DFC: Mayhem 1 (15 July ‘16 – The Underground, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written By Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)

Dissolution Fighting Championship proudly presents, The first ever edition of DFC: Mayhem; featuring a stacked card of ten three-round fights displaying the best and brightest up and comers of the state of Nevada and the spiritual home of combat sports, Las Vegas.

Fight 1
Marc “Spicy Burrito Camarillo 1-0-0 vs Arrin “The Dungeon Master” Mccreth 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

We have two relative newcomers in the heavyweight division battling it out here, as some heavy hitters collide in an effort to move themselves up the rankings and put themselves in title contention.

Both of these fighters are well versed strikers, with Mccreth possessing incredible strength, even for a man of his large size and deadly knees in the clinch, finishing his opponent in his debut in just over a minute and a half. Camarillo however is a better boxer of the two, but has also demonstrated solid kicking ability, and the ability to submit his opponent, finishing Madden in his debut with an armbar.

As I feel this fight is primarily going to be fought standing up, I have to give the edge to Mccreth, who has excellent Muay Thai ability and has demonstrated that he can finish an opponent early, knocking them out.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Arrin Mccreth, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Stringer “Ringer” Bells 1-1-0 vs “The Swedish Terror” Martin Skvardsson 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

This light heavyweight bout is difficult to predict as a highly touted and debuting Skvardsson takes on Stringer Bells. Bells may have the experience edge, but has only spent one minute total in the octagon across his two fights, knocking out his opponent in 29 seconds and then getting submitted in his next fight in 31.

Skvardsson has a significant reach advantage, and better wrestling and boxing ability, while Bells has sacrificed mastery over one discipline to obtain proficiency over a few.

Although “The Swedish Terror” has not had his chin or knockout ability tested yet, I feel as though his physical stature and strong boxing game will take this fight for him, though this will be a big test for the large swede.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Martin Skvardsson, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Yahir Kepplinger 1-0-1 v Illidian Newsto 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

This fight at 145lbs promises to be one that is fiercely contested on the ground, with a good amateur wrestler going head to head with a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in a battle that is most likely going to end with someone tapping out.

I would give the amateur wrestling edge to Kepplinger, however Newsto himself is very accomplished and also far the better of the two in BJJ.

I don’t expect this to go very long and foresee Newsto, the far better rounded of the two getting the better of Kepplinger and finishing him early via submission.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Illidian Newsto, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 4
Nairo Velasquez Quintana 2-0-0 v Paul Oddwekk 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Both the fighters here will be wanting to generate some kind of momentum in the 155lbs division as neither fighter has really shone, with Quintana winning two by decision and Oddwekk losing his debut.

I think Quintana will try and fight smart against Oddwekk, respecting his superiority in fighting on the ground and wanting to win the rounds rather than charge in gung-ho and be lured into a trap and smothered on the ground, while Oddwekk will try and charge in aggressively, realising his best chance is to take his opponent down and submit him.

Both fighters will want to take this fight with both hands in order to establish themselves here in DFC, but I feel Quintana, having demonstrated that he knows how to win against people with superior ground game to him will take this by decision.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Nairo Velasquez Quintana, Round 3 (SUB)

Fight 5
Ryan Odd 1-0-0 v Ryan Mcstuffin 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Two skilled featherweights will collide here as both men look to add to their tally of wins, when Ryan Odd takes on Dave Mcstuffin, boxing vs wrestling, power vs prowess.

Both men weigh in as almost the same weight, with Odd giving away a reach advantage to his opponent Mcstuffin, which may hinder his ability to hit any significant strikes, unless he times them well. Mcstuffin will want to be cautious here, look to time his takedowns well and not gas himself in the process, so he will be able to get out of the way of those shots flying his way.

The fight looks pretty even on paper, but this fight may be the first one I have seen that gets decided behind the scenes, as Mcstuffin’s camp has been thrown into minor turmoil as he has cut ties with his manager. I think Odd will have prepared with a clearer head and will win this fight based off of that.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ryan Odd, Round 3 (SD/UD)

Fight 6
Justin Lichfield 1-0-0 v Michael Page 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Another featherweight fight here tonight as what could possibly be the standout division here developing at DFC showcases two of its most promising up and comers in Lichfield and Page.

Page may have lost his debut but managed to go the distance against a fighter that had him outmatched skillset wise, and if he learns anything from that performance, it will be that when you know you are losing you have to become more aggressive and take your chances well.

Lichfield is a tremendous wrestler and will look to take Page down early in his DFC debut here. I feel that he just outmatches his opponent and will look to make him tap early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Justin Lichfield, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 7
“Shotgun” Shikoba Ash 0-0-0 v Roberto Martinez 0-0-1: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Two fighters here will be looking to make a splash in their DFC debut, as this fight at welterweight is most likely to bear entirely contested standing up.

Martinez is a fantastic boxer, but has demonstrated absolutely nothing in his debut draw to suggest he is well rounded, looking out of sorts on the ground at attempting Muay Thai style clinch techniques. Ash is better-rounded, but while he has a decent boxing and Muay Thai technique, he does not excel at either unlike his opponent.

I feel this fight could go either way, and while Martinez could stop the debuting American, Ash has more options to win, possessing a better, while still average ground game.

I will give the advantage to Ash, who has a significant reach advantage to use, although I would not be surprised if it ended up going another way.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Shikoba Ash, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 8
Caio “The Natural” Bottura 1-0-0 v Ivan “The Terrible” Bane 1-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

I feel this fight is personally the most intriguing as to who will come out victorious, as a veritable “wunderkind” of BJJ, Caio “The Natural” Bottura takes on a highly skilled Muay Thai practitioner Ivan Bane.

Bane has not been inspiring as of late, showing an ineffective striking game despite his training in MT, having to finish his first opponent by submission and losing his second via unanimous decision.

I feel as though “The Natrual” and his inspiring level of BJJ mastery at a young age may take this one, though if he does lose this fight he will have to take it as a learning experience as he enters the most important developmental years of his career.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Caio Bottura, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 9
Kaos “SS” Coming 4-0-0 v Dada Buckeye 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 145lbs

Kaos Coming comes into this fight on a tsunami of momentum, winning his first four fights via submission, three of which were in the first round, demonstrating tremendous wrestling and brazillian jiu-jitsu prowess in the process.

His opponent has a significant reach and striking advantage, and while he may have been knocked out early in his last fight, he comes up against a man with very little in the way of experience in that area and will be looking to use that to his advantage.

I feel however that Coming is just simply the superior fighter of the two, and while may have a bit of difficulty getting into reach with the takedown, will still submit Buckeye early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Kaos Coming, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 10
Matty The Viper “Mvp” Pritchard 0-0-0 v Rose Stuffin 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Pritchard will want to use his reach advantage here in this featherweight bout to keep the superior boxer in Stuffin away.

We have yet to see Pritchard fight, and he will be wanting to make a big splash in his debut here against Stuffin, who will want to make amends for his first appearance loss. I see this fight going one of two ways, either Stuffin will use his experience and striking ability to force an opening and go in for the kill, or Pritchard will lure him into a fight on the ground and submit him, but is really is up in the air.

I give the immediate advantage to Stuffin, but seeing as how he has also lost his manager, he may have struggled in his pre-fight camp, so I think due to the psychological edge and the superior jiu-jitsu skills we shouldn’t count Pritchard out.

As it stands however, I think Stuffin will take this via knockout in the first round.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Rose Stuffin Round 1 (TKO/KO)

A lot of interesting developments are likely to come out of this card as a lot of young hungry fighters will be looking to make a name for themselves, so be sure to check it out LIVE on the 15th of July from The Underground in Las Vegas, Nevada.

DFC: Mayhem 1.5 (15 July ‘16 – Bob’s Bar, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)

DFC Mayhem 1.5 takes place on the same night as the inaugural edition of Mayhem as DFC takes over the MMA scene in Las Vegas holding two events on the same night in two separate venues, the second of which is from Bob’s Bar; showcasing some of the best talent in the state.

Fight 1
Erik Larson 1-0-0 vs Gurrr “Grraaa” Yahh 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Larson will want to build on his debut victory by taking Yahh out early here, but will have to be weary of the significant reach and striking advantage of his opponent.

While Yahh does have a significantly better chance if this fight is kept upright, I think Larsons BJJ skills and wrestling ability are way too good for Yahh to handle.

I predict Larson submits Yahh in the first round, sending Yahh back to the drawing board.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Erik Larson, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 2
Jack McVitie Bells 1-0-0 vs Brandon “The Crow” Stark 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Two relative newcomers to the sport face off here in a middleweight bout. Stark has a great BJJ and wrestling game and should look to use this to full effect against McVitie, who has a superior stand-up game and great wrestling.

I think that if Jack can catch Stark early he has a great chance of winning this fight, but Stark has shown to be calm, collected and has submitted his first two opponents inside the first round.

However, I think the striking ability of McVitie may be just too much for him, and I think he is going to catch him early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jack McVitie, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Boris Klein 0-0-0 v James Myres 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

A much anticipated heavyweight bout here, as the highly touted Klein makes his professional debut against heavy hitter Myres.

We don’t really know what to expect from Klein in terms of knockout ability, but suffice to say, his opponent has it in droves. If this is to be fought standing up, Klein will have had to have brought his A-game, otherwise it’ll be a short painfull reminder of how tough this sport can be.

I predict a Myres KO in the first round.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) James Myres, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Le Monstre 1-0-0 v Happy “Angry Hockey Player” Gilmore 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

Two talented heavyweight strikers will duke it out here in a battle where someone will have to be scraped off of the canvas. Monstre has emphatic boxing ability and should be able to overcome the slight reach advantage of Gilmore with his movement. Gilmore is a superior wrestler and has good Muay Thai ability, though he finished his first opponent by submission.

As I feel this fight will be primarily fought standing up, I think the boxing ability of Monstre might just edge it.

KO in round one for me.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Le Monstre, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 5
Erik Striker 1-1-0 v Rauga “Lightning” Pascal 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

The third of five middleweight fights taking place here tonight as this division stakes its claim as the hottest run in DFC right now. Striker takes on Pascal, here as two skilled boxers take on each other in what is set to be a stand-up brawl.

This prediction is really simple, I believe Striker is the more accomplished boxer, and is going to take this in the first or second round. If pascal can somehow take this, he will have shown to be very adaptable and have a lot of heart, but the smart money is on his opponent.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Eric Striker, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 6
Toby “The Arrogant Ambassador” Coleman 2-1-0 v Johnny Burma 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

I predict this light-heavyweight bout to have fast finish, as Coleman has spent a total of 16 seconds in the two fights he has won, but has found it difficult to handle those with a superior ground game such as that which Burma possesses. Burma better have a good chin or he will be found out early in his debut, and will need to take Coleman down early, and finish him to stand a chance.

However, I think Coleman might just have the speed to finish Burma early

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Toby Coleman, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 7
Core Parkin 1-0-0 v Jon Smultz 1-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

The fight records going into this bout for Smultz will be unrepresentative as to his skill as he has demonstrated good wrestling and BJJ ability in his previous fights, but has been exposed for having a weak chin.

If Parkin can take advantage of this and try and finish him early, I think he might take it, but if he makes one slip he could find himself in a vulnerable position, and then tapping out.

I give this to Smultz by submission.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jon Smultz, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 8
Mickey “Mouse” Mouse 1-0-0 v Jenson “Super Man” Jones 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Mouse has far more momentum heading into this fight than his opponent, finishing his first three opponents by submission. His opponent, lasted to the third round but was submitted by the fighter from Macedonia “Madai” who has a similar style to Mouse.

Let’s hope he learned something from this fight otherwise he’ll find himself on the end of another painful submission.

I predict Mouse takes this by submission.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Mickey Mouse, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 9
Kyle Dunc 1-2-0 v Derrick “The Dude” James 0-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 185lbs

These two fighters be looking to generate some kind of momentum coming into this bout as they are both coming off the back off two losses.

While Dunc is the superior wrestler, I think that is all he really excels in, whereas James has a very good Muay Thai skillset that he will be looking to take full advantage of here.
I don’t think Dunc’s advantage on the ground is enough or too vastly superior to James to make a difference, so I think James may take this, whether by submission or knockout it’s hard to say, but I think he could take it in the later rounds/

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Derrick James, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 10
Alex “Big Daddy” Smith 0-1-0 v Gabriel “Archangel” Angelo 2-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 265lbs

The final bout on this card is a heavyweight clash between Gabriel Angelo and Alex Smith. Both fighters have appeared to have gaping holes in their game plans in previous fights, but in the case of Angelo, he has been able to find a way to beat his opponents despite this, showing great tact and adaptability.

Smith is the superior striker and BJJ artist while “Archangel” has a superior wrestling and Muay Thai game but not by much.

Unless Angelo can figure out another way out of a fight against an opponent with a better range of skills, I can see him being put away early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Alex Smith, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Overall this card is filled top to bottom with many intriguing bouts in the second DFC Mayhem event of the evening as the fledgling promotion looks to make its presence felt here in Las Vegas, Nevada. You are not going to want to miss this one folks.

Hinrik Leifsson: Mark your calandars people, because in one week, I use Artur The Axe as a fucking stepladder to greatness. I will move past him and will eventually become the DFC heavyweight champion at HIS expense, and I wanted him to know it isn't personal, it's just because I'm so much better than him.

Hari "The Kraken" Kunwar: I want the winner of Joe Reealopubo vs Shane Myres, if you don't challenge the best, you don't become better and I have a lot of respect for the abilities of both men. I promise to be humble in my inevitable victory.

Corey Parkin: I want Erik Striker. I think this would be a good fight for us in this stage of our careers and after his slow start for the orginisation I'll give him a chance to leapfrog me in the rankings, IF he can beat me-that is...which is less than likely.

I would like to extend congratulations to the Mayhem 1 winners and award recipients:

Main event winner - Arrin Mccreth & manager Arvin Igram
Co-main event winner - Martin Skvardsonn & manager Dustin Morello
Illidian Newsto & manager Logan McDonald
Nairo Velasquez Quintana & manager Dall Que
Dave Mcstuffin & (free agent) formerly managed by Grizzmore Bremner
Justin Lichfield & manager Logan McDonald
Shikoba Ash & manager Gabe T.S. Gardner
Caio Bottura & manager Rodrigo Rojas
Dada Buckeye & manager Vlad Fresh
Matty the Viper Pritchard & manager Jake Bremner

Mayhem 1 was part of the sparkle that is still left of the old Bad Boy Promotions. The above fighters thoroughly controlled every aspect of their fight before getting their hands raised in the air. The only exception was Matty the Viper Pritchard who was getting worked over by Rose Stuffin. Stuffin controlled the stand up and clinchwork while shutting Pritchard down. Everything Pritchard tried was getting countered or avoided by Stuffin until Pritchard transitioned a nice takedown from Stuffin into a triangle followed by an armbar causing Stuffin to tap out. For this quick comeback sending fans home confused, Pritchard and Stuffin get the fight of the night award.

Skvardsonn started his fight against Bells with two quick combinations cutting Bells wide open. Bells tried to keep some distance by using his feet to kick but Skvardsonn dodged every kick and countered with a big right hook that knocked bells OUT. Skvardsonn followed his fight up by asking for a title shot. With only one win under his belt, Skvardsonn might still have to prove himself before he gets a chance at the 205lb championship. However, due to his quick KO and thorough domination against another stand up fighter, Skvardsonn was awarded KO of the night.

Illidian Newsto vs. Yahir Kepplinger was a fight I was excited to see. DFC Marketing Director Gabe Gardner predicted Newsto to sub in the first round and I questioned him as Kepplinger is the more skilled fighter on the ground and stand up. Gabe was right as Newsto quickly took Kepplinger to the ground and finished him with a Kimura in just 17 seconds! I think Kepplinger was still feeling the handshake from the start of the fight as he was tapping out. I think 17 seconds has to be the fastest I have ever seen someone tap out in MMA. Newsto went home without a sweat and with an extra $1k in his pocket for the sub of the night award.

We pulled it off! An ambitious double header event created by the former administration and we made it succeed. All 20 fights went off without a hitch and I want to send a special thank you to all those who accepted last minute fights and a special thanks to Gabe who worked overtime getting 2 posters and 2 write ups done. I can't say how much I appreciate Gabe's work here at DFC and if you guys appreciate it too, he accepts tips (he might even make extra mentions about your fighter if you tip well). Mayhem 1.5 was an exceptionally exciting event as 7/10 fights were won by the underdog. Mayhem 1.5 Winners are as follows -

Main event - Erik Larson managed by Alfie Jackson
Co-Main event - Brandon Stark managed by Jon Coldhands (underdog win)
Boris Klein managed by Zuzana Holm (underdog win)
Le Monstre managed by Wally Banter
Rauga Pascal managed by Pratik Verma (underdog win)
Johnny Burma managed by Joe Ma (underdog win)
Corey Parkin managed by Gabe T.S. Gardner (underdog win)
Jenson Jones managed by Pratik Verma (underdog win)
Kyle Dunc managed by Mikey Smith (underdog win)
Alex Smith managed by Will Menzies

Rauga Pascall and Eric Striker were two very evenly matched boxers and they put on a boxing clinic for the fans. Striker started off early by causing Pascall's nose to bleed with a quick jab to the center of Pascall's face immediately after touching gloves. Following that they continued to trade back to back blows like a good old fashioned Rocky movie. Striker only missed one punch throughout the fight and Pascall threw miss after miss going for a home run with every swing. Well, Pascall found his home run with an uppercut that will haunt Striker's dreams tonight (he's probably still asleep from it). Pascall and Striker earned fight of the night for a great performance in front of the fans.

I love a good ground N pound. I especially love a good ground N pound when the better ground fighter executes the takedown, gets reversed on, and then gets pummeled into the ground by the underdog. That is exactly what Kyle Dunc did to Mikey Smith and let that be a lesson to anyone wanting to face Kyle Dunc in the future. Dunc is not afraid to lay waste and he did it from guard! For Dunc's bombs dropped on James' face he earned KO of the night.

Sub of the night was a little harder to choose on this event as both submission finished were executed well. Jack McVite and Brandon Stark both entered the cage as undefeated fighters, but Brandon was the underdog going in. Jack is a standup boxer with a power hook and Brandon is a straight up brawler who breaks bones on the mat. Jack cut Brandon early on and it looked like it was going to be all over for Brandon as he couldn't get close enough to Jack to even try a clinch or takendown. But, Brandon powered his way through the wall of punches and found a nice trip takedown that brought Jack into Brandon's realm; the mat. From there, Brandon controlled the fight and got Jack to tapout just before Brandon's armbar would've snapped Jack's arm. For his resilience and effort, Brandon earned the sub of the night award.

Please stay tuned for the preview of our DFC Las Vegas' next event, DFC Fight Night 2 on July 20th, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

From Jay Lawrence to Corey Parkin -

I can't believe you want to fight Erik Striker. He is older, more experienced and has more total skills than you. You will clearly be the underdog, but since you requested it I booked it! On 8-6-16 at DFC Sin City 3, you two will face off in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That is, as long as Eric Striker accepts.

"Hyena" Jack Mason: Just been told Alf Rohde turned down an oppurtunity to face me, I guess my reputation speaks for itself. I fought a HEAVYWEIGHT in my first fight, why I hear you ask? why put yourself in unnecessary danger for the sake of bragging rights? Because I have balls the size of most mens heads! I will fight anyone one in the world. to prove it, I am calling an open challenge, if anyone thinks they can beat me, step up- if not, then I want Mr. Lawrence to please pick an opponent with some fucking fight in him this time that he won't shy away from taking on a legitimate tough guy...

Hugh Jaskok to Benjamin Tay

Ben it's going to be an honor going against you for the 155 lbs. strap, but make no mistake about once that door closes on the cage I'm going to snap your arm like a twig. I think it's cute that you used to be a male stripper and I hope for your sake that you Channing Tatum's number on speed dial, because you're going to need a back up plan when I humiliate you in the cage. Unlike you I didn't take up this sport on a fraternity dare no I chose to hone my jiu jitsu and wrestling skills from a young age. Every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears have all come to a culmination up to this point. I'm willing to lay it all on the line to become the first ever DFC -Las Vegas 155 champion. So let's make it easy on you Ben it's either snap or tap that's going to be your only two options when we main event this stacked card Mr. Lawrence put together.

DFC: Fight Night 2 (20 July 2016 – The Underground, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
Sponsored by “Bad Company” fight wear, available in global retailers.

DFC: Fight Night 2 looks set to continue proving why DFC are the hottest organisation in all of Las Vegas here tonight, with a stacked card from top to bottom with many fighters staking their claim to be put in line for a shot at their DFC title.

Fight 1
Voodoo Pizzaman 1-0-0 vs Dave “Megadeath” Mustaine 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Lightning fast speed vs Brutal power will be the story of this bout as two skilled strikers look set to make a name for themselves in what promises to be an all out brawl.

This fight looks to have a little bad blood going on as Pizzaman has been active on social media, tweeting to Mustaine “Next grave being made for this man #nextvictim”
Mustaine will want to keep a cool head in order to prevail here.

Mustaine has exceptional Muay Thai ability and great speed, so he will want to get inside, using knees and elbows in the clinch and get out of range quickly of the heavy puncher and superior boxer in Pizzaman.

This fight will be very character defining, if Pizzaman wins then there could be something to be said for his ability to time shots well against an agile opponent, and his mind games tactics. If Mustaine wins, then he could put himself on the map as being one of the most versatile strikers on the roster, being able to handle a variety of opponents.

I think Mustaine is just a level above Pizzaman, and will take this by knockout in the first or second round.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Dave Mustaine, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Raj Taj 1-0-0 vs Daren “The Green” Greeley 2-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Experience will be the key to victory here for Greeley, boasting three more fights under his belt than his opponent, most of which went the entire distance and will have tested his cardio.

Taj is the superior wrestler and has decent Muay Thai ability, and will want to keep this fight up close to his opponent, whether in the clinch or on the ground.

Greeley is an experienced Boxer, and will want to use his vastly superior stand-up ability to blitz Taj out early, so he avoids becoming tired and more susceptible to getting taken down.

I think this fight will test both men’s resolve, but think Greeley may take this one.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Daren Greeley, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Marc Voss 2-0-0 v Nelson Mandela 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Two of the most talented in their weight class will face off here, as Voss takes on Mandela, in a bid to establish themselves as title contenders.

The key for Mandela here will be speed, he needs to slow things down to his tempo and needs to look to take the fight on the ground and keep it there for as long as he can, not having been able to finish anyone in the first round yet, he needs to take his time.

Speed will again be the first thing on Voss’s mind as the talented striker will look to take Mandela out of there early on, recording two knockout wins inside the first already in his career.

This fight could go either way, and it is entirely possible that one of the fighters bottle their nerves and almost give the fight away, but I predict Voss will have the clearer mind-set and win by knockout.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Marc Voss, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Xiang Wang 0-1-0 v Bobby “Bad Ass” Gunner 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

Wang will be wanting to generate momentum here and pick himself off of the floor as the jack of all trades from China needs a victory here tonight.

Gunner, being the superior striker and wrestler, is my favourite to win here, as I think he has far too much in the locker for his opponent here, a short prediction because it really is that simple.

I predict Wang will be seeing stars before five minutes is up.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Bobby Gunner, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 5
John “DT” Petrucci 1-0-0 v Rupert “Lights Out” Jones 3-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

Personally, this is the fight this reviewer is most interested in seeing take place, as the highly touted “DT” takes on the Wunderkind that is Rupert “Lights Out” Jones as the 18 year old is riding a three fight win streak.

Jones’ ability on the ground is what has won him these fights as he has demonstrated great submission techniques and wrestling ability, for someone of his age.

Petrucci on the other hand, has trained extensively in wrestling, and defending against takedowns, where he has weak spots is when he is on the ground, vulnerable to submissions. “DT” is a boxer of strong ability, and will want to follow up his debut with a knockout victory, in order to establish himself as a danger here, and I think he has what it takes.

I predict Petrucci KO’s Jones in the second or third round, or he will have to go back to the drawing board.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) John Petrucci, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 6
Tzu “Pang-Tow” Chu 0-1-0 v Johnny Yocum 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 135lbs

The 16 year old Chu will want to make every fight he takes a learning experience at this point, as I feel he has been thrown very much in the deep end making his debut so early. His last fight demonstrated a lot of flaws in his game which he will need to have fixed to avoid a consecutive defeat against Yocum.

I feel Yocum may be the better of the two in every aspect, but he cannot let that interfere with his game plan, and make him think he is invulnerable, as this is a real fight, and anyone can get caught out. If he keeps a cool head, I don’t see Chu troubling him and foresee this as an easy victory pending a miracle for Chu.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Johnny Yocum, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 7
Raylan Steele 0-0-0 v Ani “Vicious” Mal 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Two fighters are set to debut here at Fight Night two which puts me in the awkward position of making a guess totally based off of what we have heard and seen from their training camps and what their managers have said of them in interviews.

From what I can tell both are accomplished strikers for their age, with Mal favouring the clinch based striking form of Muay Thai, being proficient in this discipline, with Steele having trained extensively in boxing. Both managers have a long history of managing fighters, and will have seen something in both these teenage prospects, but I think that Steele, giving his larger size and stature, will be able to use the reach advantage, keep Mal at bay until he sets him up for the knockout blow.

Again as both fighters are debuting this could go either way, but I think Steele takes this one inside the distance.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Raylan Steele, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 8
“Poo Bear” Ali Gator 1-0-0 v Trevor “Big Guns” McGee 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Another stand-up brawl is scheduled for tonight as two relative newcomers in Gator and McGee will look to finish this one inside the distance, get the highlight reel finish and make a name for themselves in the crowded 145lbs division.

While both have good stand-up ability, the wild card here will be the purple-belt ranked BJJ ability of McGee, who if push comes to shove will look for the submission victory against the teenager Gator, as he won his first bout by submission. He will have to be wary of getting close though into a striking game with Gator who will look to use ferocious knees and elbows to make up the difference here against McGee.

While I think McGee is better skilled overall, I am predicting what I would call my first upset victory prediction of the card, and will say that Gator will have McGee and his flaws well scouted going in, winning late on either by decision or KO

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ali Gator, Round 3 (TKO/KO)

Fight 9
Jaddie Defensor Iii 0-0-0 v Terry “Rampage” Crews 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 155lbs

Two debutants here as two skilled boxers and BJJ fighters are set to face off here.

Again, it is difficult to predict a fight with two unknown entities, and this will rely on what we have heard. Both men are ranked Purple-Belt in BJJ which means that in a submission victory, the slight edge would be given to Iii who can grab hold of Crews’ longer limbs and make it easier for himself.

However Crews has a better boxing skillset and I think that might be the biggest difference maker here tonight.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Terry Crews, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 10
Anthony “Sexer” Clark 2-2-0 v Mark Gregory 1-0-1: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Clark will want to build upon his upset decision victory over Asteroidbelt that shocked this reviewer, who stated that if Clark would be able to pull this out then he could have a bright future. If he is to have that future he will need to get past Mark Gregory, who is coming off of a Majority Draw against Everett Small, but is still unbeaten.

The boxing ability of Gregory makes him the favourite in a stand-up brawl but he gives up significant reach to his opponent, who will to shoot in for the takedown and keep the fight on the ground.

Neither men have blown me away with breath-taking ability, but I think Clark has fought intelligently enough in the past to take this one by decision.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Anthony Clark, Round 3 (SD/UD)

A great card will have big ramifications on the landscape of DFC and will determine who will be moving up the rankings and into title contention in the near future. Tune in to see the biggest rising organisation in all of Nevada.

DFC: Mayhem 2 (22 July 2016 – Hayashi's Lounge, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
Sponsored by “Bad Company” fight wear.

DFC Mayhem 2 comes to you for the first time from Hayashi’s lounge in Las Vegas, NV. Ten three round contests have been scheduled for a night of skills being showcased and brutal athleticism for the second ever Mayhem event held by DFC.

Fight 1
Gary “Chuckles” Wilmot 1-1-0 vs Anthony “Showtime” Pettis 4-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Two accomplished Muay Thai practitioners are set to throw down in this bout as Gary Wilmot takes on Anthony Pettis. Having seen their previous fights, I fear that Wilmot may find himself significantly outmatched, by the taller, highly skilled “Showtime”, a fighter who has demonstrated severe knockout ability winning three out of four of his victories via big KO’s in the first round.

To take this one, Wilmot is going to have to fight an incredibly smart fight, and perhaps pull a punch perfect performance. Where “Chuckles” does have the advantage is in his boxing ability and BJJ skills, but might find it difficult to take the bigger Pettis off his feet, especially due to his superior wrestling ability. If he can do this though, although it would be a gamble I believe he needs to put his Jiu Jitsu skills to work and look to finish him on the ground.

Otherwise it is very hard to imagine anything other than a Pettis Knockout early on.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Anthony Pettis, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Chip “The Guru” Ryan 2-1-0 vs Luke “Darling” Bresnan 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

This light heavyweight bout will pit some of the most well rounded fighters in the division against each other as Chip “The Guru” Ryan locks horns with Luke “”Darling Bresnan.

I think this that while both fighters have good striking ability, and could look to trade bombs if they wanted to, but Ryan will look to control the superior Boxer on the ground, and if he can try and finish him there. He might want to avoid getting into a BJJ match however, as the superiority of Bresnan’s ability was showcased in him first bout as he rocked his opponent with a stiff shot, took him down and submitted him in the first round.

I think this could be a very entertaining and unpredictable fight, but that Bresnan may just have the edge in the right areas to clinch it, how this one is going to finish though is anyone’s guess.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Luke Bresnan, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 3
Sausage “Soy” McMuffin 1-1-0 v Jack McVitie 1-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Both these fighters will want to turn their fortunes around after suffering a loss most recently, as they look to climb the middleweight rankings here at Mayhem 2. McMuffin, a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is going to have a very clear game plan coming in here, take McVitie to the ground early and force him to tap out.

McVitie, the superior wrestler and boxer of the two has the better chance here in my opinion. I think he has the ability to stuff the takedown attempts that he will be subjected too and the striking ability to be able to blitz McMuffin out of there early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Jack McVitie, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Max “The Stinger” Wells 1-1-0 v Glenn Williamson 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

This fight is another close call, as The Stinger will take on Williamson in what is my personal pick of the fight that I most want to see. Wells has yet to get that purely decisive finish to put an exclamation point on his ability, winning his debut by decision and losing his second fight by a nasty Kimura.

He will have needed to work on defending those submissions as he is coming up against a well rounded grappler and brown belt in BJJ in Glenn Williamson, fresh off of his victory over Shamo Lee- for which he won submission of the night honours.

Wells has yet to show his true potential in my eyes and I think he has good ability, but Williamson is not an ideal opponent to be a starting block against. I think Williamson may force a tap out in the first or second round here.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Glenn Williamson, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 5
Thomas Martin 0-0-0 v Shane “Insane” Robinson 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

The debuting Martin is set for a troubling debut against the more experienced Shane Robinson here, as the young brown belt looks to have been thrown against an opponent whose win-loss record, in this writers opinion does not reflect his skillset.

While Martin is clearly (judging by his BJJ rank) the superior in that regard, I think Robinson’s skill-set is a little for rounded and developed, and will edge this fight between the two.

I could of course be completely wrong, and Martin could tear straight out of the gates, and finish Robinson inside of 15 seconds, but I fear that is unlikely for the 18 year old. I think Robinson takes this one by decision.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Shane Robinson, Round 3 (SD/UD)

Fight 6
Mars “Rocket Fuel” Asteroidbelt 1-1-0 v Bob “Pica” The Master 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 145lbs

Asteroidbelt will still be feeling that last fight after he lost despite being the overwhelming favourite against underdog Patrick Clark. “The Master” is also coming off of a solid win in his MMA debut after he submitted his opponent in the third round.

If Asteroidbelt had shown me what I had predicted from him in his last fight, I would have no problem affording him this fight, but I don’t know if he will come into this one clear headed enough or not, and “The Master” will take advantage.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Bob The Master, Round 2 (SUB)

Fight 7
Shawn Kingsten 2-2-0 v Shamo Lee 2-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 155lbs

This is the first fight on the card where I can fully visualise the finish in my head. Kingsten has been submitted twice by a triangle, counting up to his only losses. Lee has won three combat sports bouts with a triangle, and unless Kingsten has trained to defend against this position and leave himself wildly open, we might be seeing a repeat.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Shamo Lee, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 8
Vincent “Fitter” Medici 4-0-0 v Ira “Funny” Wright 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Two highly touted welterweights are set to clash here, when “Fitter” Medici meets “Funny” Wright, where in my opinion the advantage lies with the more inexperienced competitor, Wright. While Medici has appeared dominant so far, submitting all four of his previous opponents, in a combined time that is probably less than it takes you to get out of bed, while Wright had to nearly enter the sixth minute of his fight.

I however believe, Wright is the superior wrestler and boxer, demonstrating very good abilities in both forms, and it is this range of abilities that tips the fight in “Funny’s” favour. While I may regret this, and Wright may become another notch on the belt of Medici, I feel as though he might just have enough to take this.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Ira Wright, Round 2 (TKO/KO)

Fight 9
Rigobert Song 0-0-0 v Marko Demands 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 170lbs

Two pure boxers will take on each other in their debut here at welterweight, this one is difficult to predict due to the fact that we have never seen these two before, so this one will be brief, but I would have to say the obvious height and reach advantage makes Song the obvious choice here, but that is all we really have to go on.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Rigobert Song., Round 3 (SD/UD)

Fight 10
Cody Myres 0-2-0 v “The Legacy” Mark Marx Jr 0-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 170lbs

Marx, a terrific wrestler may look to have his hands full in his debut as he will face off against a skilled boxer and wrestler in Cody Myres. Myres however, has not fared well in his first few fights and therefore may be in a slump, or could just not be cut out for this level.

I think no matter what the result, Myres will have to treat Marx Jr like a big deal and respect the wrestling ability of his opponent. I will go with Myres on this one, but he is running out of time to prove himself.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Cody Myres, Round 3 (TKO/KO)

This is a great card set here for Mayhem 2, as the welterweight division in particular looks to heat up with four total fights taking place on the night. Keep a close eye on this one folks as DFC continues to make a name for itself with Mayhem 2.

DFC Mayhem 2 was originally setup by the prior administration, but this marks the first DFC event in which the match-making was entirely conducted by current DFC administration. This was an exciting card which kick-started some of our title contentions. We had a good mix of stand up and ground fighters, evident by the 4 KO wins, 5 submission wins and 1 decision win. Congratulations to the fighters and managers who won their fights:

Main Event (170lb) - Anthony Pettis managed by Dragon Eye wins by knockout in round 1 over Gary Wilmot. This put Pettis in the #1 contention spot for the 170lb title.

Co-Main event (205lb) - Luke Bresnan managed by Chris Henry wins by Kimura in round 1 over Chip Ryan. This win gives Bresnan a title shot vs. Martin Skvardsonn on 8-12-16.

Fight 8 (185lb) - Jack McVitie managed by Alfie Jackson wins by TKO in round 1 over Sausage McMuffin. With only 1 week of rest between fights, McVitie answered the call to fight and hopefully Sausage recovered quickly from his wounds. This wins solidified Jack McVitie's position as the #2 contender slot for the 185lb title.

Fight 7 (155lb) - Glenn Williamson managed by Gregory House defeated Max Wells by armbar submission in round 1. This win breaks the 4k p4p mark for Williamson and also placed him in the #3 contender slot for the 155lb title.

Fight 6 (205lb) - Shane Robinson managed by Slick Stunner started aggressive with punch combos and finished Thomas Martin by knockout in the first minute. After a debut loss, this win told the fans Shane is a fighter prepared for the long haul and he even threw his mouthpiece into the crowd in celebration. Despite Martin complaining to the ref, Martin is still a crowd favorite and a formidable fighter in Las Vegas.

Fight 5 (145lb) - Bob the Master managed by Bruno Zambiazi continues his undefeated streak after forcing Mars Asteroidbelt to tap in 35 seconds. Bob the Master is a great fighter with huge potential. Hopefully his currently MIA manager will return for Bob to move into title contention in the near future.

Fight 4 (155lb) - Shamo Lee managed by Dale Mac recovered from his recent loss to Glenn Williamson and made quick work of Shawn Kingsten after forcing a tapout by Kimura in less than two minutes. This win by Lee puts him into the top 10 fighters in the 155 class.

Fight 3 (170lb) - In only 11 seconds Ira Wright (managed by David Brent) scored a flawless victory vs. the undefeated (4-0) and older fighter, Vincent Medici. Ira Wright showed his prowess as a fighter in the cage and he has earned himself a fight (if he accepts) against Marc Voss on 8-12-16. The winner will be moving into position for the 170lb title contention.

Fight 2 (170lb) - Rigobert Song, managed by Mystery Man, had a debuting match against Marko Demand who was also debuting. Both ground fighters took turns in the clinch and takedown, but both fighters had too much pride to tap. Song ended up winning the match after leaving it to the judges. Somehow, the fans fell in love with both fighters as they both became more popular after this fight.

Opening match (170lb) - Mark Marx Jr. (managed by The Impaler) started the night off right when he forced Cody Myers to tap in 38 seconds. This was the third loss for Cody Myers who again failed to keep the fight in the standup. Mark Marx however, is a young fighter at 19 and this win vs. a 25 year old fighter proves Marx is a dangerous opponent.

Fight of the night - Luke Bresnan and Chip Ryan were given fight of the night award. Ryan controlled the fight early and appaered to have it in the bag after a nice takedown and some brutal ground strikes to Bresnan's brain bucket. Bresnan maintained his composure, managed a takedown of his own which put him into side control and gained him a submission win over a very tough opponent in Chip Ryan.

KO of the night - 11 seconds! 11 seconds! 11 seconds! Ira Wright took Vincent Medici off his feet before Medici had a chance to move his feet. Wright is a serious savage, taking out the undefeated (4-0) older fighter, Ira Wright made his debut in DFC memorable. Wright is a fighter to watch folks, as he has big things ahead of him. I am excited to watch him grow in DFC.

Sub of the night - Wells controlled this fight and it appeared Williamson couldn't do anything but defend. Wells took the clinch and fed blow after blow putting Williamson in back-pedal mode. The crafty Williamson however, used Wells' confidence and momentum against him. Williamson found a trip takedown and transitioned into some quick sub attempts forcing Wells to beg for mercy.

Next up DFC presents Sin City 1 on 7-23-2016 in Las Vegas. This will be another stacked event with heavy hitters in each match. Get your bets in now at Knockout Bets in Las Vegas.

DFC: Sin City 1 (23 July 2016 – The Palmtree, Las Vegas) Preview and Predictions – Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)
To bet on these fights, use “Knockout Bets”
Sponsored by “Bad Company” fight wear.

The inaugural DFC: Sin City event will be headlined by a huge fight for the DFC Middleweight title between Jon Laston and Harley Umbuku, to establish the first ever holder of that title in the organisation. The rest of the card is stacked including a monster clash at heavyweight when Artur the Axe takes on Hinrik Leifsson.

Fight 1
Scott “Woo” Who 2-0-0 vs Jon “Junior” Lewis 1-2-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

You can bet a lot of fighters on the card tonight will be eagerly monitoring the main event of the evening, as four other bouts at middleweight have been scheduled- and Jon Lewis and Scott Who will be no exceptions.

Who is coming in with a lot of momentum and confidence, having finished his first two fights inside a combined time of 2 minutes and 36 seconds, one via KO and one by Submission, showing that he has a versatile arsenal and is adequately prepared for a less diverse fighter in Lewis, whose boxing ability is incredibly well developed, is likely to very quickly realise against “Woo” Who that this is VERY different from a boxing match.

Unless Lewis can somehow keep this fight standing up, he will get taken out and taken out early by the Australian.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Scott Who, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 2
Johnny Vivas 2-3-0 vs Tommy “Takedown” Teague 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

This light heavyweight fight is liable to resemble more of an amateur wrestling match than a mixed martial arts affair as two men who are extensively trained in this style are set to battle it out- where it is more than certain the majority of this one will be fought on the ground.

The size advantage of Teague will give him the edge here, and looking upon their last fights I pick him out to be the more composed fighter, less likely to make disastrous errors in the cage. Due to this composure, I think Teague will edge this one by decision, if V ivas wants to avoid this, he will want to rain down a thunderstorm of strikes on the ground, as if the fight drags on it will become harder for him to impose himself.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Tommy “Takedown” Teague, Round 3 (SD/UD)

Fight 3
Alexander “The Great” Dippe 0-1-0 v Timmy “White” Jones 1-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

“The Great” will have to earn his moniker, having suffered quick defeat in his debut fight against Tommy Gunner. Jones, conversely overcame his opponent in his debut fight with relative ease, smothering his opponent in punches and sending him out in the first round.

Dippe will want to keep this fight standing up to stand a chance, but I think he is too readily outmatched. Assuming that Jones is fit and ready, I think he will demonstrate his class and finish Dippe in the first round.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Timmy Jones, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 4
Adonis “Creed” Creed 1-0-0 v Dean Wesson 2-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

This fight at light heavyweight will see a thrilling up and comer in Adonis Creed, who scorched his opponent out in FIVE seconds in his debut, overwhelming him in a whirlwind of strikes immediately. While Wesson will be wary of the ferocious power of his opponent, I believe that his wide ranging and superior skillset will see him through this one, and that he may be able to catch Creed off guard and choke him out.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Dean Wesson, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 5
Uriah “Money” Hall 1-0-0 v Renato “The Talent” Sanches 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Two middleweights are scheduled to make their middleweight debut here as “Money” Hall locks horns with “The Talent” Sanches. Both fighters will look to use their strong skillset in Muay Thai to the fullest here, as they look to establish themselves here in the landscape of DFC – Las Vegas as quickly as possible.

Other qualities however may determine the result of this fight. Sanches is ranked as a purple belt in BJJ, whereas Hall is well rounded in amateur wrestling. In my opinion I think Sanches just edges Hall in terms of quality here, but the fight could go either way.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Renato Sanches, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 6
Richie “H+” Chaids 1-0-0 v Prince “Steve” Wadir 0-1-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

This fight at light heavyweight for me can only go one way, while the teenager Wadir is a highly talented BJJ practitioner, Chaids’ game is just too well rounded for the youngster to match up against, and he might send him crashing out early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Richie “H+” Chaids, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 7
Combat Device 2-1-0 v Horacio Martins 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 185lbs

Martins could be a strong contender for this bout after an impressive recent showing against Lyoto Destroyer, where he submitted him within the round making his professional debut. I however feel the incredibly strong striking game of Combat Devise will be too overwhelming for him.

If Martins is to have a chance, he needs to immediately try and control the fight on the ground, where Device has looked hopeless- it’s with his hands and feet where the danger lies. That said I take Device to win this early.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Combat Device, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 8
Tim “The German” Arntz 0-1-0 v Robb “King” Stark 1-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes 205lbs

The German takes on “King Stark” at light heavyweight, in what for me is the fight I am intrigued by most. Arntz is a terrific boxer and wrestler, but suffered a defeat in his first bout that exposed a few chinks in his armour. Stark on the other hand is an extremely well rounded fighter, and could be looking to use his wrestling and BJJ ability to win the fight on the ground, and avoid trading blows with the superior boxer.

I think if Stark adopts this strategy, then he should be able to win this in the first round, but he needs to come into this with a solid game plan in place.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Robb Stark, Round 1 (SUB)

Fight 9
Artur The Axe 5-2-0 v Hinrik “The Ice-Giant” Leifsson 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 265lbs

The only fight on the card not scheduled for middleweight or light heavyweight, The Axe vs The Ice-Giant is set to see two heavy strikers duke it out, in a fight that showcase two of the most high profile contenders in the division.

Both men primarily employ Muay Thai clinch striking techniques, but I feel as though The Axe has the edge there, as well as being far the superior boxer. Leifsson does have the ground control advantage, but I doubt his ability to employ this in his gameplan and think that he will go into this fight hands raised ready for a war rather than trying to take this one to the ground.

Despite the reach advantage, I believe The Axe has two much for the man from Iceland, and will be the first man to test Leifsson’s chin, primarily by knocking him out in the first or second round.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) Artur The Axe, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

Fight 10
John “Icon” Laston 5-1-0 v Harley Umbuku 2-0-0: 3 Rounds of 5 Minutes for the Middleweight title

The main event of the evening will be for the Middleweight championship as John “Icon” Laston against Harley Umbuku. Laston is riding a four win KO streak with all victories coming inside the first round, and his opponent will be forced to be wary of this brutal punching power. Umbuku fights in a style that can be described as a Muay Thai – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu hybrid, and has successfully submitted both of his two opponents to get this far.

Looking over their past fights, I can only see one man winning this one, and as Umbuku never dominated the fights he won, but usually turned a position against other grapplers or people that tried to control him on the ground against themselves, I think he will struggle against a pure puncher like Laston.

I think that after a stoppage in the first round, Laston’s hand will be raised as the new, and inaugural DFC – Middleweight champion.

Gabe T.S. Gardner’s Prediction: (W) John Laston, Round 1 (TKO/KO)

This is a card very stacked towards the end of the weight divisions, with 5 middleweight, 4 light heavyweight and 1 heavyweight fights on the card – and that is a lot of power, speed and skill that will be lighting up The Palmtree in Las Vegas, NV on the 23rd of July. With a huge title fight scheduled, this event will be one to remember.

Dean Wesson: Alright Robb Stark, we both are young up and coming fighters on winning streaks. You just beat Rocky and I took out Creed. Even though I'm Team Stark, the problem is you are in my way towards claiming the "Iron Throne" of the LHW championship. So nothing personal but let's step in the cage and reenact the Red Wedding.

Recap by J. Lawrence

Sin City 1 moved us into the 50th position worldwide and moved us from 8th to 7th in Las Vegas Orgs, passing our good friends at Bravado Productions. This event kick-started the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight divisions; including the crowning of our very first middleweight champion.

Congratulations to the following winners:

Main Event (Middleweight)- Jon Laston (managed by Josh Laston) got his 3rd straight victory in DFC and this time it crowned him Middleweight Champion. Laston defeated the formerly undefeated Harley Umbuku within the first round and without ever getting touched. Umbuku came out hard and fast, but couldn't make skin to skin contact with Laston and his dancing feet.

Co-Main Event (Heavyweight) - Our only heavyweight fight showed the undefeated Leifsson taking the fight to the clinch time after time. However, it was Artur who was dominating from the clinch and Leifsson didn't figure this out until he was unconcious on the mat. Leiffson controlled the tempo and had the ability to place Artur in any position he wanted throughout the fight, but Artur just kept meeting Leiffson's control with punches. Artur TheAxe (managed by Josh Laston) took the victory here and moves into the #1 contender slot for the heavyweight title. Due to Leiffson controlling the fight, but Artur effectively winning the fight, this fight kept the fans on the edges of their seats and earned the fight of the night award.

Fight 8 (Light Heavyweight) - Robb Stark (managed by Vlad Fresh) stood toe to toe with Tim Arntz as they traded blows. After 40 seconds Arntz was already looking at the clock and Stark took this advantage to lay Arntz out cold. This win earned Stark the #1 contender slot for the light heavyweight title.

Fight 7 (Middleweight) - Combat Device (managed by Kj Jackson) made quick work of Horacio Martins and knocked him out in the first minute. I don't think Martin was at all prepared for this fight as he never got a shot in and Device side-stepped every takedown and clinch attempt from Martin. The lack of ability to close the distance kept Martin's ground skills at bay and allowed Device to pick Martin apart. Combat Device proved he is still a top fighter in the middleweight class after his surprising loss vs. Tottingham at BBP 4.

Fight 6 (Light Heavyweight) - Richie Chaids (managed by Wally Banter) managed to get himself in mount and dessimated Prince Wadir's face. It was a violent and decisive victory by Chaids after a surprisingly monotonous bout involving two fighters who appeared to want to hug each other in the clinch more than punch each other in the face. This was a great win by Chaids to improve his career and move him to a 2-0 professional record. However, Chaids has not yet found a way to appeal to the fans.

Fight 5 (Middleweight) - Uriah Hall (managed by Frank Lampard) had an opportunity to display his kickboxing background vs. Renato Sanches, another Muay Thai kickboxer with a reputation for great kicks. Hall dominated every aspect of this fight with kicks, punches, knees, clinches, and an ability to dodge every attempt from Sanches. With true kickboxing style, Hall met Sanches' head with his foot from a standing position and Sanches fell like a stiff board. This was probably the fight I was most excited for and hopefully it gave us a little insight to the excitement we might face in a month or so when the kickboxing league begins. This beautiful and brutal display of kickboxery earned Uriah Hall the KO of the night award.

Fight 4 (Light Heavyweight) - Dean Wesson (managed by Jax Stark) fought in an unpredictable and even matchup vs. Adonis Creed. Adonis specializes in fighting from the clinch and probably could've won the fight if he kept it in the clinch, but Adonis made the mistake of taking Wesson to the ground - bad idea! On the ground is where Wesson is at home and Adonis didn't have a chance of escape by the time he realized this. Wesson won by submission for our only submission victory at this event. By defeault, Wesson wins the submission of the night award.

Fight 3 (Middleweight) - Alexander Dippe (managed by Donny Darkow) is a skilled Muay Thai fighter with an affinity for his knees. Dippe used his knees on this night to tear the undefeated Timmy Jones apart. Jones couldn't find a way out of the clinch or away from Dippe's knees until he finally gave up and just covered up, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

Fight 2 (Light Heavyweight) - Although this fight ended in a draw, it was altogether a very interesting fight. Both Johnny Vivas and Tommy Teague are experienced wrestlers who prefer the ground N pound. They scored plenty of takedowns and effectively administered their ground and pound tactics against each other, but these fighters were each so resilient and so evenly matched, they went all 3 rounds and the judges couldn't decide who won.

Opening Fight (Middleweight) - The undefeated Scott Who is no longer undefeated. Jon Lewis (managed by Zuzana Holm found a way to force Scott's eyes into the back of his head. With a wonderful combination of punches, kicks, elbows, and kness Jon Lewis found openings and executed an offensive flurry that Scott could not defend. Some critics say if Scott had managed his weight better, he would've been the victor in this bout.

Over the next week we will be finishing the events scheduled for the 2nd weekend of August. We will also begin filling the events for the 3rd weekend of August. If you have special requested, please ask. I want to send a special thank you to those who have given us a 10-rating. This helps your fighter and the org when it comes to ranking and gaining hype. To add a rating please go to contracts - click on the green check mark in top right - rate 10. If you don't feel DFC deserves a 10, please tell me why so I can improve.

You asked for it and you got it. Almost a month from now on 8-19-2016 at DFC - Mayhem 6.

11 more days Ben and the world is going to know that Hugh Jaskok is the first ever 155 DFC - Las Vegas champ. Wrapping things up in a few days at The Jungle Gym in Rio than heading to Sin City first class to whoop that ass boy! Word from your boys I'm already in your head and this is my time and I'm going to make Mr. Lawrence a very happy man when he hands me that fight of the night performance.

Liam Fitzpatrick (290416)

"Upon becoming the inaugural DFC-LV Bantamweight Champion I thought to myself, what kind of Champion do I want to be? Do I want to be respectful? Courteous? Encouraging? FUCK. THAT. Daren Greeley you low life scum. Even your parents don't care about you enough to spell your name correctly Daren. You got your arse kicked by the guy whose arse I just kicked. And yet here you are thinking you have a chance against me. Either that or you don't value your own life. Good luck with your post fighting career! There's some encouragement for you."
