Quick review from our second event. We made a profit!

It was a swift card with 8 of the fights finishing in the first round.

At Featherweight Rambo Tan made quick work of Kevin Siccuan winning with a Triangle Armbar within two minutes in a dominant performance.

In the welterweight division Bill Perkins kicked and kneed his way to a points victory in a controlled performance vs Barra Cuda which brought him the victory but didn't excite the crowd. Next he takes on 18 year old prodigy Evan Rooney in a match he will start as underdog despite being the older man.

Also at Welterweight Shane MacGowan took 47 seconds to knock out Mark Cruz and take the KO of the Night award and in the process didn't let his opponent land a hand on him. Impressive stuff.

The Middleweight fight of the evening was the fastest of the card. Master Ramos subbing Savard via Kimura in 23 seconds to win Sub of the Night and boosting himself to the top of the NJMMA Middleweight rankings.

Three Light Heavyweight contests took place with impressive performances by 'BBC' Rob Kardashian and 'The Tashkent Tank' Djmolidine Abdoujaparov propelling them both into the mix for the 205 belt. Each of them had straightforward first round wins via TKO. 'The Assasin Vasif Tehmezov was another winner at Light Heavy via first round stoppage.

Up at Heavyweight Johan De Jong took a unanimous decision to win the opening fight of the card. Later on Lavrentiy Pudovkin subbed Pavard with an Armbar after just 40 seconds. The win was all the more impressive as he was the only fighter who fought on the first two NJMMA cards, winning both! Celebrating in the changing rooms after the fight the Russian put pen to paper on a contract extension but was then hit by the immediate news that his manager was dropping him. That's right, 2-0 Pudovkin is now a free agent. Hopefully someone will sign him up.

The headline fight saw top NJMMA P4P fighter Russel Bufalino make his debut for the org. The Swede took it to the clinch and dominated his opponent in a first round TKO victory, taking his overall record to 4-0. Bufalino told reporters he hopes to fight Justin Sane next should Sane manage to get past Axel Boozer in a Jiu Jitsu brown belt battle next week.

NJMMA#3 takes place on Wednesday. The first midweek event for the org and the start of the 2x events per week calendar which will see more fighters make their debut, some try to bounce back after a defeat and others try to move into contention for an early title shot.

I think this goes without saying but I just wanted to make sure Justin Sane responded to the report of Bufalino wanting to fight him if he beats Axel Boozer next week. Clearly he would never have a problem fighting the #1 ranked p2p fighter in the org especially where he called out Boozer after his first fight and it would only be fair to accept a challenge that comes his way. With that being said he does not want to look past his current opponent until that fight is over. He choose to call out Boozer not because he thought he would for sure win, but before we start to crown a lightweight champion, he wanted to know for sure who the best ground fighter in the division is currently since they are currently the only two in the division with a brown belt in bjj and similar wrestling.

The first midweek card for NJMMA sees 20 fighters making their debut for the org. None of the top p4p fighters in the org are fighting tonight, so a chance for people to stake their claim and move up the rankings.

I predict fight of the night will be Maltusuri v Morton. A MT vs wrestling clash featuring two very promising fighters making their MMA professional debuts.

Heavyweight division roundup

Fernandinho Da Costa takes on William Jeppeson in the headline match at NJMMA#4 tomorrow in a fight that could have future title implications. Jeppesen is currently has the highest ranked hype and pop in the division, but his P4P ranking doesn't match up to that. So can he back up his talk in the cage? In six fights with Club Street Warriors the Dane Jeppesen went 4-2, but he is on a two fight losing streak and will be looking to end that in his first NJMMA appearance. His opponent from Brazil racked up three quick victories in Quick Fights and is itching to take that momentum into his first fight with an org. Jeppesen starts as favourite but Da Costa has more than a punchers chance and he has already had two stoppages in his short career.

Elsewhere in the division Tom 'The Bandit' Savage and Jackie 'Hands of Iron' Lo will be watching with interest. Each won devastatingly at NJMMA#3 within 15 seconds and both have their eye on competing for a belt in November. Savage has moved up to Super heavyweight for his next fight on 26 October and he could compete for the title in either division or even both.

Taiwanese Muay Thai master Go Sleep fights again on 18 October. After winning first time out at NJMMA#1. A second victory against Elias Taylor will make him hard to ignore in the title picture. But if Taylor pulls off a shock upset then the division becomes much more open.

Other heavyweights such as Mac Loloma, Bruce Brown, Cesar Colnago and Arseni Tereschenko will look to score decisive victories in their next fights to force themselves into the top five rankings next time out.

Current Heavyweight Rankings

1. Go Sleep (4-3-0)

2. Tom Savage (2-0-0)

3. Jackie Lo (1-0-0)

4. William A Jeppesen (4-2-0)

5. Fernandinho Da Costa (3-0-0)

In the 205 Division - Frank 'The Tank' Lloyd' faces Djamolidine 'The Tashkent Tank' Abdoujaparov in the co-headline fight of NJMMA#5 on Wednesday. Only one of these undefeated tanks can be victorious. Combined they have both won all five of their matches in the first round via KO or TKO. One thing is for sure, this one probably isn't going to the judges!

Guilherme Brito fights on the same bill and if he is victorious it seems likely he will face the winning Tank for the right to be the first man to hold the NJMMA 205lbs Championship Belt.

Eighteen-year-old 'BBC' Rob Kardashian will watch the card with interest. 'BBC' was impressive on his NJMMA debut and fights 'Chemical' Phil Meyer on October 26th. A win there would keep him right in contention for a title shot.

It is early days for NJMMA, but these four fighters are currently top of the pile at 205lbs.

NJMMA current Light Heavyweight rankings

1. Guilherme Brito (2-0-0)

2. Djamolidine Abdoujaparov (2-0-0)

3. Frank 'The Tank' Lloyd' (3-0-0)

4. 'BBC' Rob Kardashian (3-1-0)

  • 2 weeks later...

NJMMA has now staged six events and the org is slowly growing. Exciting times are forthcoming as NJMMA will host its inaugural title fights over the next few weeks. These events will feature the top six p4p fighters in the org battling against each other to determine who will be the first to wear the NJMMA Championship belts.

On November 3rd, Frank Lloyd (4-0) will take on Bryan Barnett (3-1) for the NJMMA Light Heavyweight Title

On November 11th, Russel Bufalino (4-0) fights Justin Sane (2-0) for the NJMMA Lightweight Title

On November 12th Tsotomo Miyazaki (6-0) faces Shane MacGowan (3-0) for the NJMMA Welterweight Title

In addition the new Super Heavyweight Division will feature three title elimination fights this weekend.

Carlos Mendez (3-1) v Tom Savage (2-0)

David Smathers (2-1) v Mongolian Muslim (1-0)

Ugly Dirty (1-0) v Takeo Takeshi (1-0)

The two most impressive winners will face off for the title in November.

In other divisions fighters are still vying for position and no clear title matches have emerged. The Heavyweight division is particularly open with everything up for grabs!

Good luck to all fighters in NJMMA 7 and 8.
