Dominick Napolitano

10 - 5

Hi folks, Pueblo Escobart here with another round of MMA action on your source for MMA news, Fight Night Insider. Today, FNI has traveled to The Mental Institute at St. Petersburg to meet up with a newcomer to the Fallen Champions origination, Dominick Napolitano. In between sparring sessions, Dominick took time to sit down with us and tell us what's on his mind.

PE: Hi Dominick, welcome to our show.

DN: Thanks, Pueblo. Great to be here. Wait, did I pronounce that right?

PE: Your gym looks top notch, from what I can see. Want to tell us what a typical week training might look like for you (without giving away too many secrets)? And yes, you did.

DN: Haha, good. You know what it's like, training is training... I had a really good camp last time. I'm hoping the next one is just as good.

PE: You came to Fallen Champions in typical fashion, scoring an exciting five round win over fellow newcomer Mike McGuire. Who's next on your chopping block, after your next signed bout against Gawain Lot?

DN: I'm going for the champ. I called out the champ after my victory over Mike. I spoke to King Arthur about facing the champ but he said Gawain wanted a shot at me.

PE: Obviously, you put a lot of time into your cardio; eleven of your fifteen fights have gone the entire distance. What do you have to say to the critics who would like to see more big finishes?

DN: When you're facing top contenders it's hard sometimes. Sometimes you have got to play it smart and make sure you get the win. So the critics can kiss my ass.

PE: You've only been finished once yourself, and that was in your first match. How have you progressed as a fighter since that first match?

DN: I have come on leaps and bounds. I have trained a lot, sacrificed a lot to be where I am today. I can only see myself getting better and better. I changed management and I would say it's paid off so far. I have won 3 back to back victories and if I can win vs. Gawain, I should be in line for a title shot. What do the critics say to that?!

PE: Of your five defeats, is there anyone on whom you would particularly you would like to get revenge?

DN: I have moved on to bigger and better things but if I had to make a decision it would be against Zeddicus Starburst. His name just pisses me off.

PE: You have been awarded Fight of the Night honors four times at your previous organization, Next Generation Fighters. What is it that makes your fights stand out more than others on the card?

DN: I give my all in every fight. And as you said before they go the distance. A 3 - 5 round back and forth battle can be as - if not more exciting than a 10 second KO.

PE: What measures have you been taking to get yourself prepared for your upcoming match?

DN: He's one dimensional, so it's pretty easy. As long as I keep the fight standing I'd say I can take home the win. But at the same time, fighting such a one dimensional fighter can be a pain in the ass. You know what's coming but sometimes you just can't stop it. Hell, he may even surprise us all and KO me with a head kick. This is MMA after all.

PE: Are you happy at Fallen Champions so far, and how long do you plan on sticking around this organization?

DN: I love it hear. The boss man has catered for my every need so far. I asked him to make sure my locker room was full with fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice before the fight. He did just that. As well as some delicious looking woman to pour me drinks. What more do I need? I plan on sticking around a long time. I will be a future HOFer.

PE: What tips and advice do you have for any upcoming young fighters looking to make a career in MMA?

DN: Train, train and train. The harder you work in the gym, the easier the fight is going to be. Get yourself into a solid gym with the best coaches you can find. If you come into this sport half-assed, you will get your ass handed to you in the cage.

PE: Is there anyone you'd like to thank before we finish up here?

DN: My mom. She's a rock. I'm still a mommy's boy. I always will be. And Jax Rostenkowski. Some thought I was down and out when my last management sacked me. He has helped me turn a corner and with only being 25 I am sure my prime is still to come! And a final thanks to Fallen Champions for offering me a place within the organization.

What a competitor, and what an athlete! Wherever this guy goes, he is sure to continue providing exciting, entertaining fights for fans of mixed martial arts. Dominick, thank you so much for your time, and to all of you out there in the real world, be sure to tune in to Dominick's next fight at Fallen Champions 41: Compton vs Stojkovic at Hard Knocks- Hilo on November 9! This is one fighter whose matches you definitely don't want to miss!

... aka Sonny Black! :) Great job, Jax, good to see my ex-figther back on the track. In general it's good to see people more often put some time in writeups, challenges, tourneys and what not.

Thanks dude. Let's hope I can keep it up :P
