  1. Brick Outhouse has this to say: DEREK BURNS! I'm coming for you! October 25th, WFC 28, you're going to learn the meaning of pain! You may have found some success in that bushleague you were in, but now you're messing with real men. I've seen you climbin, I've seen you throwin, but this time, you're running into the Brick. (all the boys say: Out! all the ladies say: Hooouuuse!) It will be my pleasure to show you how we light it up in the WFC! Consider yourself on fire, Burns! /This trash talk brought to you by Valhalla Fight Wear. I don't see any Ice Giants, do you? Valhalla!
  2. what's a bruddah gotta do to get signed on this island? i made my fighter first day and he's rapidly running out of cash even in that little $50 per week gym. so far, the island's been a big bust for me.
  3. PM sent. really pleased to see this level of community help going on.
  4. ...and? that's still no reason not to pursue this change. I've been part of plenty of games that have two tiers of tactical complexity, and some people will happily play with the simple option and others will dive head-first into the complex option. even better, the truly engaged and competitive will find a that added complexity deepens and enriches their game experience. does this mean some people can't compete at the top level and therefore might walk away? sure. but I would argue a) they are a large minority and they weren't that engaged with the game anyway. ETA: there might be other reasons not to do this, this just happens to not be one of them
  5. 58 million, and I haven't received a cent? shenanigans! (always nice to see a helpful community - good job)
  6. if you think varying slider settings by round/condition is complicated, then make it an option that is by default not turned on. that way noobs, like myself, can choose if/when to get into it.
  7. i like the idea of there being more gym equipment available for things like this. +1

    Free Agents

the fact that players have a money laundering system reveals a fundamentally broken financial system that needs to be addressed. in other words, the problem isn't with free agent raiding, it's that laundering is possible/necessary in the first place. as i've said in other places, i think design problems are best addressed with content. so how about a way of increasing your fees with your fighters - as they become successful, you should be able to raise your percentage, with a possible impact on morale (too low or too high = morale hit, because either you're ripping him off or because he's concerned you might not be good enough).
  9. Personally, I'd love to see all-in-one training embedded in an all-in-one homepage. A mock-up is below, with green text notes to point out key features/changes. http://i43.tinypic.com/11v5m35.jpg of course, you could also add possessions and finances at the bottom to make it even more complete, but you get the idea. edit: note, not real training, so please hold any criticims
  10. i gotta be honest, i find clothing and nutrition to be nuisances. there's no strategy involved, no interesting decisions to make, so there's no advantage to be had. they're just a suck on your bank account and time. do they add realism? sure. do they add to the breadth of what you can do as a "business"? of course. are they fun or interesting? no. for this type of game, i'm a big believer that if something isn't working, the right answer is always to add content, add features. but a longer list of supplements isn't it - that's just more of the same. differing diets could be interesting, but merely having minuses to go with the plusses is supplements under another name. sorry if this comes across as negative - i don't have any better ideas, either
  11. I would like to see more play-by-play. It would help me get a feel for how my tactics are working - both for my fighter in general, but also against different styles of opponent. I realise this could quickly become a lot of information, so maybe even just 1 round against 1 random opponent from each time your fighter has a sparring session would be welcome
  12. skill snapshot requires vip... that said, the other greasemonkey scripts there are also helpful, so thanks.

    new island

how can i get my fighter off the island? i started the game and put one there not realising it was "different"
  14. ah, thanks to whoever made this its own thread.... I think.. I wasn't looking for that kind of attention, but I see I wrote a wall of text - the irony of having complained about that in the fight logs! @mmatycoon I appreciate it's a game in development, so I look forward to seeing what's coming down the track
  15. i'm sure it's not in the spirit of the thread (ie whinging about results), but as a new player (less than a week), there are a few frustrations to overcome in order to not quit... of course if anyone knows solutions to these that I'm not aware of, I'd love to hear them - the interface seems to be organised by types of information rather than how it would be used. so it's really difficult to become accustomed to what you need to know and how to use it together. for example, on the fighter's individual page, there are fight sliders, which are used maybe every few weeks when you have a fight, but your training schedule, which you would review maybe every week, is under the gym link. as another example, on the gym page, the sparring schedule isn't shown at all (again, extra link) and your training schedule is at the bottom (which i missed in my first gym because there were so many trainers - yes, I've since moved to a smaller/cheaper gym with that fighter). as another example, on the your fighters page, there's no information about their current energy or maybe their training/fight schedule for the next 72 hours. - the vagaries of "realistic" time changes for each city. I thought it would enrich my experience to try different places in the game, but it's pretty annoying. I wish the walkthrough had said something about putting all your resources in one city for now just to simplify. thankfully, I picked gyms and fight organisations in the right cities for each one! - nothing happens. no don't get me wrong here, I play lots of sports management games online, and I've played through "projects" that take 2-3 real life years to see play out. but there are generally time compressions so that each day or two there's something worth logging in for and checking out. I'm feeling like I could set up training and not come back for a month (or even several months for a project fighter). I understand fighters age four times a year (?), so why can't their training and fight frequency also be compressed? or perhaps, alternately, what am I missing that will enrich my experience and make it worth coming back each day? - the sliders. how confusing is that interface?! so even though, according to the wiki and several guides I've read here, there are sliders that you nominally want set in a range of 80-100, they go 0-100 and are set at a default of 50... and although there are categories on the slider page, the wiki shows the "tree" structure - so why couldn't that be on the slider page? or even, how about the tree at the bottom with the resulting percentages based on your slider settings? there has to be some kind of summaries that could make it easier for newbies to pick up the effects of the sliders - the fighters. i like the idea of hidden attributes, but I don't like the idea of trawling through pages of fight recaps to figure out what the heck they are. what about a scouting function that could give you some summary stats from the wall of text... is there a browser plugin maybe for this? don't get me wrong, I don't want to come across as a whinger - i'm having fun so far and the people I've interacted with have been really good, and the community on the forums seems to be really strong and helpful. I just thought the topic title was perhaps appropriate for dumping my thoughts as a new user. cheers
