markyosullivan
Going to keep this thread updating with what's going on in Liam O'Connor's MMA career. Not sure if anyone has done anything like this before but hopefully we'll see a star born. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w23.jpg "Lucky" Liam O'Connor 25 years old 185lbs 1-0 Remember the name because Liam O'Connor is going to be the #1 fighter on The Island when it's first season is finished. Despite only moving to The Island to showcase his talent recently, he's already picked up a win, a win in the Middleweight VIP Fight! Tournament Round 1, which he secured in the 1st round via Submission (Guillotine). He's scheduled to face Luke Marshall (2-0), in the 2nd round of the tournament.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w23.jpg "Lucky" Liam O'Connor 25 years old 185lbs 2-0 Sometimes we see debates about whether or not a fighter just got "lucky" in a fight or if he just is the better fighter. There's talk about whether or not Liam O'Connor (2-0), is the real deal or if he has just been lucky so far in his MMA career. He's already racked up 2 wins in a row and with his last one being in convincing fashion, any fighter to underestimate him will be making a foolish mistake.Luke Marshall (2-1) looked like he could have been the next big thing, being 2-0 in his first two fights, one of which being a KO win in the first round. Many believed he was the favourite going into this fight having displayed great boxing skill in his first fight and KO power by getting the KO win, whereas Liam O'Connor didn't really have his chin tested in his first fight and some might say that it was a bit scrappy, others would say he just got lucky getting the submission win.Despite being the underdog, Liam came out and proved his point, that he can stand with better boxers and come out victorious and was actually close to securing a KO win having rocked Luke Marshall earlier in the fight. After some nice clinchwork, Liam pulled guard and went for a triangle choke which left Luke Marshall tapping out, giving Liam his second W in his MMA career. Will Liam O'Connor continue to rack up the wins on The Island? Or will his luck eventually run out?

markyosullivan
http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w23.jpg "Lucky" Liam O'Connor 25 years old 185lbs 2-0 Liam O'Connor could be getting a title shot in the near future, according to sources close to VIP Fight! owner Justin James. Justin is said to be impressed with the way Liam O'Connor has performed in his first two fights for the organisation and is wanting to reward him for these performances by giving him a chance to put his name in the history books, becoming the first 185lbs champion at VIP Fight! If a deal can be worked out, we could see a fight announcement in the coming days. There's a couple people who are rumoured to fighting him but we don't have confirmation just yet. Jack Reacher, Zarrick Nelson and Kelemi Bureta have all been linked to a title fight with the 25 year old Irishman and there's even talk that Luke Marshall could be eyeing up a rematch after securing a win recently. Whoever he's going against, we're looking forward to it because if his first two fights are anything to go upon, it's going to be a great fight!

He'll be fighting in the Co-Main Event at VIP 7: Chance vs De Silva against Luke Marshall (3-1). Luke Marshall is currently the second highest ranked 185lbs fighter at VIP Fight! following his win over Rasmus Jeyaratnam at VIP 5: Battle for the Belts R3. Luke was keen to get a rematch against Liam as he felt he under performed that night.Liam took time out of his busy schedule to comment on the fight:"I'll be going into that fight confident. I've already beat him once before and I know I can do it again. I want to thank Justin (VIP Fight! owner) for giving me the chance to fight for the title and I hope to put on a good show for the fans and become the first VIP Fight! 185lbs champion. If Luke Marshall thinks he's going to win on Saturday, he's dreaming. I'm more than ready for this fight."

markyosullivan
Liam O'Connor Captures First VIP Fight! Middleweight Title http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w23.jpg http://mmatycoon.com/images/belt/2013070623542113.jpg "Lucky" Liam O'Connor 25 years old 185lbs 3-0 It was an historic event at VIP 7: Chance vs De Silva last night as the first Middleweight and Light Heavyweight champions were crowned. In the Co-Main event, Liam O'Connor fought against Luke Marshall, the rematch Luke Marshall wanted and the title shot Liam O'Connor wanted. These two first fought at VIP 3: Battle for the Belts R2, with Liam O'Connor picking up a submission victory. Both fighters were looking to put their names in the history books, becoming the first VIP Fight! Middleweight champion. Luke Marshall looked a bit more in the zone having just fought 7 days prior to the event but it didn't take long for Liam O'Connor to get into the swing of things.Luke Marshall was finding a bit more success with his punches in this fight than in his previous fight, however Liam O'Connor executed his gameplan well, controlling the fight, getting the clinch and preventing Luke from doing much throughout the fight and just like their previous fight, this one was ended in a similar fashion. In the 5th round Liam got the clinch and pulled guard, as soon as this happened Luke Marshall wanted to stand up straight away to avoid any submissions but unfortunately for him he left his arm open as he was about to stand up for Liam O'Connor to tear it off and that's exactly what Liam did as he locked in an armbar to win the VIP Fight! Middleweight title, becoming their first Middleweight champion.

markyosullivan
He dominated the fight, congrats. Would have been pissed if he got beat in that fight, especially since he already beat him before. Congratulations... still looking for my first title. Thanks You'll get one eventually. It's hard work even trying to get your fighters a title shot and I've always had my fighters flop in title fights, think I'm 2-10 in title fights. VIP 7 Submission of the Night winner and VIP Fight's Middleweight champion, Liam O'Connor has agreed a deal with VIP Fight! owner Justin James which will see him fight 4 more times in the VIP Fight! cage. Justin James was keen to keep a hold of his Middleweight champion and started negotiations immediately following Liam's fight at VIP 7."I love it here! I wanted to extend my stay at VIP Fight! because I had just won the Middleweight title. What's the point in winning a title if you're not going to stay to defend it?"Rumours are beginning to spread about who Liam O'Connor will be fighting in his first title defence. Many believe that Zarrick Nelson (2-0) could be the first to challenge Liam O'Connor following his submission win at VIP 8.
markyosullivan
I lost my 1st ever title fight but I have two more title fights left in my upcoming matches. I'm hoping that I could win these fights. Well, if you win both of them, you'll be making me look bad! 2-1 in title fights is a good record, much better than 2-10 Great story, man. Congrats Thanks Hopefully it'll inspire some other managers to do similar write ups. It's a great way for everyone to keep a track of my fighter, though if he starts losing the interest in him will probably fade. congrats dude. Thanks! markyosullivan
http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/137148887512.jpg VIP 11 Fight Announcement The wait is finally over, Liam O'Connor's next fight has just been announced - he'll be fighting at VIP 11 in the Main Event against Zarrick Nelson (2-0) who many believed was next in line for a shot at the title."It'll be a good fight. He's won both his fights by Submission and I've won all of my fights by Submission. So we're both good on the ground, the question is, is he as good on his feet as he is on the ground?""Everyone's got a gameplan... that is until they get punched in the face. He's been lucky so far that he's avoided being hit in the face and I'm hoping to change that and we'll see if he's got a good chin or not."Looks like Liam O'Connor could be going all out at VIP 11 to get the KO win! Both fighters have a flawless MMA record and one of these fighters will be leaving VIP 11 with a loss on their record, question is... which one? markyosullivan
Liam O'Connor Retains VIP Fight! Middleweight Title http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w23.jpg http://mmatycoon.com/images/belt/2013070623542113.jpg "Lucky" Liam O'Connor 25 years old 185lbs 4-0 It was the fight everyone was looking forward to, Liam O'Connor's first title defence and he was fighting against Zarrick Nelson. We heard from Liam O'Connor before the fight and he told us about how he was going to test Zarrick's chin because he had never been hit by a punch before and he did exactly what he promised. The big question in this fight was that whether or not Zarrick had the skills to get Liam O'Connor to the floor and submit him. He managed to take him down in both the first round and second round but was unable to get a submission. Liam O'Connor on the other hand connected with every single punch/ combo he threw and ended up knocking Zarrick down two times in the second round. Zarrick was also left with a cut due to Liam's strikes. Having been knocked down two times in the second round, we were guessing it was soon going to be finished and Liam O'Connor knocked him out after 3:11 of the 2nd round. Talk us through the fight.LOC: Thanks, I came out with the plan to get in his face, to try and hurt him and it worked. I'm pleased with the way the fight had gone and was confident going into the fight.R: You've showed in your previous fights that you've got great ground skills, picking up 3 wins, now you've showed everyone that you can throw a good punch too!LOC: Yeah, I guess I was annoyed that people were trying to say that I'm a one trick pony, that all I could do was take it to the ground and submit people. I've shown tonight that not only can I submit people but I can also KO people out as well. He had never been hit with a punch before, so nobody knew if he had a good chin or not... I think I've answered that question now.R: You certainly did! *pauses and listens to his ear piece* Liam, we've just got word that you're now ranked #1 p4p in The Island!LOC: It's a great feeling knowing that I'm now officially the best fighter in The Island, but I know I can't afford to get cocky. There's a number of great fighters in this Island and I wouldn't be surprised if they over take me in their next fight. Hopefully when this season finishes I'll be leaving being a title holder and hopefully #1 p4p in The Island.R: So who's will you be fighting next?LOC: I'll fight whoever Justin wants me to. I want to keep this title, so I'll continue to defend it. I'll have to have talks with Justin James to see who I'll be fighting next. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us Liam.LOC: You're welcome. R: The fans are wanting to know who you're fighting next, who's it going to be?LOC: Well if I'm honest, I haven't got a fight sorted yet. I'm staying active in the gym, keeping focused. I love this sport, so I don't really take a long break after my fights before I get back to training, some fighters take a week or 2 weeks off, I'd take a day or 2 days off.R: We've heard you've changed your gym and now you're training at The Pit. How's the training going there? Why change the gym?LOC: I really wanted to up my game, so I thought I'd take my training to the next level, the coaches and equipment at The Pit has allowed me to take my training to the next level. Sometimes in my last gym A Certain Academy, I found that there'd be too many fighters around me which was frustrating as I don't think I got a great level of training while I was there. I'm grateful the guidance I received from the coaches at that gym but I felt it was time to move on and up my game.R: We've got one last question for you Liam - what's your thoughts on the Co-Main Event at Utopia 8: Special Celebrations, the Middleweight title fight between Chris Berzins (4-0) and Fabio Villegas (3-0)LOC: If I'm honest I'm looking forward to the fight. Both of these fighters are really good. I actually know Chris from my time training at A Certain Academy, me and him used to spar quite a bit there and I know that guy's got some serious skills. We used to laugh and joke around that some day it'll be me vs him for the title - the two best 185lbs fighters on The Island and who knows, maybe we will end up fighting each other. I'm backing Chris to win this one.R: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us Liam, all the best for the future!LOC: Thanks dude
markyosullivan
http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/137148887512.jpg VIP 18: Super Saturday We're less than a day away from VIP 18: Super Saturday where Liam O'Connor (4-0) will be putting his title on the line in the Main Event against Brandon Dimarco (3-1). It's been nearly a month since Liam O'Connor's last fight, where he beat Zarrick Nelson by TKO in the 2nd round, will we see an even better performance from Liam tomorrow? Brandon Dimarco is on a 3 fight winning streak with his only loss being his first MMA fight, will he be the first person to beat Liam O'Connor? It'll be interesting to see where this fight takes place. Both fighters have shown in the past that they're great strikers however we've yet to see much of Brandon's ground game. Will Liam O'Connor look to take the fight to the ground? Or will he want to stand and bang, in hope of getting a 2nd straight KO/TKO win.We seen in Brandon's very first MMA fight that he struggled against a good wrestler because he was taken down to the ground in all 3 rounds of that fight. Has his takedown defence improved? Maybe Liam O'Connor will look to take him down?As for Liam O'Connor, we haven't see any weaknesses in any of his fights so far. He's good on his fight and he's also good off his back. It'll be interesting to see who is the better striker - Liam O'Connor or Brandon Dimarco... find out tomorrow night at VIP 18: Super Saturday! http://i.imgur.com/QM2wftv.png
markyosullivan
http://mmatycoon.com/images/1375574834the-pit-logo%20(2).jpg Message From The Pit Owner Good luck to all of The Pit's finest fighting this weekend. Rodriguez and Moyo are fighting each other for the VIP 170 crown, and Liam O'Conner is also defending his middleweight strap on that card today. Tomorrow in the VIP promotion we've got Daniel Miranda, and then Beezlebub Abaddon and Hans Gruber fighting each other in main card action. Roy Nelson and Oscar Steel will see action in undercard bouts. Also tomorrow Martin Fitch main events on the Utopia card in what is likely a #1 contender fight. Good luck gentlemen, pretty well every fight has Island P4P, Title, or top 10 implications. Hopefully the only losses we take are the two fights where it's Pit vs Pit. - Che Nietzsche Big thanks to Che Nietzsche, the owner of The Pit where Liam O'Connor trains out of. Without the guidance of his coaches and the owner at The Pit, Liam O'Connor wouldn't be where he was today. Here's hoping he'll win tonight and increase his flawless MMA record to 5-0.
