Real Life betting thread

Just put a couple of bets on after the Wiman fight finally got added to my bookies :)

6 fold

UFC - Jason MacDonald vs Nate Quarry (To Win Fight) Jason MacDonald -125

UFC - Tim Hague vs Patrick Barry (To Win Fight) Patrick Barry -350

UFC - Mauricio Rua vs Chuck Liddell (To Win Fight) Chuck Liddell -188

UFC - Sam Stout vs Matt Wiman (To Win Fight) Matt Wiman +110

UFC - Rashad Evans vs Lyoto Machida (To Win Fight) Lyoto Machida -188

UFC - Andre Gusmao vs Houston Alexander (To Win Fight) Andre Gusmao -275

$2.50 to win $36.45

Then $20 on Wiman at +110 (bit annoying that it's not +115 like everywhere else but never mind).

I've broken rule #1 in that I bet against someone I've never heard of (Tim Hague) but

a. the UFC want Barry to do well, I'm sure.

b. Hague took 2 rounds to beat Sherman Pendergarst and a decision to beat Warpath, so that's as much info as I need (hopefully).

Betting Fantasy here as well.

Putting about 183$ on Stann, very risky bet, but just a gut feeling bet this time around, I see him stepping up to the challenge, and Krystof backing away. Could be completely wrong.

Patrick Barry @ -350 vs that dude I dont know

Sean Sherk @ -300 vs Edgar

Yoshiyuki Yoshida @ -500 vs Wolff

Trebles, 1 bet * $15.00 to win $15.86

I did make a bit of a woopsy though cos I got Yoshida mixed up in my head with Akiyama. I still think Yoshida will win but I wouldn't have bet him at -500 if I'd got the right guy :P

Lets try to keep this thread with real bets then.. no need to mix fake money with real money. In regards to real money:

Fight Pick | Risk | To Win | Odds | Fight Date | Date Placed

Mauricio Rua over Chuck Liddell | $100.00 | $165.00 | +165 | 2009.04.18 | 2009.04.05

Brian Stann over Kryzstof Soszynski | $50.00 | $65.00 | +130 | 2009.04.18 | 2009.04.05

Xavier Foupa-Pokam over Denis Kang | $50.00 | $150.00 | +300 | 2009.04.18 | 2009.04.05

Jason Macdonald over Nate Quarry | $120.00 | $100.00 | -120 | 2009.04.18 | 2009.04.05

David Loiseau over Ed Herman | $120.00 | $100.00 | -120 | 2009.04.18 | 2009.04.05

Jason Miller over Kala Kolohe Hose | $415.00 | $100.00 | -415 | 2009.04.18 | 2009.03.20

As Long as Macdonald, Loiseau, and Mayhem handle business like they should, everything should be butter, and any of the aforementioned before have a decent or better chance at taking the W. So should be a solid weekend.

Loiseau

Shogun

Staan

Mir

Bisping

Everyone was so disappointed with shogun last time, Dana says if Chuck loses he'll retire. Everyone seems to think Chuck will KO Shogun, I think everyone will be wrong, shogun will look great.

Epic fails all round then. Not amused with the Wiman judging. Wiman looked horrible but he still won.

Agreed.

IMO Wiman clearly won 3rd round..

The second went to Stout for sure..

And in the first, I think that Wiman was way more agressive, and won it too..

Lost $100 on Mac and Wiman, which is the first time I've lost money in a while. Just glad I didn't parlay the two.

Wiman and Stout was really close. I think Stout did land better combinations in a close first round. Wiman really looked bad in the standup. He was constantly crossing his feet, and was only throwing the big right overhand. I was surprised he didn't stick with working for the takedown, instead of trying to play Stouts game. I also think it was really bad judgement by Wiman's corner to tell him he won the first round, and got the better of the standup. It was definetely close, and the corner should have told him in the third, that he might need a finish.

Next event, doesn't look like there is much edge in any of the lines. I'll wait to see if Hughes can come down from -250, but I think he's a much bigger favorite already. Dan Miller might be a live dog, but I don't like it at the current line of +190. I'd really expect more like +300.

Nobody then? :) Personally I think Brown is a pretty great bet at -105. This is the era of the big 145lbers now. Faber dominated when there wasn't really much money in it. Now there is money in the 145lbers you'll get 155ers dropping down and you'll find a Gray Maynard-esque situation in a lot of fights.

I skimmed through the thread and I am pretty much a gambling fiend, but I am not about to put money on MMA. I like poker, ect...things YOU participate in.

BUUUT I would love to get into some fantasy leagues, does anyone here have any recommendations?

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but I find this site to be pretty fun http://www.mmaplayground.com/

There are some decent dogs out there, but nothing that jumps out at me. I thought Al-Turk would come in as a much bigger dog. I think he has a decent shot, but +300 just isn't enough for me.

Betting $10 on Peter Sobotta +240

Betting $10 on Uno +170

Betting $30 on Hathaway -155

If I was able to, I'd be doing a triple on Johnson, Winner and Tibau this weekend. I think it would work out about +180 or something. Unfortunately my bookies isn't covering those fights.

sportsbook.com has got johnson and winner but they are really expensive.

i would assume that u are talkin about a parlay card? sportsbook.com do not offer parlays either. not many do. ive actually not seen any that do but they are out there.

guida is a real gym at 3-1. i mite put 20 on it. since ive not been a sanchez fan for a while and he looked laggy in his last fight at 155.

any news on either of those fighters?

also nate diaz has a pretty good price (-175) probly put a little on that to.

have to wait and c how the red sox and phillies do today b4 i bet any tho.
