lol clicked on that Tor guy and saw he was 61 years old.

Game must have been fun playing it in the Commodore 64.

At a time when no one really knew shit and you fought for every dollar in your bank account...it was. The hype of these fighters made them what they were/are. Hype makes the real fight game. It's the reason people pay PPV money to watch CM punk get his ass kicked twice. That's one of the things missing from the game now. There's no hype. People used to discuss upcoming fights like they were breaking down real ones.

Its what made the game real.

I still feel that way today, though.

That is also because most of the elite managers nowadays don`t seem very vocal. They don't have to, but that makes a big difference and creates less hype . Dinooo, CK,... they hyped up their fights and bragged about the results afterwards.

People were actually curious to see how certain fighters would match up and they would make predictions and bets.

There were also around five big powerhouse alliances, where now that is limited to maybe two and they do not have bad feelings to eachother really.

You can`t force the current batch of top managers to start doing the same, but it would certainly help give the game a bit more `feeling`.

In reality its just totally normal. It was fun when you got fighter into top, maybe second and third too. Its just nothing special anymore.

Have you seen Karter talking shit at forums? Maybe 4 times in latest 4 years.

Its just fact that you cannot smack talk like fighter to fighter, its not interesting. It needs to be personal.

Karters roleplaying was good because he was targeting real people(FinFighters, other alliances etc.)

Yes, but what I mean is that there is a far lower level of involvement in the game now than before, which is certainly also the case for myself.

When I just started, I was ambitious and wanted to do everything, both on the fighting and business side.

Then after two or so years of very high online activity, the game seemed to slow down or I did. Either way, it felt slow(er) and less interesting.

Basically, multiple of the big alliances broke up, went inactive and plenty of the elite that me and `my generation` looked up to in the game went inactive.

The activity levels and involvement (also from Mike) dropped so much in general that there are no huge rivalries anymore that can make for huge hype and interest. The times of BHP vs Convicted, Dinooo vs Bowser,... those times seem all over.

I feel somewhat nostalgic now. It was fun to read and follow those things.

Meh the first thing we need to do as a community is get rid of this “elite “ concept.

From my experience the so called “elite” bleed and get KTFO just as much as the non elite. They forget to set sliders and cancel flights as much as everyone else.

If the so called “elite” would fight and stop protecting their hype during their projects development years you would see an influx of players.

I seriously laugh at these managers that bitch about a lack of activity when it’s their actions that slowly killed the game.

Fact is the little guys need to win every now and then.

Take a look at the 265+ creation tourney that just started today. Not a single “elite” manager signed up for a fair competition. The elite don’t like fair. This is a fact.

Happy 2019 :)

Don't know if I completely agree, or completely disagree. Do I train my young fighters 6-9 months before I fight them? Yes. Do I have a dozen or 2 other fighters who are active as hell while my young fighters train? Yes.

I do agree that there are no true "Elite" managers around anymore(at least no more than a dozen). The older guys who stuck around just go w/ the flow, and often lose to managers who may not be as knowledgable, but are more involved and care more.

My hype is not "elite" but I am haha. My first 18 yr old jack dawson went straight into fights and it was awesome seeing him k.o a 26 yr old at the young age of 18

I would not say there is no Elite managers, there most certainly are simply the game overall is smaller now and the Elite is proportionally smaller. We also lack that true dominant #1 since David Brent retired in July. The biggest difference is that there proportionally much more mid tier managers, mostly because the game has stayed the same and the general tactics and strategies used are now commonplace.

Without knowing the exact numbers, i would say the top end was always around 1-2% (that was about 40-50 managers before, but now it is about 20). I think the mid tier is about the same in quantity (around 200-250 managers) and there is much less lower end managers as well.

  • 6 months later...

Added all-time roster for managers who were members of Convicted.

IDK if I missed anybody but I think that sums it up. Somebody come up with a better nickname for Kelly, she had a fighter Smokudju Womba that fucked up my entire LHW stable who were a pack of monsters tbh (Moses Diggs, Jose Nabijos, Taj Al Din) plus McWhisky and Kanen who weren't too shabby either. Kanen was a heavy handed bum but McWhiskey's only flaw was dog shit heart. KO Power, Chin, Confidence, high IQ, and dog shit heart.
