In the build up to the first round of the highly anticipated Aspire Swansong Tournament - Two of the most outspoken fighters competing in the tournament were allowed a chance to speak to the gathered press during the official weigh ins.

Tom Bickle: First stepping up to the scales, the former Pulse Fighting Championship Featherweight champion of the world! "DIAMOND" DANNY BRIXTON!

- Danny comes out onto the stage and salutes the gathered crowd and press who applaud him. He steps up to the scales and waits with baited breath for the results. -

Tom Bickle: Danny Brixton weighs in at 145 lbs exactly! .... Next out onto the scales, his opponent. The former 2 time Generation Featherweight champion, and former Ascension Featherweight champion! "MINI BRAVEHEART" DAVIE BROPHY!

- Davie makes his way to the stage, with a mixture of cheers and boos. He steps up to the scales with an air of swagger. -

Tom Bickle: Davie Brophy weighs in at 145lbs exactly also! Now, we were going to have the fighters take some questions, but due to a mutual request from both fighters, we're just gonna let them have at it!

- The host steps off the stage, as both fighters are handed microphones -

Davie: You know, myself and my training team were considering whether we should set a gameplan or not.

Danny: Don't bother mate. It's gonna be a waste of time.

Davie: You're right. My last game plan should mean an easy win for me anyway.

Danny: Shoulda coulda won't. Ain't gonna change how the fight goes down.

Davie: You know, we were looking up some of your fights Danny pal. Seen you got rocked twice your career.

Danny: My management team said to let me take them shots. They wanted to see what I'm made of. Unlike you, other managers need to test their boys instead of being getting that Wolf Juice for their prize projects. You ain't got no Granite Chin, yet you never been rocked against some of those boys you've faced? How the fook do you expect anyone to buy that?

Davie: Mate, you lost to Beezow Doo-Doo Zopitty-Bop-Bop-Bop. By Unanimous Decision too! Shameful performance that really.

Danny: Your boy Dog lost to him twice fucker!

Davie: Majority Decisions both times.

Danny: Same kennel, different dog bro.

Davie: and anyway, Dog is a poor fighter in comparison to me. Dog only got like 1 real skill that you could call "Elite".

Danny: And you're a poor fighter compared to Diamond fookin Danny!

- Suddenly a deranged man shows up on the side of the stage -

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14930589183443.png

Colin "The Hook" McLaughlin

Colin: I'm here to call out Bob! Both of us got the same record, and I think it will be a hell of an interesting fight!

- Both Davie and Danny look at Colin with confusion and disbelief before Danny raises his mic to his lips -

Danny: Bob?

Colin: Bob Brophy I'm talking about Danny, not Bob Fury.

Danny: Ah right....

Davie: Tom can you get your boy out of here? The real fighters are trying to have a conversation here pal.

Colin: Can't you guys just do this on Twitter or something?

Danny: Nah cos there's a permanent written record of it then if I get KO'ed dickhead.

Davie: You should just be happy there ain't not grappling this round. Man would get subbed out quick.

Danny: I got Elite Subs and Def Grappling. Fuck outta here with that shit boi.

Davie: Instead of being tapped out, you'll just have to deal with being treated like a speedbag instead.

Tom Bickle: I'd like to just point out that Danny did just beat Dog....

Davie: Tom for fuck sake. Can you deal with getting Colin out of here if you ain't gonna listen to what we're saying.

Danny: I sure did beat him. Unanimously I might add!

Davie: I feel like I'm dealing with gun nuts here by repeating myself constantly cos fuckers can't understand words. If you wanna look at Dog as an overall fighter, he doesn't compare to me. He is Elite in only one particular style of fighting. This is a KT fight, and I am the elite of the elite when it comes to my striking game, including Elbows and Knees. That's what happens when you train at a Thai Boxing training camp in a regular basis.

Danny: Hold up....Dog really only good at one thing?

Davie: Yeah

Danny: Well shit....How slow is he at learning?

Davie: Pretty slow, but only reason he ain't at my level is he ain't been training properly for the past several months.

Danny: So how come he didn't get access to your managers supply of Wolf Juice then?

Tom: You mean the Tom Treatment according to sources? Wahey bois!

Danny: Yo man I'd take some of that. Hook a guy up!

Davie: You know in movies where two guys are being serious and you got the short guy in the back trying to get them to throw hands? Tom is that guy right now.

Tom: Man, don't you realise there are people trying to justify comparing gun control to the holocaust!

Davie: Don't worry man, they can't justify it. Just like Danny can't justify a logical way for him to beat me in 13 and a half hours. And that ladies and gents, is how you get shit back on track.

Danny: Fuck you mayne. I punch you in the face lots until the end bell and then the judges will say I won.

Davie: The main reason Danny uses his money to help his local community is the same reason Gandhi was viewed as a pacifist. Neither of them could put up a real fight against a proper fighter. You should have built a hospital bruh, could have gotten free healthcare.

Danny: This Game of Thrones LARPer tryna chat shit to me smh.

- Tom is still crippled with laughter at the side of the stage at Danny's "Punch you lots in the face" comment from earlier -

Tom: I don't even know why it's so funny.

Davie: Here pal, it's not my fault they needed to base their character on a devilishly handsome star in the making, but I will take all plaudits for it.

Danny: Just like your boy Renly, mans gonna die TONIGHT!

Davie: Just like Renly, ain't gonna be no white British guy doing it. Gonna be some shadow.

Danny: I'm gonna look like a shadow to you cos your eyes are gonna be swollen shut with that jab jab jab.

Davie: Get real pal, I'm gonna be so pissed up from my victory tomorrow I trip over and hit my head in the dark. The fall will do more damage to me than anything you throw at me.

- Tom is now seen in the audience who collectively give out a breath of tension at that comment -

*Legendary Basketball player Michael Jordan seen reacting*

giphy.gif

Davie: We were smack talking the other day actually.....Oh wait nevermind, that was us talking about how I've never been rocked in my career, unlike ole Danny over here

giphy.gif

- The microphones are discarded as both fighters square up to each other, both men daring the other to swing first as if they were on some street somewhere with people recording for WORLDSTAR. Numerous people pull them apart.....I lie, it's just Dave and Steve the security men cos these 2 fuckers are midgets and Dave and Steve are hulking figures who get paid in protein and gym memberships. Tom just about manages to get onto the stage. -

Tom: Be sure to tune in tomorrow night to see these two warriors collide in the Aspire Swansong Tournament!

"Getting my hands wrapped as I type this - asked them to put in a likkle extra padding so I don't accidentally kill the lad but they said its fine. I would start warming up but honestly I could go in there as cold as his hometown and still come out with the win. Should be a laugh."

My first KT fight, should've probably done some research on the scoring system. Would've went a lot less aggressive...good win!

ASPIRE SWANSONG TOURNAMENT

ROUND 1

http://mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1521323148Swansong%201.png

After a long haul, Aspire is now on it's grand exit working on a tournament as its finale. A group of 8 talented superstars battle each other for the crown.

In the first round, fighters battled a KT match in a cage for three 5 minute rounds. Since Kevin Hart has not accepted his contract Kotetsu Yamamoto will win his first round matchup by default advancing to the grappling round.

As expected, competition was very intense. Trivia: this is the first KT match of each participant. Let's see how they played it out.

Also, all the other matches ended in a decision victory.

Match 1

Capture.png

Built and Sackett are well known in the league because of their championship caliber skills. Built is the reigning OFC featherweight champ (ranked 88 P4P) while Sackett is the reigning Syn lightweight champ (ranked 9 P4P). Mordecai was the favorite given that he has more matches, 20 of which are title matches he won. Built didn't back down and fought according to his plan.

The outstanding fighters went all out in a 3 round thriller. It was a very tightly contested match between these two. Their striking skills and defensive technique are almost on par with each other, which was evident in their performance. What came through here was the clinch maneuvers by Built earning him the much needed points for the decision.

They used a variety of strikes in order to mix up their opponents, both throwing a total of around 100 strikes each. In the end, it was very hard to decide but 1 judge oddly scored the 2nd and 3rd rounds to Sackett as opposed to the other 2 judges. Built won 2 of the 3 judges earning him the split decision win.

Winner: Maui Built via Split Decision

Match 2

2.png

Former Pulse and PFC champion Brixton (ranked 50 among featherweights) took on former Ascension and Generation champ Brophy.

The Brophy and Brixton matchup was getting hyped up as they have a heated exchange before the fight. When they finally had the chance to prove themselves in the cage, it was Brophy who got the win. Both fighters are almost identical in primaries and basically the key was their respective strategies. Their chins are very reliable, both fighters never have been TKO'd in a match, most likely the reason why it ended in a decision win.

Brophy was very aggressive in striking, with about 3 times more strikes thrown and landed compared to Brixton. His aggressive strategy gave him the clear upper hand all throughout the match. Brophy maintained control of the match despite suffering a cut mid game. In the end, he earned the judges' 3 votes 30-27.

Winner: Brophy via Unanimous Decision

Match 3

3.png

For the third match, Bruyne the former NEX and Legacy champion who's been crossing weight classes with no problem faces former DUEL champion Puno. Bruyne has more experience in fighting given that he has 51 matches already compared to Puno who only has 1/3 of his total fights.

Despite that, the two fighters still put on a good show, showcasing tremendous striking skills. Like other remarkable fighters, they hardly get KO'd and they have good defense skills.

In the match, Bruyne turned out to be very aggressive, landing a whole lot of strikes but Puno still got away with the win because of 2 knockdowns, tremendous power right there!

Maybe it was too much aggression for Bruyne? Possibly it was what Puno planned all along.

Winner: Puno via Unanimous Decision

As expected, no one got KO'd and it was a showdown of the better technique.

Next round will be grappling so prepare for some ground maneuvering skills later on.

That's all for the first round of the tourney.

Next up, Brophy will be facing Built while Yamamoto will face Puno. Winner advances to the final round.

Tyaf Daeland "Pacquiao" Puno

- 12-5 MMA Record (RANKED 97 P4P)

- 1-0 KT Record

- 3-3 Tycoon Grappling Record

- Has won 11 of last 12 fights

- Former Duel 145lbs Champion(1 Defence before Title Vacated)

- Son of Legend Fidel Puno. Step Brother of Legend Kajun Puno

VS

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14649627303125.png

Maui Built

- 19-7 MMA Record (RANKED 99 P4P)

- 1-0 KT Record

- 1-0 Tycoon Grappling Record

- Has won 10 of last 11 fights

- Former OFC 135lbs Champion(2 Defences)

- Reigning, Defending OFC Champion(0 Defences)

- 3 brothers with Pro MMA Records. His brother Molokai Built is managed by Bradley Burns, his opponents manager.

In depth

Maui Built stands 5'5" - Pacman Puno stands 6'0".

Both fighters have two of the greatest Ape index's in the Tycoon world for Natural 135/145lbs fighters. (Ape index measures your arm span relative to your height.)

- Built has an incredibly long reach for his 5'5" stature, having a 72 inch reach. He weighs 131lbs with his weight cut.

- Puno, standing 6'0" tall, has a lower Ape index but still holds a reach advantage with a mind blowing 76 inch reach. He weighs exactly 140lbs with his weight cut.

- Puno is 32 years of age - Built is 28 years of age.

These two fighters are current alliance-mates and have trained together during their simultaneous fights in the Aspire Swansong Tournament, leading up to this Final Fight in Aspire History.

ADVANTAGES

Power - Advantage, Puno. Puno holds 6 KO/TKO victories in last 9 wins, Built's last TKO stoppage was more than 5 years ago.

Technical striking - Advantage, Built. Using speed and technique rather then brute power to outstrike and outclass his opponents.

Wrestling/BJJ - Draw. While Puno exhibits amazing takedowns, his TD defence has lacked badly, maybe due to the fact that he doesn't mind fighting off his back. His submissions are game, but inconsistent, as he relies heavily on top control & gruesome ground and pound, usually getting his finishes from there.

Built on the other hand, doesn't have many takedowns in his arsenal but has shown outstanding TD defence and defensive wrestling. His offensive Grappling ability was on full display as he took out Brophy by a lop sided decision score in the Semi Final Aspire Grappling Round, making a lot of people think he Built is in his full prime in every arsenal.

Aylib vs Burns.

The Final is Set!

Awesome tourney, I hope someone follows this format again for a future tournament!

I have been neglecting this thread i think, and should really have put in the effort to do some writeups. But as per usual, the community has done a great job of producing some amazing participation and writeups themselves. Thank you guys for making this thread stay alive. Aspire was created to be a very community related project, and i'm very grateful that you guys have given it the same love in its swansong <3

Great job everyone involved.

This was run pretty well in terms of the format, and Phil did a great job on the write ups he did.

& especially the event posters, holy shit those alone made me excited to fight on the cards.

This should be remembered for a nominee of Tournament of the Year 2018.

Farewell, for now Aspire! Much credit, great history.

Not sure about Tourney of the Year, as i didnt do much when it comes to production value, but it's certainly a format that i liked the idea of and hadn't seen done before.

Congrats on the victory!
