up that ground game that may have been exposed a bit in this fight. He’ll come back strong, no doubt.

*********

Main Card Bout #1: Lightweight

Rey Bargos Defeats Bobolo Jubbly via TKO (Strikes)

Donkey!!! What is going on here man?!?! Is this the twilight zone or something?!? Are you seriously 1-4 now on the night? Wow…unheard of! But kudos to these young fighters for going out there and keeping us on our toes! This is why you fight the fights in the cage and not on paper folks!

If you had told me before I saw this one that this fight was never going to make it to the ground and that it was going to be dominated on one side in standup, I would have told you that you were full of crap and to stop trying to pull my leg Donkey! But that is exactly what happened!

Jubbly had six shots at putting this thing on the ground. SIX. When do you ever see this guy get that sort of opportunity and then have zero success? Well, apparently the other night, that’s when! Bargos’ camp claimed that he had stepped up his training game. That he had worked with the best, had a fantastic camp and was very, very confident that they worked on what they needed to for this. Well, damn…ain’t that a thing? Cause he came into this with his takedown defense TIGHT…and piggy backing on the ability to keep this thing on the feet, his striking was ON POINT! 14 for 14 head shots, 9 for 9 body shots…and boy, that was enough!

This easily could have been KO of the Night or Fight of the Night if it wasn’t for an exciting head kick that stole the show early and a championship fight that brought the drama and suspense as well.

Donkey, wow…eh…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I’m getting them all wrong tonight Hare, or most of them it seems, and that’s pretty cool! You were wondering where Jubbly’s profile picture has been lately? Well, if you figure out where his takedown game went, they might both be in the same place! Certainly they weren’t here for this fight. That’s probably a bit unfair to say, as I suspect that Bargos’ preparation had more to do with it than a lack of skill for Jubbly. Jubbly was on the verge of going 3-1, rebounding from a loss to Frankie Logan in the Sorter Series finals and having his name right back up there as a top contender candidate. Now, he’ll need to work a bit longer to get back there. *spoiler alert* For Bargos…he’s definitely turned some heads now! He’s 2-1 on his career, with his only loss being to NEW champ Frankie Logan. So really, that’s almost like a half loss, being he took him to a decision! His future seems bright.

Suzy was down ringside while Alex Conors was waiting for Rey Bargos, his fighter. He approached her and had this to say…

Alex Conors: I would like to announce Rey Bargos has not only signed two new sponsorships after his latest win but also a new 5 fight deal with SPPS. Bargos is ecstatic about the deal and awaiting word on his next challenge.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Mr. Conors, that is fantastic to hear, and I know that everybody in the organization is excited to know that Rey will be around for a while! His fans certainly will be celebrating this win and the new contract tonight!

*********

Main Card Bout #2: Lightweight

Valery Bokov Defeats Frank Carey via Submission (Armbar)

You know Donkey…the fans really didn’t give this fight a high rating, but I loved it! Honestly, this fight went almost exactly as we anticipated, with both men wanting it on the ground and both getting their opportunities to do what they wanted to. Short of finishing early that is. I guess the fans just don’t appreciate a chess match of different skill sets on the ground the way I do!

As I said, both men were intent upon this being on the canvas. We knew that, and it was just a matter of establishing position and getting the right chances. In the first round, they both had them, with the position reversing a couple times, Carey working the ground and pound and Bokov trying for the submission. A close round, but Bokov got it.

Round 2, more of the same, clinch, takedown, sub attempt, ground and pound, reversal, you name it, we got it! Carey took this one, in what was turning out to be a really close contest! And finally the third round…and again the clinch from Carey and the takedown. The punchy-punchy thing ensued from Carey and the sub attempts for Bokov! And then…the fatal mistake…Carey went to posture up…left his arm there…and BAM! Bokov had it for the armbar! Another one that could have easily been the Sub of the Night right there, such a key pivotal move to nail that submission when it presented itself!

Donkey, anything…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Wow, I finally get another correct! This was a really, really good fight. We suspected it would be, and it did NOT disappoint! I’d watch this one over and over as well Hare, so I’m with you on that. This one gives Bokov two in a row and three of his last four…and puts him right into the discussion for potential top contender soon! For Carey, we didn’t have a lot to go by, but we were able to figure out what his plan would be. He tried to implement it, and had his chances, but he just couldn’t get past that solid chin of Bokov’s. It’ll be fun to see how he evolves and where he goes from here!

Main Card Bout #3: Lightweight

Tua Graves Defeats Piney Winston via Unanimous Decision

We’ve got one that went the distance here between two fierce competitors Donkey! You got the winner correct, but I don’t think anybody saw this going to a decision. And frankly, considering all of the action in this fight, it’s unbelievable that it did!

This one was ALL ground. We weren’t sure if Graves would definitely take it there, but he most certainly did…and Winston going to the ground was never in question. Four takedowns over three rounds, all by Graves, resulting in almost the entire fight being spent on the ground. A lot, and I do mean a lot, of jostling for position, some serious ground and pound from Graves…which likely won him the fight with the judges…and…WOW…twenty-four submission attempts between the two of them! And not a one managed to be finished! Say who-what?!?!

Let me repeat that last part…16 sub attempts by Winston…a brown belt…and an accomplished submission artist…8 sub attempts by Graves…no chopped liver himself! And they didn’t finish this thing, that’s how much this fight was a game of cat and mouse, one upping the next and just refusing to be caught! Damn. Just…damn.

Donkey, over to you, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Graves gets the win, no doubt as you said by controlling the action and landing strikes on the ground. But this was a well fought battle from both sides! Graves gets ahead of things now with a 5-4-1 record…and Winston still retains a solid 6-3…I can’t wait to see more fights from these two…they both belong right up there in any discussion!

Co-Main Event

Lightweight Bout

Demi Achilles Defeats Two Two via Submission (Kimura)

Heyyyy! Donkey, you finally nailed one right on the head, winner, finish and exact sub! Nice. Way to bounce back late!

The Artist Formerly Known as Two (TAFKAT), now known as Raleigh St. Clair, having moved out of his mom’s house, rejected her lack of love for him as the second child…and perhaps had a sex change…is that a porn star name Donkey?...came in and did his very best to control this fight, implement the game plan that we actually suspected he might and got off to a good start. His strikes were landing unhindered in the clinch once he established himself there. But then…and this is the head scratcher…um, after wisely and valiantly shrugging off six takedown attempts by Achilles…he…well, Donkey…he took this to the ground himself!! No, seriously. He basically committed hari-kari!

That’s where this fight went from REALLY good for him, to REALLY bad, REALLY fast. Sure, he landed a couple shots on the ground…but his safe zone was on the feet. Achilles is deadly on the ground with his submission game! And sure enough, a little over a minute later, Achilles had taken a couple shots, but in the process had worked into a better position…and bam, there was the kimura…for the win!

Donkey, I really have to believe that Two’s…er, I mean, St. Clair’s…manager and he must be shaking their heads still, a couple days later…wondering what possessed them to do that. Pretty much gave the fight away that they had well in hand I’d say.

Donkey, got anything on your mind…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I figured Achilles was going to eventually get this to the ground. And once that happened, I figured this was his to lose. I NEVER figured that he’d be gifted that trip to the canvas! Wow. I’m with you Hare, this fight looked like it could have been finished from the clinch or shortly after in standup. This is one that St. Clair’s camp is going to look back on and wish they could have back. For Achilles, you take em where you can get em! So he’ll take it, and this puts him in the driver’s seat to make a case as a potential top contender!

Demi Achilles was heading to the locker room as Suzy caught up with him for a few words…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Demi, you were picked to win by Donkey, and now, even after perhaps a rough start to the fight, you’ve come out the victor. With only one loss on the record, some are saying you’re in the driver’s seat for a spot at the top of the division again. Any thoughts on your record and what it means?

Demi Achilles: As I said to you guys, my loss was just a fluke. I came unprepared. But now I'm always prepared and ready to bang!

Suzy Sucker Punch: I have a feeling that Demi will get the chance to prove that in the near future, and his fans can’t wait!

Our Main Event tonight folks! It was time to belt our very first Lightweight champion here at Sucker Punch! Two extremely talented fighters both very deserving of this shot, I couldn’t wait for this fight there Donkey!

Frankie and Verreira both navigated a tough tournament full of talent, with Frankie actually having one opponent bail and run with tail between legs at one point. We just had a heck of a finish in that prior fight, so the crowd was all on edge and ready to go for this big one…and now it was time, as Juice Fluffer made his way into the cage…here’s the replay of the fight start…

With professional record of three wins, one loss and NO draws, he stands 178 centimeters tall, weighing in at 153 pounds and 21 years of age, representing Falkirk, Scotland and fighting out of your very own Sydney, Australia…the NUMBER ONE seed overall in the Sucker Punch Lightweight Cockshot Sorter Series, Frannnnkieeeee… “The Scotch Kiss” ….LOOOOGANNNNN!!!

“And now introducing…to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a professional record of three wins, one loss and NO draws, he stands 180 centimeters tall, weighing in at 155 pounds and 21 years of age, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and fighting out of London, England …the number fifteen seed overall in the Sucker Punch Lightweight Cockshot Sorter Series, “Viniiiiiiiiiciuuuuuussss...VERREIRRRRRAAAAA!!!

And we were off folks!!!

This was a hard fought contest, although if you just look at the judge’s scorecards it’s not going to seem that way. These two combatants came out and went at it right from the bell, landing shots for over a minute before it was taken to the clinch. As we said in the preview, with Logan, you never quite know how he might attack you in any given fight…but wow…did Verreira plan to show us that he could be the one to pull out the surprises from his bag of tricks!

The second and third minute were spent in the clinch with shots taken back and forth! Then back to separation for a minute with more shots exchanged and a bunch of sizing up. Then the surprise came…into the fifth minute of the first and Verreira decides to take it to the ground! Ok! So it’s on, we’re about to find out what that brown belt of his is all about for the first time in his career!...and…sub attempts from Verreira…they didn’t succeed, but they were there, and he was taking a new angle on things! Frankie got the round, but it was Verreira who definitely brought the stunning surprise in that one!

Round 2…some more boxing…shots land…and clinch! And then…BOOM, just to show it wasn’t a mistake, Verreira takes it to the ground yet again! With top position, he was able to avoid much in the way of damage from Logan while starting to work the subs, which he did over and over, with Logan thwarting him at every turn! The round ended with Verreira failing to get the submission shortly after a very close attempt at an armbar! The refs gave that one to Logan, no doubt due to landing more shots in the standup, but honestly I felt like Verreira got that one being the aggressor and getting it to the ground.

Round 3…! And Logan clinches again…with Verreira AGAIN taking it to the ground, clearly determined to finish this thing with a sub from down there! Logan neatly escapes though, gets back to the feet…and then begins the process of taking over and exerting dominance in the standup, refusing to let this thing go back to the ground again! Verreira seemed a bit more focused on the counter, waiting for the right moment, while Logan continued to tenderize his legs, body and face! With the fight clearly in hand…Donkey…this is when the real shocker came!

In what can only lead to some bad blood down the line between these two, Logan, who already seemed to have the fight in hand going into the last and final minute…oh my…yep Donkey! Ooooooh baby, this is SUCKER PUNCH my friends!...and Logan, living up to his name and showing us just why he’s done things to earn the “Scotch Kiss” moniker…landed a nasty shot to the boys!! Yep, those family jewels just got reduced in value folks! Here it was…

That's four minutes gone in the round. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Logan lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Verreira has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Verreira and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Dang Donkey! In a championship fight no less! That one’s going to be remembered for quite a while…certainly by Verreira!

Juice Fluffer enters as the referee has both fighters in the middle of the cage…

“Ladies and gentlemen, after three rounds, we go to the judges’ scorecards for a decision…”

“Summer Carpenter scores the contest, 30-27, Logan.”

“Ben Hemmingworth scores it, 30-27…”

“And Skip Squint scores it, 30-27…”

“For the winner…by Unanimous Decision…ANNNNNNDDDD NEWWWWWW…Sucker Punch Pro Series…Undisputed…Lightweight Champion of the World… “The Scotch Kiss” Frannnnkieeeee…….LOOOOGANNNNN!!!

WE HAVE A CHAMPION DONKEY! We have a champ! You have anything else…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Wow! Yes indeed, some big moments and big shocks in that fight! I had the call wrong, but the suspense was worth it! First, Verreira fakes us all out, going with a tactic and approach he’s never shown before…and honestly, it could have paid off at any time! Credit to Logan for managing to fight off those subs and stay cool under a lot of pressure from Verreira. For Logan, a well-rounded fight where he showed just why he’s so dangerous and difficult to plan for, with a varied skillset that isn’t weak in any given area! A well-earned championship, especially to avoid being subbed out with so many opportunities given to Verreira! But that shot at the end…oh boy. To the boys? C’mon, was that necessary…or just part of the package and what you get when you have a reputation to uphold!

Suzy made sure she was at the cage door waiting for Frankie Logan as he exited, the victor and first Lightweight champion, his manager beside her with a smile on his face…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Frankie, you have to be very, very happy with this result. Verreira definitely brought something to the table, tried your move with keeping his opponent off-base, but you hung in there and pulled it off! How are you feeling right now?

Frankie Logan: I am very proud to be the first Sucker Punch Lightweight Champ at the most prestigious 355k org in the game. Now the hard work begins! Vinnicius is a tough opponent, a well-trained grappler with a single hitter quitter is very dangerous. We knew we had to fight smart in this one, outpace him on the feet and tire him on the ground.

P J Jones: Suzy, just wanted to thank Sucker Punch for everything. It’s great to get a win but the best part is the energy, excitement and professionalism at SP, which is second to none. This is a very exciting organization that we look forward to being involved with for a long time. In fact we have just signed a LHW prospect to SP and we have very high hopes!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Undoubtedly this is a night that both of you, and the fans, won’t forget for a long time, if ever! Congratulations on the championship!

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Great stuff and the Sucker Punch universe now has its first Lightweight Champion! This is what we come out for folks, the excitement, the twists and turns, the action packed fun! Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

See you all soon, and till then…

Sucker Punch Preview

Sucker Punch Pro Series 2

Welcome folks to another night of intense Sucker Punch action!!! I’m Hare Rumpler and I’m excited to bring you this event preview with our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and Suzy Sucker Punch, our incorrigible media correspondent!

Tonight’s event is a huge one as we return to action with a mixed card, only our second true Sucker Punch Pro Series card that is neither a Proving Grounds test card nor a Cockshot Sorter Series tournament related card! So it’s only right that we celebrate getting fully into mainstream Sucker Punch action by moving this one over to Schooners Bar in Sydney, where we can pack the place with 7,000 screaming fans! We’ll return back to our favorite intimate venue, the Bondi Outdoor Arena for our next event, but we just wanted this one to have something a little special going on being that these are big steps forward we’re taking now that all of our Sorter Series are complete.

This card will feature what should be a monster of a matchup between current undisputed Middleweight champion, Wanderson Machado, and top contender Tyrion Lannister! But before we get to that action, we’ll start things off with a little sparring bout between one of my own new kids as well as an offering from Esiah Xavier’s camp. We’ll move into several Heavyweight fights as well as a Middleweight bout to flesh out the Undercard. Then well run through what I hope and believe will be some high intensity Middleweight contests that will help determine the look of our top 10 in the division and who’s on the bubble!

We cannot wait to bring you all the action tonight at Schooners Bar, so let’s move on to a word from our sponsor and merchandise partner, and then look ahead in more detail at the action on tap tonight!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Our fantastic and respected sponsor is Shadow Warrior Nutrition! Many of you already know them as the providers of Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, THE energy loss reduction supplements! For those of you who aren’t in the know on that, you should be, because this is the way you keep your fighter training more often and not taking sessions off to try to keep his energy above 90%! If you aren’t using this supplement, hurry over and check them out today, you will not be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Undercard Bout #1: Lightweight

Cormac Mac Airt (0-0-0) vs. Phony Phontana (0-0-0)

We’ll kick off the evening with a quick little one round, three minute sparring session between one of Esiah Xavier’s kids, Cormac Mac Airt, versus my very own young hopeful, Phony Phontana.

While I’m always looking for a win Donkey, I know that for myself I’d be content just to find out that this kid has some great potential and maybe has a ton of confidence, even if he should take a loss. I want a kid who can handle himself, and doesn’t go moping after a loss. I want him to be hungry, wanting to get back in the gym, train hard, go into his next camp with fire in his gut and the confidence that if he follows the game plan and executes, he’ll see success down the line. A loss now is worth all that in the long run!

There’s no doubt in my mind that Xavier’s camp thinks similarly on this. He’s going to be looking to make sure this kid isn’t more concerned with gardening or moonwalking than he is with going in there with a confident attitude knowing he can depend upon a great chin or huge knockout power to take it to his competition!

So while I don’t expect a lot from these kids tonight, I did tell my own young wannabe warrior that I expect him to stay busy out there. There won’t be any stalling or sitting back for two of the three minutes waiting for the perfect counter. He has three minutes to show what he’s got, and I expect him to go out there and put on a show to start the evening. Nothing less will satisfy me!

Donkey, anything on these two youngsters…?

Donkey’s Pick: Doesn’t Matter

Pick wise, I won’t bother with this fight because again, as you stated Hare, the result isn’t all that important. But you touched on what is, and that’s that these kids have some worthwhile intangibles, a great attitude and a will to succeed. Hopefully both you and Esiah get some insight into just that tonight and these two kids move on to training for their future as part of both of your stables!

Undercard Bout #2: Heavyweight

Bomb Squad Lighting Hands (1-5-0) vs. Dookie Shoes (0-4-0)

I’m not going to candy coat this Donkey…both of these youngsters have struggled up to this point in their careers. Things have definitely not started off the way they would have liked, that much is certain. But the beauty is, at least in Lighting Hands’ case, youth. Hands is only 19 years old, and if he can get things turned around…soon…there’s still hope!

Tonight is the night he has to do that. At 1-5, Hands absolutely cannot afford to drop to 1-6, nor should he given the situation he’s walking into. Shoes comes into this contest…again, the same as his last fight, with ZERO morale. Time after time this kid fails to get his attitude adjusted and his focus on before a fight, unbelievably. I’ve talked time after time about morale and energy. I’ve even given these kids and their managers tips on how to fix and improve those situations, Donkey! But…you can lead a horse to water as they say, but you clearly cannot make it drink!

So, that should mean a win for Hands tonight, and if he by chance can’t pull that off, well…then he may need to start thinking about his career choices. He’s 0-3 in his most recent trifecta of fights, but we know this kid has the skills to succeed if he applies himself! Now, I’m excited about the fact that he’s coming into this fight tonight with full energy and a focus in his eyes that looks something like determination and fire, that’s awesome, and a very good sign! Now what he needs to do is use his superior skills in boxing, wrestling and Jiu Jitsu to put together a winning plan, and make it happen this evening!

Shoes has the stronger Muay Thai in this fight. Combined with strong boxing, he’s likely going to want this in the clinch all night long until he’s tenderized Hands enough to bring about the end with a finish. However, will he have the confidence and will to move this to the clinch, control the action there and effectively punish Hands? That’s a big question, and with that dull look in the eyes and distracted body language, I don’t know…

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Hands via TKO (Strikes)

I’m going to go ahead and give you one of my rare guarantees here Hare. Actually, I’m going to make this a two for one special! How about that? First, Hands wins tonight. No doubt in my mind, you can fire me if I’m wrong. Kidding, don’t fire me…but yeah, there’s absolutely no reason he shouldn’t win. Btw, did you know that Shoes isn’t even training at a gym right now? Yeah, his manager doesn’t have him training. That’s a bit of bull right there to be honest. Now, here’s the second part of my guarantee…because I’ve seen that look in your eye over the past week Hare, and I know that after the last card, you had some serious heart to heart conversations with a few fighters and their managers. You’re now sitting down with people and being honest about what’s best for these kid’s careers…if they have it, if they don’t, and what’s going to help the org move forward to the benefit of the existing fighters. That said…if Shoes loses he’s likely going to be looking for work as a landscaper come tomorrow. Actually, it probably doesn’t matter, win or lose, given the unpreparedness over and over. I hope he likes gardening! However, that said…the same pretty much goes for Hands, because a loss to an unprepared fighter like this, on top of his existing record, would be absolutely disastrous for him.

Undercard Bout #3: Heavyweight

Rick Hatton (3-3-0) vs. Tnt Winner (6-1-0)

Our third fight of the evening will be between two very talented young warriors. With these records and talent, the folks who are here and paying attention to the undercard fights will be getting an early treat…normally they’d be higher on the card but due to who they’ve fought to date, their hype and popularity has inched along. With this talent though, that’s sure to change in the future and I expect that some of the die-hard faithful in the audience are going to be talking about the fight and their favorite from it going forward!

Winner comes in on a four fight win streak, so the name is fitting! His last two fights were here with us at Sucker Punch and both were finished via submission. The only issue Winner has…and it is a big consideration at this point in his career…is a complete lack of standup skills. In order to win, he MUST get the fight to the ground. Now, that may be a little more difficult than normal in this one, as he comes in about 30% low on morale, which can have an effect on the ability to commit to getting the fight down.

Hatton is a very young fighter with a lot of promise. Having started out his MMA career at an exceptionally young age, he is now only 18 years old despite having been fighting for a couple years now! That means this youngster has managed to get quite a bit of experience for himself early. And though his record may only stand at 3-3 that’s a solid foundation to be at .500 at this point in a career. With three wins in a row now, he’s turned things around from an 0-3 record, so of late Hatton’s been on fire! He’s primarily a boxer, but also has mediocre wrestling and a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu to help with any ground threats that may come. Will it be enough to hold off Winner tonight? He’s going to need to keep this fight on the feet and do some damage before Winner manages to gain any momentum or build up his confidence!

Over to you Donkey, what do ya have for us…?

Donkey’s Pick: Hatton via TKO (Strikes)

Winner is the older, more experienced fighter, and normally I’d probably have leaned towards him with that record and his solid ground game and proven ability to finish via submission. But that morale worries me, and I consider it a tipping point when considering the two fighters’ chances. Hatton has solid enough ground skills that should it go to the ground, the morale advantage may allow him to escape unscathed. The best bet for him, and what I believe will happen, is to finish it early on the feet though. Another win here will set him up for great things down the line in this division here at Sucker Punch! If Winner can overcome the morale disadvantage though and find a way to victory, he’ll have to be talked about in terms where he really belongs in the top 10!

*********

Undercard Bout #4: Heavyweight

Steve Norton (5-0-0) vs. Ivan Aure (2-2-0)

Donkey, there’s no need for me to even go to any depth on this fight. Not even just below the surface…which btw, is a disservice to Steve Norton who is coming in prepared and ready to go. And that’s fantastic, it shows a real professional attitude when he undoubtedly knows about the sad state of his opponent!

Ivan Aure will be walking into the cage for the first…and last…time with us at Sucker Punch tonight. He comes in with about 65% morale, which could be forgivable and something that you reach out to a manager and work with them on…but also with ZERO, nada, zilcheroony in the energy department! This dude will be gassed from walking down the ramp to the cage and taking a pre-fight spin around the inside! Hell, he might already be checked out of this fight by the time he manages to get dressed in his robe to head down from the locker room!

Also, Suzy tells us that calls have not been returned from his gym’s office and when she did manage to finally reach out to the receptionist at the gym where Aure trains, she found out that Aure’s manager hasn’t even been around for the past 10 or more days. So Aure appears to be on his own while Zod Killua does whatever he’s doing…maybe he’s renovating a bathroom or something? I hear that’s pretty important?

It would be unfair not to talk about what Norton’s got going on. This young kid has only been training for less about a year, at 19 years old. In that time though, he’s been very active in the cage, with five QFC fights…all wins…before coming here to join Sucker Punch and make his debut with us! His boxing skills as well as ground skills are still a work in progress, but he has an excellent Muay Thai game and you can expect to see him clinch up in this, abuse the hell out of the body and head of Aure, and finish this one early. I don’t see this going more than 2 or three minutes Donkey, but you might disagree.

So, what do you say Donkey...?

Donkey’s Pick: Norton via KO (Strikes)

Aure is the more established fighter here, despite Norton having more experience in the cage, but it’s not going to help tonight. Barring a miracle and lucky shot early, his lack of energy, lack of focus and morale and lack of direction and leadership is leading him to the slaughter. Norton should find himself with a sixth win tonight, and manager Rei will likely be happy to take that and get back to the gym to train and work on rounding out his young fighter in preparation for his next contest which will have to be a more serious consideration than this one!

*********

Undercard Bout #5: Middleweight

Brendan Moker (2-2-0) vs. Angenor De Oliveira (2-3-0)

Donkey, I wish I could tell you that these two were coming into this one fully prepped, ready to go and bound to have a great fight! And for his part, Moker has taken care of business in that regard, with his manager, Jeff Mma ensuring he’s got him as right as he can be. De Oliveira has a disturbing trend of coming in less than prepared though, with last time being low on morale against Krasnov, this time being more of the same at about 55% energy and 70% morale.

That won’t bode well for De Oliveira tonight in a fight that is just about a must-win for him! He’s had a rough go of it since joining Sucker Punch, with his last three fights ending in a variety of finish losses including a submission, a TKO and a knockout via head kick! If he can muster it in this one, De Oliveira needs to find a way to get this fight to the ground and finagle his way into a submission victory! That’s how he won his first fight here at Sucker Punch against Luis Garces as well as his first professional fight in the QFC. And against Moker, who has a white belt in Jiu Jitsu, it is the clear path to victory.

Moker is going to be looking to ensure that that does NOT happen. He’ll want this fight to stay on the feet where he can take advantage of his superior boxing. He doesn’t have much to speak of for ground skills, so being taken down is going to be problematic. His focus should be staying up, striking effectively, and putting it away if he can! If he can snap the two fight losing streak he’s currently on it would go a long way to getting him back on track after starting his career 2-0 and then dropping the last two. Granted, the first loss was to eventual and current Middleweight champion Wanderson Machado in the second round of the Sorter Series, so that one can potentially be forgiven!

Any thoughts there Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: De Oliveira via Submission (Armbar)

Despite everything going against him I’m going to step away from my normal policy of going with the guy who is more prepared on this one. Moker’s white belt worries me in this fight, and while he could very well take advantage of the lack of preparing on De Oliveira’s part, it only takes one takedown for De Oliveira to cash in. And for whatever reason, I have a feeling that may happen. Consider this one a matter of playing the longshot!

Main Card Bout #1: Middleweight

Jacques Piaget (2-2-0) vs. Toth Orion (1-1-0)

Alright!!! Here we go Donkey…get ready to get excited because we now have two hungry fighters, both sitting at .500 so far, who are primed and ready to go for this fight! Both have fully energy, lots of morale and their eye on the prize!

Piaget is a standup fighter who has considerable Muay Thai skills, but tends to favor boxing as his approach in the ring. Instead, the clinch skills are probably there for defensive purposes. He’s bounced back and forth with his results, going from loss to win and then repeating that again. But I look at the loss two fights ago with a grain of salt…he rocked Smirnov with a beautiful head kick, and any other time that probably would have been the end of the fight. Whether you can chalk that up to a lack of finish on Piaget’s part or heart on Smirnov’s part is anybody’s guess right now, but the strikes and kicks were there. He proved that against Daniel Son Karate in his last fight when he again showed those kicks of his and knocked Karate out cold…just as he’d done the fight before Smirnov aginast Crisis Smoove. So if you ask me, I give the credit to Smirnov in that last fight for the recovery. He could easily be on a 3 fight win streak right now with a 3-1 record. That’s important for anybody to keep in mind, because he can be dangerous with those deadly kicks!

Toth Orion is new to Sucker Punch and makes his debut tonight against Piaget! He’s a well-rounded fighter with competent boxing, proficient wrestling and a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu. He may decide to stand and bang with Piaget tonight, or, if he has the skills with that blue belt, he may decide his fate is better served on the ground. When I look at Orion’s last fight, I immediately get super excited Donkey! Why? Because he ended that fight with…yep…a head kick knockout! Could this turn into a “see who can kick somebody else’s head in first” battle tonight? God I hope so Donkey! Orion has a granite chin, but was still finished via TKO in his first fight against Elo Veena back in March. He may not want to tangle with Piaget’s kicks in a back and forth if there is any concern over heart to go with that granite chin.

Donkey, thoughts here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Piaget via KO (Head Kick)

This…is what you call a SUPER tough fight to call! One of these guys is improving to a winning record, the other, falling a little behind after tonight, barring a draw. But with these two, and their dangerous moves, I think a draw is out of the question! I’m going to have to go with…hmm…let me get my trusty quarter here! And there it is Donkey…the quarter flip calls for Piaget via Head Kick KO! You may get your wish if the magic quarter has any powers at all! Which, btw, I doubt…really, it’s just a quarter that the lady at the local convenience store gave me as change the other day!

Main Card Bout #2: Middleweight

Bonjour Arrivederci (5-0-0) vs. D B Cooper (2-5-0)

Moving right along here Donkey, we’re getting super close to those Main Events now…I can feel it! This next fight features newcomer to Sucker Punch, but not to the MMA scene, Bonjour Arrivederci! Oooh, that’s fun to say, Donkey! Bonjouuuurrr Arrivederrrciii…do I sound sexy Donkey? Wait, why are you looking at me like that?...er, anyways, moving along! We also have D B Cooper in this one, who has struggled along in his career to date despite having a decent skillset. Likely, that’s due to lack of preparation.

So let’s touch on the Cooper thing first and just get it out of the way. I’m not even going to go back through the entire list and history, but let’s at least go back to last fight. He came into that fight with ZERO morale. And…surprise, lost. Now, here’s where I have some hope. Yes, he comes into this fight with about 75% energy, which is not thrilling, but he also has about…I’d say, 55% morale. He lost that last fight, as I just mentioned, so his morale would NOT have increased from getting a win. So…silver lining here…his manager must be working with him to try to raise that morale by doing clothing changes! And that’s a great thing, it gives me hope that David G may be making his best efforts to turn things around for Cooper. Now, he also needs to remember to rest his guy anytime he gets below 90% energy when training, and at last 2 sessions before a fight so he maxes out, but hey, baby steps, am I right Donkey?

That said, Cooper is still at a disadvantage tonight due to the morale and energy issues, but not as much as he could be. He’s a Muay Thai artist who tends to lean on his boxing despite the MT skills, which we see often with young fighters. That’s how he won two fights back against Jim Beam. We mentioned he has solid skills, but we’re about to find out tonight if his wrestling is going to be enough, despite only a white belt in Jiu Jitsu, to fend off a guy who likes to go to the ground. My guess is that with the energy, morale, and potential lack of focus on ground skills, he may have a rough go tonight. But…and this is a huge but…even if he loses, I’m tempted to give him just a bit more rope…which is not something I’d normally do in his position…only due to the fact that it seems like his manager is now trying to turn it around. I think he bought himself maybe another month to see improvement by doing that!

Arrivederci seems to love the ground game. In his last fight, he used a combination of GnP along with submission attempts while on the ground. He only has a blue belt at this point, so you can expect that over time he’s probably working to improve the sub side of his game. Most of his five wins so far, as he’s undefeated, have come from decision victories where he controls the action, does enough to score points and outlasts and frustrates his opponents.

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Pick: Arrivederci via Submission (Kimura)

Another thing that Arrivederci has going for him, that you missed Hare, is a granite chin. That means he can afford to take a shot or two while going for the takedown against his opponents and potentially not have it rock him in the process. Or, he can end up on the bottom, go for submissions and potentially deal with any GnP coming from the other side. Nice. Tonight, I expect more of the same as his prior fights, either a decision or a submission. Oh, and Hare? Don’t you ever ask me if you sound sexy again…or I’m filing a lawsuit for workplace harassment!

Main Card Bout #3: Middleweight

Kirill Krasnov (3-4-0) vs. Jim Beam (1-3-0)

Here we are only one fight away from our Main Events of the evening Donkey, and both Krasnov and Beam and topped off and ready to go boy! Which is great to see, as both of them are in a position where they need to get going in the proper direction…consistently…and a win here tonight would help with that quest!

Krasnov has had mixed success since joining Sucker Punch. With a win in the first round of the Sorter Series against a very dangerous Piaget, he looked like he was primed to make a run of things. Then, he lost to eventual champion Wanderson Machado. Ok…well, you can see how that might happen against the eventual champ! But then he also lost to Longsun Zhao…who we think has a very decent amount of talent…but if you ask Psiris Fuhren, he’ll tell you he’s nothing but a low-class scrubb! Just check the forums! HAHA. Krasnov now comes off a win in his last fight against Angenor De Oliveira, who, to be fair, came in very unprepared…but a win is a win, and in that win Krasnov went back to his bread and butter for a submission victory, the third of his career. He’d like to make that four tonight and in the process even up his record at 4-4.

Beam looked like he was in a lot of trouble, having started his career here at Sucker Punch and proceeding to lose his first three fights in a row! Then, he got a big win against Al Briscoe last month, which hopefully has jumpstarted the momentum for him and gotten his head back in the game! Certainly, Beam comes into this fight with his head on right from a preparation standpoint, as Yamashita Craven clearly focused on making sure he did the little things…energy managed, morale up…control what you can and give yourself the best shot!

Beam is well-rounded, with good, competent skills across the board. To win his last fight, he had to work a reversal after being taken down to the ground, but then once on top capitalized on the position with some wicked ground and pound! Will he try a similar move tonight, or will he stay standing and work from there? As we said, Krasnov is dangerous on the ground. It was be ballsy of Beam to purposely take him to the canvas, and if he does, he better at least have the top position to try to work the GnP while hoping he can defend against subs at the same time. If it were me, Donkey, I think I’d probably attempt to work the standup a bit, maybe see if I can prevent as many takedown attempts as possible and let my opponent tire himself out…then if it does go to the ground, at least you’ve got that bit of advantage. However, if you believe it’s going there no matter what, maybe it’s worth ensuring you end up on top and controlling the takedown on your own. Let’s see what he does tonight!

Donkey, over to you, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Pick: Krasnov via Submission (Armbar)

I like where you’re going there Hare, and if Beam is going to have some success tonight, I think he’s going to at least have to utilize some of those tactics against Krasnov. However, I think one way or another this gets to the ground at some point, and once it does, Krasnov is going to be dangerous…perhaps too dangerous. For Beam, that would be very bad, both from a disappointment in this fight perspective, as well as from a career outlook perspective. Normally, I’d be expecting that he’d be in Hare’s office with his manager tomorrow if he were to lose. However, given the quality of opponents he’s faced leading up to this point, perhaps he’s given a bit more time and rope! We’ll have to see with that also!

Co-Main Event

Middleweight Bout

Ivan Smirnov (3-1-0) vs. Scott Summers (2-2-0)

Our Co-Main Event brings us a very, very evenly skilled contest between Ivan Smirnov and Scott Summers. Both competitors are fully prepared to go, so we can expect the very best from both of these young kids!

Summers will have the advantage in the standup. Not by a ton, but enough. And while they both have blue belts in Jiu Jitsu, Smirnov’s edge in the wrestling department should give him the advantage on the ground.

Bouncing back and forth between losses and wins over the past four fights, Summers comes off a win into this one and is hoping to break the trend and put two wins together. He won a convincing 30-26 decision over D B Cooper in his last one where he rained down the punishment on the ground, throwing 66 shots while down there and landing every…single…one…of them! That…is a rough day at the office for Cooper. That said, he didn’t finish Cooper, which is very surprising. That means either he was going all accuracy…highly likely giving that success rate…or Cooper simply had an amazing ability to absorb punishment. In DB Cooper’s first fight, he showed he was determined in the TotT, so you have to suspect he only has a “good” chin at best. So I believe it’s more of the former than the latter.

The skillsets on these two fighters are strikingly similar. Where Summers may have a bit more skill in standup, both boxing and Muay Thai, it’s only by a small margin. Smirnov has taken a similar approach in prior fights with wins via both submission and strikes, using a mix of the two in most fights. I don’t see that changing tonight. That means we can expect this fight to be on the ground, quickly, and for some serious jostling of both position…and heads! This should be a fun one, and dare I say, maybe a candidate for Fight of the Night?

Donkey, you have a call here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Smirnov via Submission (Armbar)

A very tough one to call…but I have a hunch here, the spidey sense is tingling. And that hunch is telling me that if Summers goes in with the same approach, a ton of shots, but not much damage coming from them, he may not finish and instead would be going for a decision again. If that happens, it’s going to offer a LOT of time in this fight for Smirnov to potentially land a submission at some point. And that’s what I think maybe happens here, this fight lingers too long and Smirnov finally gets an opportunity to lock one in with his mix of strikes and then submission attempts.

Main Event

Welterweight Championship Bout

Wanderson Machado (Champion: 5-0-0) vs. Tyrion Lannister (Top Contender: 8-1-0)

Ohhhhh yeah, Donkey!!!! Now it’s ON! Main Event baby, and for the Sucker Punch Middleweight Championship of the World! Awesome stuff, and these two fighters are both scary as well for anybody to look across the cage and see. I wonder what will be going through both of their minds when they look over and see the other tonight in that cage? Both men are set and ready, with their camps ensuring they are coming in rested, morale up and confidence high…yep! I can’t wait to get to this one tonight Donkey!

I wish I could tell you that there’s a ton of intrigue heading into this battle tonight! I wish I could say that one could do this, that, or the other thing and it’s going to be a crazy fight to see how the other responds and adjusts. But, that is highly unlikely to be the case! We can almost put money on it that we know exactly what each of these two guys are going to want to do, and it’s really just going to be a matter of can they implement the plan? Can they control the fight, make it happen where they want, and impose their will on the other? If they do get roped into the other’s domain, can they turn the tables?

Our challenger, Lannister, is going to want this on the ground and then in position for a submission…in the worst way! But…do you risk being too one dimensional in trying to get it there, or do you work in some other activity to keep the champ off guard and then give yourself the opportunity to suddenly get the takedown? There’s risk to that, you stay up too long, you get yourself locked into Machado’s grasp, and oh boy, a world of hurt could be coming!

For Machado, things are a bit more simple, supposedly. He does what he does…and that’s get ahold of you, clinch you up, and then begin the process known as “tenderize and brutalize”! Which usually ends badly for the guy on the receiving end of the tenderizing! Can he be taken down? Three fights ago, he ran across Kiril Krasnov in the Sorter Series tournament en route to the championship. Krasnov is a skilled submission artist, but on the ground Machado was able to control him and get an eventual standup. Lannister is even more skilled on the ground…can he do the same if it gets to the ground in this one?

Three fights ago, around the same time that Machado fought Krasnov, Lannister ran into Vinchito Routerhead in the Sorter Series tournament. It was the only loss of his career. In that fight, he was able to get Vinchito down, but Routerhead also had good ground skills and was able to turn the tables and get a victory with his ground and pound. Machado is not as skilled as Routerhead on the ground, and all others who have come before and after have fallen to Lannister via submission on the ground. Will Lannister be able to do the same against Machado?

This is a thrilling fight we have coming up folks…you don’t want to miss it!

Donkey, an intriguing matchup for the Championship…?

Donkey’s Pick: Lannister via Submission (Armbar)

It is Hare, it is!!! This is a fantastic Championship fight that you’d have to be crazy to miss! Folks, there are 7,000 seats in Schooners tonight…make sure you’re in one of them for this fight! This is SO tough to call, Hare. I mean, really tough! How do you even consider going against Machado, who is undefeated and has run through everybody? At the same time, how do you not take the ground game of Lannister seriously, with proper and due respect? Lannister let the championship opportunity slip away once before…something he has to have nightmares about, because the opportunity to win that fight was in his grasp, literally. I think he comes in with an undeniable fire in his gut…and eyes…and wants this bad. But he has to be sure he’s not too tight! Machado can prove himself the beast he is once again with a win here…if he gets this in the clinch, and brutalizes yet another opponent…if he can prevent takedowns by a guy who has always gotten them…or more even, if he can survive being taken down and not get submitted…he’s going to start the process of cementing his legacy! I’m picking Lannister here, but only because you’re making me pick Hare…I just want to watch this one! Bring on the action!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Oh my! What a card we have on tap for you folks tonight! If you get the feeling as you go through this preview that the excitement, that the action and the pace, that the anticipation and the energy…all of that…if all of that is going to be building all night long and ending in an explosion with the Main Events…well, damn it, I think you’re right! Get your asses there folks! That’s all I have to say!

So, till tonight…remember…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

"Wrong! I had a lot of drinking to do! I tried to forget that horrible performance I laid! I knew I should have had a drink before the fight. Oh well, I fired J.W.'s bum arse, I lost the fight because of him. I'll get me a new manager and be back in no time!"

Machado: Don't worry, it will be a cheap night at the pub for you with your head spinning already as you leave the cage.

Machado, serious question. Do you plan on defending that title against any legitimate competition? Or just continue to wipe out BJJ players who get cut after the fight because they couldn't hack it. Just curious. Asking for a friend. As far as I'm concerned, the REAL 185-pound champion of Sucker Punch is Psiris Fuhren. The only reason you can even call yourself "Champion" in those cheap car rental commercials you do is because Fuhren wasn't signed in time for the 185-pound tournament.

Good times, Donkey, good times! And you know what I’m a little surprised by Donkey? Not a single actual knockout all night in this one!!! Wow, these kids can take a punch apparently! Sure, a few TKO’s throughout, but no pure “badda-bing-badda-boom, you’re out son!” moments!

So, let’s hear from our merchandise partner and sponsor, and then get to the good stuff!

Undercard Bout #1: Lightweight

Cormac Mac Airt Defeats Phony Phontana via Unanimous Decision

We got things going the other night with a small one round, three minute sparring session between these two young hopefuls. Neither came out really looking to do a ton of damage, instead intent upon just showing their respective managers what they had going for them and hoping to impress enough to earn a way onto the permanent roster.

Mac Airt was the more experienced fighter, if you can call a couple weeks “experience”, in this fight. And as such, he came out with a varied attack that left Phontana’s sole reliance upon his hands in the dust. With both effective kicks and strikes, Mac Airt was able to score enough points in the three minute bout to impress the judges and get the victory. I’m sure that’ll put a smile on Esiah Xavier’s face…good for him! Haha.

Donkey, not much to say here, you have anything…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Mac Airt won, so we don’t learn much more about his confidence or morale. What we do know is that he showed a good chin, and so far he appears to still be on Esiah Xavier’s roster…so perhaps his learning speed is good enough that he’s being given a chance! For Phontana, we know he has a fairly fast learning speed, because…well, Hare wouldn’t stop telling me about it all night before the fight! He lost about 20% morale after being defeated, which isn’t fantastic but also isn’t awful. He did show that he’s heavy handed as well, so that is something that I had to hear about from Hare for the REST of the evening. Let’s just hope he has some chin to go with those hands.

Undercard Bout #2: Heavyweight

Bomb Squad Lighting Hands Defeats Dookie Shoes via Submission (Kimura)

Donkey had stated this was a guaranteed win for Hands, and sure enough, he was dead on with that prediction. He got the pick right, but Hands did surprise us with a quick submission victory rather than winnings with…well, his hands.

The other portion of his prediction was that Shoes, who came into this fight unprepared (again), was going to be looking for new work after this fight. That was pretty much a given, so much so that it turns out even Chris Griffin, his now ex-manager, was ready to let him go also. I guess not only did we, the management here at Sucker Punch, know that it was time to move on from Shoes, but his manager knew it as well. That’s actually a positive, as I now very much root for Chris Griffin to have great luck with the next project he signs on, or potentially the next big free agent pickup he goes after. It’s for the best!

So as we said, this fight was over with a quickness. Shoes, having no confidence or focus, was unable to stop the immediate takedown by BSLH right after the bell! This thing was on the canvas in a jiffy, and a moment later Hands was going for his first submission attempt, trying to get hold of a leg. That one didn’t work out, but after a couple transitions into a better position Hands was at it again, this time trying for, and landing a beauty of a kimura! Thirty-nine seconds, into the ring, out of the ring, chalk up a W and let’s get back to work for next month!

How about that Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

This is exactly what you’d expect to see, and need to see, from Hands in this fight. Up against an opponent who gave every indication he wasn’t here to win, you have to come out and decisively take the victory that’s being offered to you. Hands did just that, and that’s very positive for him and a momentum builder if he can take it and run with it into his fight next month! With this win, he now has full morale, didn’t lose much energy and can basically get right back to training with zero lost time. He should be prepared to have a great fight in his next one, another that he very much needs to win!

Undercard Bout #3: Heavyweight

Rick Hatton Defeats Tnt Winner via TKO (Strikes)

Oooh, apparently Donkey has brushed off his big whiffs in the prior card earlier last week and gotten his swagger back on when it comes to nailing the picks! Good for you Donkey, like any good quarterback or pitcher, you have to have a short memory with this stuff! Donkey cracks this one right on the head with a perfect call for Hatton with the win via TKO (Strikes)!

In the little over a minute that this fight lasted, Winner took four shots at scoring a takedown, unsuccessfully. Now, the question may be…could he have been more successful if he mixed it up a bit and wasn’t so hell bent on just a takedown? If he was a little less predictable, offering to put a hand or kick out there a bit? Who knows, because he didn’t. The other question will more obviously be…if he’d come in with full morale rather than being down 30%, might he have had a bit more confidence to drive through and complete a takedown? I personally think, “Yes”, and for me, that’s the difference in this fight.

Instead, Hatton was able to focus on simply sitting back, waiting for Winner to come at him, shrug off the takedown, and then strike with pinpoint accuracy! It only took one minute of those strikes for him to land a huge left that set up the finish and had the ref stepping in!

Over to you Donkey, got some more for us…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A big, big opportunity lost for Winner by not coming into this one prepared. Fortunately, he’s still got a good record going and can bounce back from this with more dedication this coming month. For Hatton, another win means he keeps climbing the ladder and his next fight will likely be one that determines if he’s ready to think about a fight for top contendership. Huge opportunities on the horizon, now he just needs to stay focused, one fight at a time!

Suzy caught up with Hatton as he exited the cage along with his manager Kyle F who was standing next to her waiting as well…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, a more than successful night for you both, this was a huge win and will do amazing things in moving you forward on the ladder. How do you feel about the way things went and did you see things you expected in there in the cage?

Rick Hatton: Winner was the biggest test to date in my career. No disrespect to Winner but he came in over confident and with the exact same strategy that he has used in all of his previous fights. I knew if I stayed on the outside and made him advance first it was always going to be a takedown attempt. So, easy money today. Wait for the shot and make him pay every time. My hats off to him you don’t go 6-1 without being talented but this is MMA you need to have a complete game. I’d like to slap around Emir who chickened out on fighting me or take on Rumble or Steve Norton who I know are game fighters.

Kyle F: Hatton followed the game plan and it worked. Pick your spots and counter on mistakes. We knew as a team we could make Winner pay for only utilizing one tactic. That said, if he hit the takedown we knew we were in trouble. Lots of wrestling and grappling training went into this fight. Hatton is a game fighter who is inclined to come forward and throw hands. This fight being patient and rounded is what got us the win. 1 or 2 more wins and Hatton could be in title contention in my option. He’s come a long way since his original 0-3 start.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Fantastic stuff gentlemen! I know when we were up in the “war room” back at the main office Hare had a ton of stuff laid out on the board, and I’m pretty sure he has plans for you guys when it comes to next steps and matchups. We’ll have to see how they overlap or not with your callouts, but either way, we know you’ll come ready to go! Good luck, go back to the hotel and enjoy celebrating!

Undercard Bout #4: Heavyweight

Steve Norton Defeats Ivan Aure via Unanimous Decision

Ok Donkey, this one was a win for Norton. And I’m never one to discount a win, because a win is a win is a win! But…are all wins created equal? Sometimes not.

Aure came into this fight with everything going against him. Low morale, zero energy…and I do mean ZERO energy…and an absent manager. Yet…somehow, he stayed on his feet and managed to get this to go the distance against Norton! So…either despite the lack of energy and morale…this kid has some HUGE heart hidden away…or…well…Norton very disappointingly failed to finish an opponent who had zero right being around longer than the first minute or two, much less fifteen!

What we failed to properly take note of in the preview, and actually misattributed Norton’s management due to this oversight, was that Norton is no longer managed by Rei. Instead, he is now managed by Marco Terhi. This was Mr. Terhi’s first win managing, with three losses prior. So…some rope has to be given here, as clearly he will be figuring things out as he goes and improving, refining and streamlining his approach to fights with time. But yes, this is one he’s going to want to look back on, and question, “What could I have done differently to finish a fight that, by all means, should have been finished?”

So, what do you say Donkey...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Aure is no longer with Sucker Punch after his first and only fight with us here. That fate was predetermined and clear based upon Hare’s nasty look in the eye when he talked about this fight during the previews. Yes, the fight should have been finished, but you also hope that this puts a fire in new manager Marco Terhi’s stomach and a hunger for more wins now that he’s gotten one! Should that occur, we may be seeing the makings of a future great manager perhaps! I can’t wait to see what he does next month in the next fight.

Undercard Bout #5: Middleweight

Angenor De Oliveira Defeats Brendan Moker via Submission (Armbar)

Donkey, you are on FIRE this card! Wow, talk about bouncing back from that last horrendously called card on your part! But yeah, got it going on this time brother! This one, I believe, makes 4-0 so far, and again, with the perfect call on it! Which is, may I say somewhat conceited here, a bit impressive given this one could have been looked at as an upset with De Oliveira coming in less than prepared, yet making the call to walk away from the normal tendency to pick against that.

It took De Oliveira just under three minutes to find a way to nail down a submission in this contest! Here’s the thing though…Moker more than had his chance in this one…and will likely be kicking himself for weeks after this over not finishing! Less than a minute in, Moker rocked De Oliveira with a few straights that went right through the hands and defense, then, a dozen or so seconds later, he brought the pain with a left and right that sent De Oliveira to the ground! Then, Moker got mount on top of all that…but rather than stay down there in dangerous territory, he made what may be considered the smart move and stood back up.

That’s where perhaps he might have wanted to take note of the wise intentions and stay focused, because about a minute later, yep, he landed a huge right again, taking De Oliveira clean off his feet for the second time! Again though, Moker dove in, this time landing in guard…but unable to get the quick upper hand and finish. The smarter move might have been to wave De Oliveira back to the feet and try to finish-finish it…but hindsight is 20/20 as they say!

Instead, he found himself in a tricky spot, and while looking for opportunities, he left an arm out there that was just too tempting…and allowed De Oliveira probably the only shot he had at winning this fight…and sure enough, it’ll haunt Moker!

Unbelievable sudden turn of events there, eh Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A shame for Moker. He just about cashed in on the advantages that De Oliveira was giving up with energy and morale in this fight and had him dead to rights. Unfortunately, he went the one place he never should have against a ground specialist, and paid the price for it. De Oliveira should be thanking whatever gods he prays to for that gift! Moker on the other hand may want to take a close look at those strategic decisions going forward with his manager and plan accordingly and appropriate for the opponent! Being 2-3 rather than 3-2 is going to be hard to swallow until his next fight and his next chance to even up his record again.

Main Card Bout #1: Middleweight

Jacques Piaget Defeats Toth Orion via TKO (Strikes)

As we move into the Main Card here, we get to one of the more anticipated, at least for me, fights of the evening. Not because the other fighters on the card aren’t talented, but just due to the potential for some explosive fireworks and kicks in this one!

Piaget has won twice already in his career via head kick…and came about as close as you could a third time three fights back. He came out in this fight and was landing body kicks, leg kicks, head kicks, hell, you name it, he was kicking it! Ok…well…um, he didn’t kick THAT, Donkey! But still, this thing was insane, to the point that Piaget sent Orion crashing to the mat not once…not twice…but THREE times with huge kicks to the head! And yet…Orion bounced back! WOW.

You really have to give it to Orion, that granite chin of his is stellar…obviously…but you also have to hope it didn’t get permanently damaged going forward after the shots he took in this one! Piaget was owning and controlling the action in this fight, landing an obscenely accurate percent of his shots and, on the flipside, preventing anything finding its mark from Orion. Great striking, great preparation defensively, it all came together in this fight for Piaget.

Finally, with a little less than a minute to go in the first round, Piaget landed the uppercut that sent Orion reeling and shortly after had the ref stepping in.

Donkey, thoughts here…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Well, it may not have ended with a huge head kick KO like I know you were hoping for, Hare, but that didn’t stop the lightning strikes from those kicks from happening! The fans were LOVING this thing as one of the highest rated fights of the night. I’m shocked that Piaget was able to take over and steer this fight as much as he did, not due to lack of belief in his skills, but just because we saw this as such a closely matched fight with Orion! Like you said, Orion can certainly weather a beating…but now, can he learn to dish one out more consistently as well??? Here’s a concern…Orion’s morale dropped to almost zero after this fight. That’s not a good sign, and may mean a big lack of confidence on his part. His manager is going to need to start working on rebuilding that confidence now, with constant clothing changes, before next month’s fight! Piaget has now strung two wins together, and if he can keep building on that, the sky’s the limit!

Main Card Bout #2: Middleweight

Bonjour Arrivederci Defeats D B Cooper via Submission (RNC)

Donkey… 6-0 my man. Wow. You’re just hot. Hotter than hot! Can you go the distance this time?!? Starting to feel the pressure a bit?!? Nah, you’re a gamer, of course not. Besides, it’s not like you get to go back and revise picks, they’re already in, so what pressure, am I right?

Arrivederci came bursting on to the Sucker Punch scene with this fight, coming in with a 5-0 record and tacking another onto the left hand column there by the end of this thing! Despite not being completely prepared…but, as we talked about in the preview…clearly the manager is making efforts to correct that…Cooper managed to drag this fight out longer than I think most thought it would be! Arrivederci had a ton of opportunities through the first two full rounds to put this thing away, and was fended off by Cooper repeatedly on the ground, which is right where Arrivederci wanted this fight.

And that’s where Cooper really had a problem the entire fight. He was very much on the defensive the entire time due to a lack of ability to prevent the takedowns…and he needed to be on his feet to have any hope of doing some damage. He landed a couple shots here and there before the takedowns would occur, but mostly this was a matter of him trying to stay alive, keep from getting pummeled on on the ground, and at the same time, avoid the subs from Arrivederci.

There was only going to be so much he could do to be successful with that though given the amount of time in this fight that Cooper spent on the ground in a bad position. Once Arrivederci took his back the end was only a formality.

Donkey, how bout it bud…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Arrivederci did exactly what we expected Hare, which was to depend upon that granite chin to hold up and take a shot or two in the process of coming in and getting a takedown. He was in control the entire fight and you have to give Cooper credit for lasting as long as he did. Now, about that. Cooper was 2-5 coming into this fight…and now drops to 2-6. He’s now 1-4 since being with Sucker Punch. Normally, that would buy you a ticket out of Dodge. However…I know you’re leaning towards a bit of leeway here Hare, being that his manager is taking steps to improve. It can’t be stated strongly enough how much that opportunity needs to bear fruit over the next month. Hopefully he’s at home recovering, changing clothes to get the morale up, resting to get the energy up, and comes in ready to win next time. Because clearly he has to. For Arrivederci, the skies are looking sunny and blue! At 6-0 now, he should find himself solidly in the Top 10 when the rankings are next updated and moving up fast!

Main Card Bout #3: Middleweight

Jim Beam Defeats Kirill Krasnov via Unanimous Decision

Ohhhhhh! And Donkey’s perfect streak goes RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW folks, courtesy of Jim Beam! Don’t worry Donkey, Jim Beam has ruined many a night for people…but usually it’s after a long night out at the club or bar! Ha.

Beam, a bit surprisingly here I might add, did exactly what he needed to do to win this fight if it were to make it to the judges, which it did! In the first round, he worked the standup well, scoring when he could and then, much to my big surprise, he actually pulled guard from the clinch and took this thing to the ground! I thought for sure he was going to be in trouble there with Krasnov not just being on the ground, but also having the top. But instead it was Beam who tried for a submission! Wow.

In the second round, the two spent a lot of time in standup before the fight finally went to the ground due to a Krasnov takedown. Again, Beam scored enough points and then Krasnov got to work trying to finish it with subs on the ground, but was unsuccessful with two Americana attempts.

To finish off the fight, we went into the third and again, a few key points from Beam in standup, and then Krasnov got the takedown much earlier than he had previously. This is where I thought to myself, “This can’t last being down this early in the round!”. Impressively, Beam fought off six sub attempts from Krasnov over the next couple minutes in the round though…and this round was pretty much won when Beam managed to sneak into mount on a failed sweep by Krasnov with only a little under a minute left! He didn’t finish it from there, but he certainly put himself in a position where the danger was averted!

Donkey, over to you, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Beam followed through on the general strategy we thought he might. He kept it in standup when he could, for the most part barring that first round pulling of guard on his part, wore Krasnov down some with denied takedown attempts and then as prepared to do his best to stay alive once the inevitable ground situations surfaced. Can’t ask for much more than that, and for his effort, Beam gets a W! That makes it two in a row for Beam, and he’s now got something strong to build upon after starting out 0-3! For Krasnov, a disappointing loss I’m sure. He had to be thinking he was going to even things up at 4-4 and walk out ready to make strides up the ladder. Now, at 3-5 instead, and 1-3 in his past four, he needs to regroup, recharge, and come in with focus and a plan next month before things start to slip out of control!

Co-Main Event

Middleweight Bout

Ivan Smirnov Defeats Scott Summers via TKO (Strikes)

Our Co-Main Event brought us a fight that we thought was going to be really exciting to see how each of these kids approached things, given such closely matched skillsets and prior tendencies to go to the ground! Well, boy did these two surprise us! Sometimes, the fights just don’t go as you expect them to, and this was certainly one of those.

That’s not to say that this fight didn’t go to the ground, because it did. It went to the ground in the first, twice, and then again in the second round very early before the first minute concluded. But here’s the thing that I didn’t expect, Donkey…and that’s that these two were both so good defensively on the ground that while down there, it became a battle for controlling position and trying to sneak anything at all through. And not much was able to be snuck through! Smirnov had his chances in the first, but Summers was excellent in locking it down and getting the standup.

Same with the takedown in the second…again Smirnov gets it to the ground, but Summers just closes shop and stifles all attempts to get anything going. So this fight, despite both being so accomplished on the ground, was really determined on the feet! Summers was doing extremely well there, landing a good number of shots, and should this fight have eventually gone to the judges, might have won a decision. But…much like we suspected from his last fight with all those shots on the ground that landed, we don’t think these had a lot behind them either. That can’t be said for Smirnov’s shots.

Smirnov may have landed fewer shots, but clearly the ones he did land had some pop…and just before the end of the second…literally, seconds before…he got one through that rocked Summers good…setting up the big uppercut a few seconds later that ended things!

Donkey, did it turn into fight of the night…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Unfortunately, probably not Hare. I know you probably loved it as I know you love your ground battles when the ones involved have a high level of skill. But unfortunately, you have to take the general fan into consideration also and how it’s being received and the energy being generated, and for the majority of fans watching, this was probably a bit boring for a good portion of the fight. Based on fight rating, it didn’t do poorly, but there are probably better options for the Fight of the Night honors. That said, these two did have a good one, a chess match in some ways. At least checkers if not! Ha. Smirnov moves to a fantastic 4-1 now with his only loss to Buster Scruggs. He’ll find himself in the upper portion of the Top 10, and if not, very close to it! For Summers, this will push him to 2-3 and unfortunately probably working to regain his Top 10 status in coming fights. A big win next fight could help him a lot. A loss is not something he wants though, so he needs to come back with a vengeance!

Main Event

Welterweight Championship Bout

Wanderson Machado (Champion: 5-0-0) vs. Tyrion Lannister (Top Contender: 8-1-0)

Ohhhhh yeah, Donkey!!!! Now it’s ON! Main Event baby, and for the Sucker Punch Middleweight Championship of the World! Yep, I’d been waiting for this one for WEEKS Donkey!!! Probably right along with you, Suzy, these two fighters…and untold numbers of Sucker Punch fans out there around the world! Juice Fluffer headed over into the cage, and this is the replay of how things got going…

3d8a168f5f8ff8e520307ef15bdabf4c.png

Juice Fluffer enters the cage…

“Ladies and gentlemen…this is the Maaaain Event of the evening!”

“The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.”

“Our sponsor for this event is Shadow Warrior Nutrition.”

“Annnnnnnd Now! For those in attendance and Sucker Punch fans around the world…this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for!”

“LIVE!, from Schooners Bar in Sydney, Australia…”

“Iiiiit’s TIIIIIIIME! Five rounds for the Undisputed Sucker Punch Pro Series Middleweight Championship of the World!”

“Introducing first…fighting out of the blue corner. With professional record of eight wins, one loss and NO draws, he stands 180 centimeters tall, weighing in at 186 pounds and 26 years of age, hailing from New York, United States and fighting out of Montreal, Canada…the Sucker Punch Pro Series Middleweight #1 Contender, the CHALLENGER, Tyrrrrrriiiiiion… “The Immmmmp”…LANNNNISTERRRR!!!

“And now…FIGHTING…out of the red corner. Holding a professional record of SIX wins, NO losses and NO draws, he stands 175 centimeters tall, weighing in at 185 pounds and 20 years of age, fighting out of London, England and hailing from Boavista, Brazil…The Winner of the Sucker Punch Pro Series Middleweight Cockshot Sorter Series…AND THE REIGNING….DEFENDING…UNNNNNNDISPUTED Sucker Punch Pro Series Middleweight Champion of the World, Wanderson...MACHAAAAADOOOOO!!!

And seconds, I mean, literally, seconds into this one we had the answer to the first of our many questions about these two Donkey! Can Lannister, a highly skilled and accomplished ground specialist who has been able to successfully get every opponent to the ground in his career…do the same with Machado? The answer…yes, yes he could!

And Donkey, I won’t lie…when that happened…and I saw him go for his first sub…I immediately thought, “OMG…he’s going to win this…and fast!!!” And then…the unbelievable happened…we got the answer to our second question about these two…which was… “If Machado gets taken down…will he be able to survive the likes of Lannister, an even more accomplished ground artist than even Kiril Krasnov, who Machado managed to control and outlast to get a standup?

The answer was…yes and no! Yes, Machado was able to survive being on the ground with Lannister…and manage to fend off not one, not two, not three…hell, not ten submission attempts…but…get this Donkey…SIXTEEN over the course of the first round!!!! And got out of the round, while still on the ground at the bell. WOW! MUCH RESPECT to this champion! You have to wonder though…if Lannister had a more balanced ground attack, even a little bit more ground and pound, something to distract and add some depth and extra dimension to his attack…could he have finished a submission down there?

Round Two! Machado came out firing…almost in a, “Ok, you had your turn…now it’s my turn!” scenario! Lannister missed a takedown, which may very well have changed the course of this fight. Instead, Machado continued to lay on the abuse in the first minute…also, surprisingly, choosing NOT to take it to the clinch and instead staying separated. Maybe to prevent the opportunity to pull guard there for Lannister? Probably a hell of a smart decision. But it was almost l like the fight and will had been sucked out of Lannister at this point from all those missed submissions in the first round. And every shot he took from Machado was like a mocking blow for each missed sub!

Just after one minute in…Lannister’s hands dropped for just a split second…and BAM!...Machado was not one to miss an opportunity like that and nailed him with a right hook that dropped Lannister to a knee! Big trouble for Lannister there Donkey! He was rocked, and it was only another coule big shots before Lannister was against the cage, taking abuse and the ref was stepping in to pull the champ away!

Juice Fluffer enters the cage as the referee has both fighters in the middle of the cage…

“Ladies and gentlemen, our referee has called a stop to this contest at one minute and eleven seconds of round number two…”

“Declaring the winner…by technical knockout…ANNNNNNDDDD STILLLLLL…Sucker Punch Pro Series…UNNNNNDISPUTEDDDDD…Middleweight Champion of the World…Wandersonnnnnn…MACHAAADDOOOO!!!!

HE DID IT DONKEY! MACHADO IS STILL OUR CHAMP! He survived a HUGE challenge from a talented Lannister and comes away still Champion…and takes his second step on the path to cementing a legacy here at Sucker Punch Pro Series!

What do you say Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I don’t really have a lot to say here Hare! I’m still just in shock at the turn of events in this fight, how these two rounds were such polar opposites and how we got to see two completely different phases of this fight! Wow! This was awesome! Machado is a hell of a champ, we’re blessed to have these great fighters in our org here at Sucker Punch Pro Series!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Sucker Punch Preview

Sucker Punch Pro Series 3

Hello Sucker Punch fans, I’m Hare Rumpler and I’m joined by my partner and analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and Suzy Sucker Punch, our room brightening media correspondent! We’re here to take a look forward to tonight’s anticipated event which will take place at the Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney!

The Heavyweight title comes back around for the month on this card, with a huge showdown between Thoth Chontamenti and Rumble Johnson waiting for us this evening! That fight is sure to bring the fireworks as the two big boys lay everything on the line for the belt!

In addition, this card will have a great mix for us and the fans! There’s some Featherweight action on the card to start out the evening, several more Heavyweight battles between up and comers and at least one fight that will determine a future top contender most likely and several Middleweight bouts that are all sure to please Sucker Punch fans everywhere! Two of those Middleweight fights are also going to determine top contenders going forward for the next couple months, with a much anticipated and hyped fight between Psiris Fuhren and Longsun Zhao…and if you haven’t been watching the forums, then you’ve been missing out on quite a bit of fun!...as well as highly touted Kribbson Diaz facing off with Rob Tanner to determine who is going to get a shot in October!

So needless to say, there’s a ton on the line tonight with this card, and every reason for the fans in attendance, and those watching worldwide, to be as hyped as these combatants will be when they enter the cage tonight! Can’t wait to see it all, but for now, let’s talk about our sponsor and merchandise partner before we peek at each of our upcoming fights in a little more detail!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Shadow Warrior Nutrition will be on hand at the event this evening, and I cannot say enough about how much we appreciate having them as our merchandise partner and sponsor here at Sucker Punch! Do yourself a favor…better yet, do your fighters who you spend so much time developing and preparing a favor…and stop by the stand to grab some of their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q. It is literally the best energy loss reduction supplement money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting! Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Undercard Bout #1: Featherweight

Yellow Belt Casey (2-1-0) vs, Adrian Petrov (3-7-0)

We start off the evening with a fight that, quite frankly Donkey, should bring about as much energy and intensity as you can muster to the cage! Why? Because Petrov needs this fight in the worst way! And when your back is against the wall, you’d think it would bring out the absolute very best and a high level of intensity.

I’m not sure we succeeded in this Hail Mary there Donkey, sadly. Petrov comes into this fight with a 3-7 record, 1-2 since joining Sucker Punch. When he first came to us, we knew he was 2-5 up to that point, but we had some high hopes for him. With a solid ground game as a base to work with he had the potentially to use what he had to get wins against reasonable competition while beginning to refine his skillsets and build going forward. He did manage to score a win against O Chen Purjalsta three fights back. However, unfortunately, against a couple fighters both before and after joining Sucker Punch that were younger, training less time and in most cases lesser overall skilled in the main primary areas, he’s struggled to find a way to win. That was the case with Jack Sparrow last month and Pierre Bonin just before joining Sucker Punch. And the reason, at least to us, was clear…lack of preparation. For instance, he came into the fight last month with zero morale.

So this month, with Petrov lingering at the bottom of the division, we decided to throw a fight out there that should really push him to come in as prepared as possible knowing that it was probably the “last chance after the last chance” so to speak. We were an odd man out, so we went outside the org and brought in Aylib’s young fighter, Yellow Belt Casey, for this fight. Our thoughts on it were this…yes, Casey’s younger…which means he’s pushing at this point to catch up to and potentially overtake older competition. But his creation was higher which means Petrov has been training longer. Casey does have stronger primaries…while Petrov has the better wrestling, Casey has some standup skills which Petrov does not, but also has a brown belt versus Casey’s purple one in Jiu Jitsu. If ever there was a need to come in absolutely prepared in order to have a shot to bounce back and find a way, this was it.

We think that Petrov’s management must have made some effort here over this past month. As mentioned, his morale going into his last fight was zero, and he lost, so it didn’t improve due to a win. But he’s now at about 50%...so…clearly management stepped in! We just think maybe it was a little too late in the month when it happened. But can he still show some forward progress, or will he get submitted in the first minute in this one? We’re going to find out.

Donkey, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Pick: Casey via Submission (Kimura)

My God, Hare! Could you go any more round-about and take any longer to get to the point there? Folks, let’s just make this simple. What Hare is saying is, Petrov’s been on his last legs these past two fights, he’s come in unprepared and underperformed against competition he should have been able to beat or be competitive with. So he was put up against a stronger fighter this time around purposely to see how he and his management reacted and to determine if there was any hope of change going forward. It seems there may be a glimmer of life, being that the morale improved some, but not enough. If he can show “something” here, he might be given one more shot after this against a very equal opponent. But he has to show something. Casey is going to win this one due to skill and Petrov coming in still not fully prepared though. There Hare, sheesh. Hare-splain things much?!?

Undercard Bout #2: Featherweight

Jack Reacher (0-5-0) vs. Alex Kozlovski (4-3-0)

Our second bout of the evening will see un-feated Jack Reacher face Alex Kozlovski in the cage. Both of these fighters come into the fight less than prepared, which isn’t going to make Donkey happy. Hell, let’s be honest here, as the CEO of things here at Sucker Punch, it doesn’t make ME happy!

Fortunately for Kozlovski, he’s likely going to walk away with a win tonight despite being about 35% low on morale. Which is an improvement over last month, when he came in both low on morale and energy! That won’t change the fact that he’s on thin ice though and will definitely need to start focusing on the little things to be successful and ensure he sees his full fight contract out! The fact that he’s still wearing his tighty-whities indicates that there was nothing done to try to improve the morale situation.

Reacher however, has…well…”reached” the end of his rope. He came into his last fight with his morale down. He comes into this fight with ZERO morale. And he’s 0-5 on his career, with four of those losses coming here at Sucker Punch. And, he’s not training at this time, with no gym. Clearly Franky Sin, despite being a seasoned vet to the management game, has very little interest in seeing Reacher succeed. And therefore, neither should we any further, to be quite frank and blunt.

Reacher has wonderful boxing and a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu. Koz has proficient boxing, respectable wrestling but a white belt in Jiu Jitsu. I expect both he and Reacher will want to stand and bang in this one, with Reacher lacking the confidence or intensity to do much other than take a few shots and then have the ref step in.

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Kozlovski via TKO (Strikes)

That’s probably about right Hare. I’m a bit disgusted with this fight, so I don’t have a lot to say here. Even a win, will not be a “win” for whoever gets it. Reacher’s time has come to an end here at Sucker Punch, and Kozlovski, although not with us long, is on very thin ice. If he comes in unprepared next month, even should he win tonight, I expect it may be his last fight with us. Hopefully he’ll get those clothes changed and be ready to come in here at his very best next time around!

Undercard Bout #3: Heavyweight

Rob Gaunce (4-1-0) vs. Aron Egomi (3-6-0)

Ok Donkey, here we go! Some Heavyweights up next for us! Wow, all that negativity in the first two fights was really starting to bring me down man! So I have to remember to keep things in perspective and not have it snowball in my mind and heart when I address other issues, you know Donkey? That’s important, especially here heading into this fight discussion.

I say that because we will see Rob Gaunce face off against Aron Egomi! This is a fight that normally I’d be drooling over! Now, what’s surprising…and this is the reason I say I need to step back, settle down, and keep a straight head…is that Gaunce is coming into this fight with his morale down. This is a fighter who up until his last fight against Random Lik was 4-0, and has typically always come ready to go! He does come into this fully topped off on energy…but that loss last month brought his morale down some…and I’m betting his manager simply forgot he needed to address that. Which is done via clothing changes. Let’s hope he works on that for next month. It’s a shame, because his chances at bouncing back from that loss may be hampered tonight now.

Gaunce is the better boxer in this fight, but Egomi is the better Jiu Jitsu artist. Gaunce cannot overlook Egomi in this fight, despite record. Egomi’s record is very, very deceiving and as we mentioned, Gaunce may regret coming in with less than a full head of confidence for this fight. Yes, Egomi is 3-6 overall, and 2-2 since joining Sucker Punch. But we’ve talked about this before…he was used, abused and basically mistreated in the worst way when at SAFO. So forget about that portion of the record. Let’s focus on 2-2. He was off to a great start here at Sucker Punch, winning in the first two rounds of the Heavyweight Sorter Series tournament. Then, he ran into Thoth Chontamenti. Yes, that Chontamenti…the one who is now our current champion! Then, he had a fight against Rumble Johnson to see who could become top contender. Johnson won that fight, but again, we’re talking top level competition to see who deserves to be #2 in the division!

Despite the morale issue, Egomi will still have his hands full with Gaunce tonight! Gaunce is a scary opponent with a range of tools he can use against you! He can make you pay on the feet, he can handle you on the ground and in doing so, he can either submit you or pound you into oblivion. Pick your poison. Actually, Gaunce will pick that for you, or many times, take what is offered. He’s flexible with his attack and will mix it up to keep you off-balanced and unprepared for what may come next!

Over to you Donkey, what do ya have for us…?

Donkey’s Pick: Egomi via Submission (Armbar)

Hare, you talk about Gaunce’s range of skills and variety of attack, but I think you’re forgetting that Egomi is just as flexible when it comes to how he can bring it at you! And he is technically the stronger ground fighter with his purple belt. I think if this gets to the ground it becomes a chess match between two very talented fighters, but that at some point an arm gets left in there, dangerously, and Egomi takes advantage of it! He’s been fighting top level competition the past two months, about as top level as you get, and while Gaunce is also right up there, Egomi may be ready for that level of intensity…and Gaunces lacking morale may bite him.

Suzy was able to catch up with Aron Egomi’s manager, Rob Hell, earlier this week after several unreturned phone calls…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Mr. Hell, it’s great to finally catch up with you. How are preparations going with Aron for this upcoming fight against a very tough Rob Gaunce?

Rob Hell: I recently came home from the hospital. For a month now, I’ve only been in touch with guys via skype. I hope the coaches did a good job.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Why were you in hospital?

Rob Hell: Just a little accident. I tried sparring with my guys.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Wow, bad news, and decision-making on Rob Hell’s part, good news for Aron Egomi if he had anything to do with dishing out the pain! Potentially bad news for Rob Gaunce as well!

Undercard Bout #4: Heavyweight

Emir Dervisevic (4-4-0) vs. Sith Rebel (2-1-0)

Donkey, it’s a bit disturbing to me that we’re four fights into this card, and yet we’re still dealing with issues of preparedness. Which very clearly tells me something…that it’s time to start pruning and cleaning up the divisions in terms of those who want to compete at a high level and those who aren’t there to give it their best.

We have another repeat offender here in Emir Dervisevic in that he comes in with zero morale…again. Somehow, he managed a win against Andrejs Medvedevs last month despite the morale issues. That says more about Medvedevs than it does about Dervisevic though, as Medvedevs had only defeated Dookie Shoes up to that point, another repeated offended when it comes to lack of preparation, and one that we let go after last month’s fights.

When the eventual loss to Sith Rebel comes tonight, due to a brutal ground game where Sith will likely take the fight to the ground, and then initiate some nasty ground and pound until the ref jumps in to stop the abuse, Emir’s camp will likely blame it on being up against a stronger opponent. Despite being 8 years older, having a 1k creation advantage, etc. The reality is that lack of preparation is the biggest killer and Dervisevic has had plenty of opportunities against the likes of Medvedevs and Ripper in the past.

So, what do you say Donkey...?

Donkey’s Pick: Rebel via TKO (Strikes)

You already said it Hare. Sith will take this to the ground and win it from there. I’d be shocked if anything other than that happens, as Dervisevic will not have the morale or confidence to stop the takedown attempts. Sith will improve to 3-1, having only lost to a talented submission artist in Tnt Winner up to this point and be ready for the next challenge that awaits him! Rebel is almost always prepared, so makes the best of every opportunity that awaits him, and next fight should be no different. If he wins again after this assumed win, he’ll be looking at figuring out where he belongs in the Top 10!

Undercard Bout #5: Heavyweight

Mike Badmean (2-0-0) vs. Gary Porter (3-0-0)

We finish up our Undercard here with two fighters who bring undefeated records to the table…as well as a readiness to get in there and give it their all! Donkey, here we go man, turning the corner and we’ve got guys gassed up and heading in with focus!

Badmean heads into this thing 2-0 and boasts a wicked set of Muay Thai and grappling skills…which are only bested by the wicked set of elbows he has that appear to be entirely too pointy! He made his Sucker Punch debut last month against Brian Mcclean and we questioned whether the prior fight, which ended via cuts against Ronald Strawberry, was just a one-off thing or if this man seriously used those elbows like razorblades. We, and Mcclean, got our answer as Badmean came out once again with those elbows flying, opening up Mcclean and eventually having the doc come in to stop the fight due to cuts…yet again.

Porter is a wrestler who loves to take you to the ground and dish out the pain! Last month, during his Sucker Punch debut as well, he defeated Devin Hill by controlling the fight, taking it to the canvas and doling out some serious shots to the tune of fifty on the ground…landing them all!

I don’t expect Badmean nor Porter to change their tactics. There’s no reason to expect that Badmean won’t try to take this to the clinch and once again dish out a nasty helping of elbows! At the same time, Porter will likely try to drop this thing to the ground, establish his position on top and rain down the pain from there! Can he get it there without getting clipped by those elbows though, and in getting too close, will he be able to avoid getting trapped in the clinch? His grappling skills as a wonderful wrestler should help him considerably in that regard!

Any thoughts there Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Porter via TKO (Strikes)

If Porter had plans to go on to acting or modeling as a celebrity at some point, he may want to be very wary of Badmean in this fight! It’s going to be tough to avoid Badmean’s brutal elbows unless he can get this thing to the ground before it ever gets to the clinch! However, even if it does go to the clinch, and some blood is drawn as payment for his trouble, I think at some point this goes to the ground and once there Porter should have the advantage. Badmean does NOT lack in wrestling though, so if he can managed to control the action and prevent the rain of abuse that Porter dished out in his last fight, he might be able to get this back to the feet and surprise us all! This is a great fight though and easily could vie for Fight of the Night, if not at least the messiest!

Main Card Bout #1: Middleweight

Buster Scruggs (3-1-0) vs. Nyah Hirst (2-0-0)

We have a Middleweight fight to start off the top of the card here, with two fighters who were pretty anxious to get their hands on each other this month! Hirst had a good feeling he could handle Scruggs when we were talking to him, and likewise Scruggs indicated he was ready for all comers in the division, but was more than happy to use Hirst as a stepping stone prior to moving up and going for a top contender shot! So clearly both of these men see this as a winnable fight for them and both of them have a lot on the line going into tonight!

Hirst is a scrappy young fighter managed by Xyel Pain. Primarily a standup fighter with wonderful boxing complimented by strong Muay Thai and wrestling skills, he does not have much to go on in the Jiu Jitsu department. He comes in fully prepared, with a full tank of gas and his eyes laser focused and confident…and undoubtedly will look to lean on his boxing once again as he did in his big wins against Moker and prior to that Smoove.

Scruggs, at 27 years old, does not lack confidence in his skills either and won’t be skittish about going at it with Hirst, toe to toe, if that’s what this fight demands. He’s also not shy about being on the ground if the fight calls for it either, as he went there in his last fight and held his own easily against some sub attempts. That won’t be an issue in this fight, so if he does go to the ground, it’s because he feels he can exploit an advantage there and will be of his own doing. Scruggs has a big right hand full of knockout power and, as Ronaldo Souza can attest, that power is able to level even a granite chin. Two fights ago against Psiris Fuhren he was frustrated at an inability to solve Fuhren’s striking defense and took his first loss as a result.

Tonight will be a big test for both of these fighters against another solid striker! This may be a war on the feet and a strategic battle to be won not only by the fighters themselves but by how well the managers can guide their young fighters in this battle!

Donkey, thoughts here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Scruggs via TKO (Strikes)

Scruggs is just a little down on morale. Not a ton, but a tad, and it could play in. If it does, then the advantage here flips over to Hirst. I love Hirst as a young, hungry fighter, but this time around against a fighter 10 years his senior he may be fully tested. Scruggs has proven that his KO power can overcome even a granite chin, and that’s a scary thing. He also proved in his last fight he can go the distance and plan for a decision if that’s what it takes. I think perhaps he edges this one out tonight! Whoever comes out on top, they will have positioned themselves extremely well to make a case for a future top contender elimination match, something Scruggs was already in line for but is taking more time to ready himself first.

Main Card Bout #2: Heavyweight

Haden vs. Lik (II)

ZaDarius Haden (4-0-0) vs. Random Lik (5-1-0)

Our next fight features two Heavyweights…who are just that both physically and in ability! Now…I have a confession to make here Donkey…and I’m embarrassed to admit this, as ultimately the responsibility for everything goes to the top, and that’s me. Haden and Lik already fought each other two months back, with Haden coming out on top. Now, when the secretarial staff were working on the fight submission we put together for this month, they misfiled things and accidentally pulled the card I had given them two months back. So…next thing we know, we’ve got Haden v. Lik II on tap! Now, that’s a mistake I should have caught, and I take full responsibility for that, and as such will have to make up for this as normally this is not a fight I would have made again so soon without having them go through a few other folks first and then, if situation warranted it, have them meet to decide who should be going on to be top contender. I’m very embarrassed by that Donkey.

To be honest, I’m surprised it got accepted. But again, that’s not an excuse either, and says something about the gamer attitude for both managers that they simply took the fight without question. Lik is disadvantaged in this one. He’s a little older in this fight and higher ID, both of which put him at a training disadvantage going into this. The skills clearly have not been able to keep up developmentally, and it’s apparent. That being said, he put on a HELL of a show against Gaunce last month and defeated one heck of a talented fighter…on that fighters own terms on the ground. Highly impressive, and if he can get this fight to the ground tonight, he has a shot!

Last time they met, Haden took advantage of definitive advantages on the feet and finished it in the first round. We will see tonight if he decides to try to do the same, or if either he or Lik moves this fight to the ground!

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Pick: Haden via TKO (Strikes)

I’m thinking you’re a dumb-ass Hare! People say I’m the ass around here, but you just proved where the truth lies! Yep, you screwed the pooch on this and now you, and they, have to live with it. One of your few true mistakes since you’ve been running this thing, so I guess we can let you go on that, but yes, you’re going to have to make up for this somehow potentially by paying close attention to ensure air-tight matchmaking for both going forward, giving each the chance to truly show what they can do against comparable competition, especially for Lik.

*********

Main Card Bout #3: Middleweight

Fuhren vs. Zhao (II)

Psiris Fuhren (4-0-0) vs. Longsun Zhao (3-1-0)

This next fight is about as highly anticipated as you can get! So much so, that in some ways it has started to overshadow the title fight tonight and some of the other big fights on this card! Sucker Punch fans both here in Sydney and around the world have been watching and waiting on this one for over a month now as the drama and hype build-up for this fight has been ongoing!

Originally Fuhren was scheduled to fight Scruggs in a top contender determining fight this month! But, Hirst really wanted Scruggs, and Scruggs was more than happy to get some extra work in and give Hirst what he’s insinuated would be a lesson in humility! In stepping aside to do that, the door was opened for Zhao to step in and get his coveted rematch with Fuhren, one he’s been pining for for for a month now ever since his loss to Fuhren back in July!

Donkey, I don’t think there’s a fan out there who hasn’t been following the drama leading up to this fight! Rumor has it that there’s a little side-bet going on under the table between these two for 500k…or something of that nature…and that it may even be a one-way bet…put up mostly by Zhao to get Fuhren to take him on again so soon! Well, that’s certainly one way to get yourself back into the picture quickly I suppose Donkey! But to make it pay off…you have to win! Something that Zhao says he is more than prepared to do…and at the same time, something that Fuhren is guaranteeing Zhao has zero shot of accomplishing!

When they met last month the fight lasted all of ten seconds Donkey! The bell rang, Zhao was caught by a glancing uppercut that cut him slightly, and distracted by that little surprise, was immediately caught by a second uppercut that caught him square and rocked his world! Zhao of course claims it was a fluke and a lucky shot, and won’t happen again. Fuhren simply implies that the quick finish was a blessing for Zhao and saved him from more prolonged punishment! Ouch, strong words from both!

Donkey, I can’t wait to see this fight, how do you see it going…?

Donkey’s Pick: Fuhren via TKO (Strikes)

It would be difficult to imagine this fight ending as quickly as the last one did. That fight set a record after all…ironically erasing the prior one that Zhao himself held. And according to Fuhren, he wants it to last longer so he can destroy Zhao’s will forever…although I’m sure that statement is more gamesmanship than anything else and he’d be happy with a fast finish. Zhao is a dangerous fighter who has finished fights via knockout, both with kicks and strikes, and has also won via submission. If this fight goes longer this time, and I’m certain it will, he may get the chance to show his varied skillsets! Fuhren can flat out strike, it’s what he does! And he can do it from separation with his boxing or via the clinch. If he wants to avoid Zhao’s kicks and other weapons, the clinch may be where he tries to take this. I don’t really want to make a pick in this one Donkey, I admit, I’ve been sold on the hype and I just want to watch this fight play out! But if I have to pick, I go with the victor for a repeat and, if he can prove me right, he’ll move on to top contender for a title shot next month!

Suzy had calls with both camps this week leading up to the event down here in Sydney!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Longsun, a ton of hype leading up to this fight, one your camp has worked mercilessly to get in place and provide you a shot at redemption this week against Psiris Fuhren. How are you feeling, and any truth to the rumor that there is a bit of money riding on this fight?

Mr. Takahashi, Interpreter for Longsun Zhao: Soon we enter the largest prize fight in Sucker Punch history and Longsun's name couldn't be more appropriate as since his defeat he has done nothing but train and that sun has never set.

Mr. Takahashi continues…: He had become lazy, content, but never again. Every morning he runs swifter than a river, climbs a mountain, and wrestles with bears one armed, at night he's been working down the phonebook to court every female in the Gunderson and Fuhren families simultaneously improving his cardio with each night! He will be unbeatable and continue his ascent in rankings until becoming the champ, the world has plenty of viruses, and on Wednesday Longsun enters the octagon to flatten one out.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Wow, given the back and forth we’ve seen on the fan-site forums, we’re not shocked by the level of confidence and preparation coming in! Now, over to you Mr. Gunderson…I know Fuhren’s camp has been laser focused on this fight as well. Any words for the fans out there or the opposing camp as we head into this big confrontation?

Slick Gunderson: Suzy, this rematch with Longsun is months in the making. Takahashi and I have traded insults but the truth is this fight sells itself. It's the hottest up-and-coming prospect in Sucker Punch vs. a fighter we all know is better than what he showed in his last fight. But unfortunately for Zhao, even on his best day, he doesn't stand a chance against Psiris Fuhren. Takahashi and Lundgren bought themselves a rematch with their $500,000 wager. That was a bad bet, and on Wednesday, we're gonna make them pay for it. And after we take their money, you'll be looking at the undefeated and undisputed No. 1 contender for the 185-pound title. It's time to put some respect on that championship. And Psiris Fuhren is just the man to do it.

Psiris Fuhren: No more words, Suzy. Just pain. Just sorrow. That's it. To all of Longsun's family, friends and Slick's very own mother, I am sorry for I must do on Wednesday.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well Donkey, Hare…I don’t think there’s a lot more that needs to be said leading into this fight! It’s just about time for the action to speak louder than the words, and it all culminates in them meeting and um…working things out!

Co-Main Event

Middleweight Bout

Kribbson Diaz (6-0-0) vs. Rob Tanner (9-3-0)

Our Co-Main Event will see a MONSTER Middleweight matchup, which is saying something given the quality and hype of the fights leading up to this one! Frankly, to get this fight to happen and get takers against Diaz I needed to offer this as a Top Contender determining fight! So…regardless of whatever happens next month, the winner of this fight will determine the #3 ranked fighter in the Middleweight division, moving up to #2 after next month, and a title shot for our October card!

Both come in with a full head of steam and determination in their eyes for this fight tonight! I love it Donkey! That’s what you expect out of potential contenders!

Diaz is a beast, there’s no doubt about that. He’s got dangerous skills all around, with remarkable boxing and wrestling to compliment a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu! His 6-0 record has been developed with a myriad of finishes, including submissions as well as knockouts. He has a knack for finishing fights fast, with his last five all ending in the first round.

Tanner is no slouch himself, and had an 8-2 record coming into Sucker Punch last month. He faced Tyrion Lannister at that point, and lost via submission to a man who was on a mission to make it back to top contender after losing the first fight of his career the prior month. Some could call that a “trap fight” in that he sort of walked into a buzz-saw that was going for broke! Tanner is a former champion at both SMASH and HFC, so he knows how to win and with a solid chin can take a punch, which he may need to do against Diaz! But…he can dish those strikes out as well, and that may be the key for him to win this fight!

Donkey, you have a call here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Diaz via Submission (Kimura)

You’re absolutely right, Hare, that Tanner can take a punch and can dish one out. And while there’s a chance that Diaz’s considerable skills may be able to overcome even that on the feet, it would almost be silly to ignore the area where Diaz truly has the advantage in this fight, and that’s on the ground. I expect he’s too smart to ignore that, and will try to take it there, eventually getting the submission. Tanner won't go without a fight though, and you don’t win championships by just rolling over, so Diaz had better be ready for a battle!

Main Event

Heavyweight Championship Bout

Thoth Chontamenti (Champion: 3-1-0) vs. Rumble Johnson (Top Contender: 4-2-0)

And here we go ladies and gentlemen, our Main Event of the evening!!! And this is for the big one folks! And by big one, I don’t just mean for the Championship, I mean, for the BIG one, the Sucker Punch HEAVYWEIGHT Championship!

Thoth Chontamenti won the Heavyweight Sorter Series tournament and therefore, is the unofficial Heavyweight Champion at this time. However, it’s unofficial because his opponent in the Finals went MIA and the fight never happened, thus leaving the championship technically vacant and the belt sitting on the shelf waiting for an owner! Tonight, Chontamenti will attempt to take what he undoubtedly feels is rightfully his!

Standing in his way, and hoping to prevent the Thoth ascension to the throne, is Rumble Johnson! Johnson has already stated through his manager that it’s all or nothing for him…he’s either ready to take his shot and make the best of it, or move on to the next phase of his career. Donkey, you think this guy is going to be a manager himself? Maybe a business mogel? Kid’s got brains, can probably do anything he puts his mind to!

Johnson came up with a HUGE win over Aron Egomi last month to step back into the top contender slot…really taking it to him quickly and perhaps even catching Egomi off-guard a bit with the veracity with which he came out from the bell! Can he catch Chontamenti off-guard in the same fashion? Is that even an advisable move? I don’t know Donkey, it may be the only shot…but tonight we’ll get our answer that’s for sure!

Thoth, despite his skills on his feet, has shown a love for going to the ground as a big man and working a submission game, something that’s usually a smaller man’s delight, but not for this big boy! I think that’s probably the last place Rumble wants it, so despite the need for aggression, he’s also going to have to watch those takedowns from Chontamenti!

Donkey, an exciting matchup for the Championship eh…?

Donkey’s Pick: Chontamenti via Submission (Armbar)

It is, and I hope it’s a really, really fun fight both for us and the fans! Chontamenti is an extremely skilled fighter, and while Rumble has this very unique ability to find a way, I’m not sure if he will outside a punchers chance tonight. But…wow, he proved he can make the most of that kind of chance last time, didn’t he? Can Rumble do it again? Chontamenti may prove tonight why he is not only the unofficial champion, but potentially the OFFICIAL Champion as well!

Rumble Johnson met with Suzy a couple days ago at a local café leading up to this fight…

Suzy Sucker Punch: We’re hearing rumors that this is a bigger than normal fight for you Rumble…even more so than it being for the title. Any truth to the fact that this could be the end of the run for you if you don’t take the belt this week?

Rumble Johnson: Hey Suzy, I'm really glad you're working tonight instead of Megan Olivi. There's a chance this could be my last fight, and I really wanted the opportunity for one last interview with my favorite reporter. The Sucker Punch Series has been great to me. There have been some incredible highs, like a 20-second knockout of Aron Egomi, and some frustrating lows, like my loss to Bigga Baddaboom, who is so bad that his manager abandoned him and ran away. But that's the fight game, Suzy. Sometimes you get caught on the chin. But right now I have an opportunity to fight for the heavyweight championship of the world, to have Mr. Rumpler strap a belt around my waist and shake my hand for reaching the pinnacle of the sport. And that's an opportunity I plan to take before thousands of adoring fans in Sydney. I cannot wait to be champion.

Suzy Sucker Punch: We wish you the best of luck then, and hopefully we’ll see a lot more of you finding a way rather than having to watch you walk away!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Wow, what a card full of drama, hype, back and forth craziness that’s been going on all month and just a top half of a card that will knock all of our socks off I think there Donkey! Tonight at the Bondi Outdoor Arena we’re going to set this biatch off boys, so let’s all get ready and have a great time!

See you all tonight, and till then…remember…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

The only reason Fuhren can call himself undefeated and no one wants him for commercials is because he is still barely more than an amateur. Well, Machado had his title shot after going 4-0 so win the next one and I'm sure he will consider smashing that zero.

Mr. Takahashi: It's such a shame for Longsun to face two defeats in a row -Mr.Takahasi begins to cry but drys his tears with fresh hundred dollar bills- after a long camp it seems unimaginable for him to lose

-Takahashi turns to someone off camera "Orokamono wa sore no tame ni ochimashita, tēburu ni watashi no kake no shōri o okimasu!"-

We have upheld our end of the bargain, Mr.Gunderson enjoy your half million US dollars, even if your fighter is clearly on steroids, no other possible explanation for the events today, not a single one. Longsun wishes himself to speak

Longsun: I'm sorry to Mrs. Sofia Gunderson, and Mrs. Fuhren, it is clear the constant pounding I gave you both nightly leading up to this has softened my chin and tarnished my record further, as of tonight I'm calling it off and dedicating myself to my future training, do not call or text me anymore at 3am with "U Up?" For I will be busy training.

Slick: "Longsun is a true warrior. He fiercely competed and went down on his sword as swiftly as he did my own mother. Now, he may rest. And Mr. Takahashi and Mr. Lundgren are men of their word. The check cleared. This must be stated for the record, though. Whatever pleasure Mr. Zhao derived from servicing my mother (who is a Ms., it must be known), it was all part of a larger plan. Our strategy all along was to wear Longsun out prior to the fight so Psiris' punches landed harder on that easily-cut chin. Obviously, it worked. By some miracle space-time continuum, Psiris is already back in Vegas and has morning training at the Rubber Guard Emporium. Takahashi, Lundgren, I look forward to the next battle between our figthers. But now, I have something to say to that paper champion of Sucker Punch..."

"Wanderson Machado, you absolutely suck. Now that Longsun has fallen, there is only one thing left for Psiris Fuhren, the real goal: That 185-pound title. It is our destiny. Just name a time and place. Wanderson, it's time you had a real fight."

Thoth Chontamenti

"Rumble Johnson, it was an honor to battle you for the Heavyweight title last night. You're one hell of a competitor and definitely earned my respect. It's not often that I bleed but that's the cost that had to be paid for victory. So be it. Toughness is ubiquitous to success and you're one tough warrior. I hope a new management team decides to work with you to continue your journey because you have more paths to travel. As for me, I'm obviously happy with the victory and the title, but the real test and journey begin for me. I now have the biggest target on my back in Sucker Punch because this is the most brutal division in the organization. There are numerous highly-skilled fighters in this organization in every weight division, and that's awesome, but the most pain and damage suffered occurs with the 'big boys'. Right now, I'm at the top of the mountain but I know there will be many seeking to remove me from this position. We shall see what transpires."
