I'll start with this...
Fighter of the Year isn't based on the duration you held the to p4p #1 for. It's your body of work for the entire year.
Dinooo I didn't start any attacks. My satire article wasn't much different than Peel's Dean Sutherland Jr post. In all honestly, Donny has a better year than Leo. Donny should win the award because he deserves it more than Leo. Undoubtedly, Leo has all the style points, but Donny's body of work this year out weighs Leo's. He beat LT. The GOAT. The legend. The Man himself. It's not that close.
For the record; both of Donny's draws this year, the commentators had him winning the fight.
But I'll break it down...
Leo held the #1 p4p spot since April all the way through to October until he retired. Donny got the #1 p4p spot for the last two days of the year.
Donny became P4P #1 on 12/16. C'mon
The Olympic Finals this year at heavyweight was contested by two men that Leo beat. (Tyson and Leo are 1-1 this year, Tyson would have gotten his rubber match but lost to Andrei Kersikov in July.)
Donny Donowitz is the LW Olympic Gold Medal Winner.... meanwhile, Leo was sitting in the Bahamas. No gold medal. His claim is "Hey, I'm 1-1 with the guy who won it." I give Donny the advantage in this attribute.
14 is not the double of 9, Leo's record also doesn't include 2 losses and 2 draws.
5 more wins than Leo. Those two draws could arguably make it 7 more wins. It's not just one win, or two wins, or three wins.... five more wins. That's a pretty significant amount in a year. and Leo got KTFO this year. Slumped. Sleep. Night night. I'll take Donny's two decision losses over a KTFO loss to Moyses any day.
Leo fought all the top competition from March1*, Rinky was the #1 p4p fighter, Rocky was the #2 HW, Doolittle was the #1 LHW, McColgan was #3 iirc behind Rinky Spider, Varg was #2 after defeating Rinky, Bowtrie was the #2 HW and finally Rinky again was the #2 HW. Apart from the Varg fight which as a back and forth slobber knocker, Leo dominated his opponents.
Compare it to Donny who fought Yury four times, Donny eeked out wins against Camacho and Daken along with a few others. It is arguable that Donny fought his toughest competition in the last 2 months.
If you base fighter of the year on how many times you fight and how many times you win, you are may as well calling it "who has the better injury hidden award of the year". Other than the amount of wins, Leo had a better year than Donny in nearly every tangible category.
1* view the bottom of this post to compare better competition...
Your injury logic is getting just a weeeeee bit desperate here. Where do you come up with that? Donny fought on average, every 16+ days. What does injury hidden have to do with this award or this discussion?
Leo wasn't just part of the greatest beatdown this game has ever seen. Leo defeated one of the most dominant forces this game has ever seen, not once but twice. He done something that no other fighter in this game can claim and retired as the #1 P4P best fighter.
...and Donny has the chance to retire P4P #1. He could retire now and Leo could never make the claim "only fighter to retire p4p #1". It's irrelevant. He retired months ago and Donny kept fighting. And we all know that Mihail doesn't involve himself with his fighters matchmaking. Donny fought all challengers, didn't pick any opponents, entered the Olympics, and won gold.
As I said, Leo had a hell of a year. HW of the year, yes. Fighter of the Year? No. Donny's body of work outweighs Leo's in 2015. and Mihail faced off against a lions den of managers.
1* here is the competition factor setting in stone...
Donny defeated managers (best manager rank):
Bawon Samedi (#1)
Klatz Matz (#1) *
Blunts AllDay (#3)
Johnny Lightening (#7)
Michael Knight (#1)
Mike Thomas (#27)
Louis Princip (#38)
Clown Prince (#10)
Peel Steel (#7)
Storman Norman (#1)
Jorma Oltsu (#2)
Lance Templeton (#1)
* Klatz is probably the most underrated manager of all time. Klatz is Tycoon HOF / Elite.
Leo defeated Managers (Best manager Rank):
Megajug (I don't even need to put his rank here... it's megajug)
Eddie Roach (#13)
Moyses Mattos (#1)
Janne Finland (#3)
Leo's resume is super impressive, it just comes up short when you compare it side by side with Donny's. It's not personal. Donny won gold in the Olympics. Both had great years, Donny's is just better and deserves Fighter of the Year 2015 award.
