ludovik
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1360138617asclogo2h.png You might remember this tournament idea from a few weeks ago. It was canceled for specific reasons that were to be announced. So it's finally time and even though some of you already know it, we're going to announce it. The tournament was canceled because Scott received a PM from Dean Sutherland about taking Ascension as he was leaving it. Scott took me with him to Los Angeles for the reunion regarding this decision. Scott accepted it and we were thinking about what to do next. There was no doubt about moving over to LA but should we keep it as Ascension or change the name? Geezers: The Ascension, Ascension: Geezers... Turns out that the merge between Ascension and Geezers Palace will be named: Ascension. Yeah, nothing changed. The group decided to keep it's name but to make sure to have a last event as the former Ascension and a new one as the future arrives. Another reunion decided that Roger Kint should stay as he always rocked with his designs and he's also a big member in the history of the organization and with him Big Boss keeps the team strong. And with everything already decided, May 31st marks the last Ascension event as you know it. Even though we already managed it starting with the Bad Blood event, Ascension's official new chapter will begin after The Last One event. We hope to have your support from now on So it's time to announce our first move to bring back life to our lighter divisions. We will start a $4 Million Tournament with a weight limit of 145 lbs. So let's get the rules! 3 x 5 min rounds - Exception for the finale (5 x 5 min rounds) "10 point must" scoring 2 weeks between fights Sudden death fights in a 16-man bracket. Fighters' hype + pop are an important factor for taking a spot, but if a fighter doesn't have a big hype + pop, but has good skills, he can definitely fight here. We're waiting for your fighter! As soon as we have all spots filled we'll announce the first event date. Here is the the current list of fighters: - Meat Loaf / Brandon Loveladdy - Aaron Witt / Johnny Lee Paris - Jake Lamotta / Scott Davies - Scott Cain / Gerda Goraman - Titus Garner / Anderson Silva - Waru Kuzuri / Ethan Downs - Chauncey Silvestre / Sean McDonnel - Gegard Houellebecq / Roger Kint - Clint Lomax / Mihail Montana - Chris Mullen / Inigo Montoya - Red Fox / Kojiro Sasaki - Charlie Magri / Central Park Wigan - Vevrin Betlach / Michal Wysoki - MixMaster Me / Mega Jug - Pikku Näkäräinen / Zenaral Mänätzer - Torsti Turjake / Bradley Burns 16/16 Best of luck for the participants! ludovik
#1- Pikku Näkäräinen: Näkäräinen is a veteran of Syncronicity and ONI as well. With a record of 23-8-2, the former champion of both orgs in different weight classes has managed to establish a name for himself on the mma scene. More than 50% of his wins have come by way of submission and when you see this guy entering the cage for a fight, you'll notice that he carries a very bright red belt in BJJ. If it goes to the ground he's probably one of the best in the world and specially in this tournament. He's been submited only twice to top grapplers and he's sure that no one here will be able to finish him. This guy is only 152cm tall but if you see his pace and all the speed he puts into his grappling skills as well as all the other aspects of the game, you can't count him out as one of the favorites to win this. #2- Chris Mullen: Mullen is probably the best guy overall. Striking is top notch. He's considered a elite boxer and a elite muay thai artist, winning tournaments in both areas when he was a young kid and he still wins some of them once in a while. Around that he's provided solid ground skills to avoid eventual problems in that department. He's been around a lot of places and experience will be one of his biggest advantages. #3- Scott Cain: He came along with many fighters from Geezers Palace and he had the opportunity to face the current 145 lbs champion of Ascension in a unification title bout. He came up short against Power but he'll be one of the top guys here as our #3 seed. He is what everyone like to call as a complete mma fighter. He has solid muay thai, an amazing boxing, though he used the most of his black belt at BJJ to get the majority of his wins by submission. What path will he choose in this tournament? Either way, Cain will probably make it far. #4- Red Fox: Fox never submitted someone. That`s not a surprise when you take a look at the majority of his fights ending via strikes. He's been around for so long and fought before at Ascension and made a run as champion at ONI. He faced plenty of the tournament guys and expects that his knowledge and experience will guide him towards a much needed win in this tournament. Expect Fox to give his best in each fight and he won't leave without a good old fight. #5- Meat Loaf: Loaf is a well rounded fighter that can defeat you anywhere he wants. He's defeated his opponents using every single aspect of mixed martial arts. He's a small being with plenty of speed to use and he's been training a lot since his last fight that was... against his next opponent. He was the first one to dethrone Witt and will try to do the same again. Some might say that Loaf is one of the dark horses of this tournament and I believe in them. If you do not watch out for this guy's athleticism and skills, he might wake you up on the top of the hill. #6- Clint Lomax: This guy is a living legend. Over 50 fights (42-9-1) and only lost 9 of them. Never submitted someone or got submitted. Lomax likes to bang and still he does not get knocked out. Only twice in his career he was stopped so you can definitely expect wild shots and crazy combinations by this one. There's plenty to say about him but let's see if the legend can live up to his name and become the tournament champion for a chance at redemption against Danny Power. #7- Vevrin Betlach: Another veteran of the sport, Betlach has great skills in all areas but he seemed to struggle against worldwide top competition. He's the last 155 lbs GP champions and decided to grop to 145 in order to achieve greatness with this tournament. He will provide a tough fight against any opponent in all areas if he's able to present his game at the highest level. That's the main question. Will he be able to do that? Or will he be dominated by a solid gameplan? #8- Jake Lamotta: Lamotta is one of the tallest guys out here and that might be an advantage for a guy that feels comfortable on his feet and on the ground. He might be one of the top seeds here but I think that we might see him struggle a bit against the top guys here. Magri will provide a great challenge for him and after that fight we'll see if Jake has what it takes to become the winner. #9- Gegard Houellebecq: Houellebecq has been fighting at one the best lighter division of the world. UPG provides great competition and he's faced tons of them there. He build his skills very wisely and seems to be one the most intelligent guys out here. He can use that as an advantage during the fight and the creation of a gameplan. He can go far in this tournament but facing the top seed in the first fight might be too soon for him. If he wins, that will be a huge boost of confidence for a guy that already trusts a lot in his skills. #10- Chauncey Silvestre: Silvestre had a few good runs in some orgs and enters the tourney with one goal only: prove everybody wrong and show them that he can be one of the best in the world. He lost his last fight by TKO and that was the first time he lost in such way. That might give us a hint that his chin can hold a lot of shots and that might be the difference in a close fight. He's a huge underdog against Mullen, but as everyone knows, anything can happen in mma. #11- Charlie Magri: Veteran boxer in his early years, Magri comes here with tons of skills when it comes to striking. If you take a look at his stats, that will explain how a fight goes to him: He can TKO you but he's never been KO'd. He can be submitted and he probably won't submit you. Let's wait and see how this tournament will go for the former boxer. #12- Aaron Witt: Witt was undefeated for his first 23 fights. He was never a great striker and only had decent skills there. His grappling is elite but he's still a brown belt. He got destroyed quickly by Loaf in their last fight and if he doesn't present something different, we might see the same result. Witt will try to take you down and work his skills from there. Do not expect him to go out and try to take your head off. He will avoid striking and that might be a weak point in his game. Tough we mentioned all that stuff, Witt has one of the most interesting personalities of the group. #13- Waru Kuzuri: Maybe there is someone higher ranked as legend than Lomax and that guy is Kuzuri. He fought most of his career on ONI and is ready to take over Ascension. Even though he recently struggled against some competition, he's totally able to come here and win this one. He is definitely a legend but his status here will be as a dark horse, old style underdog ready to spoil the party of the top ranked guys. #14- MixMaster Me: Me recently got a 4 fight losing streak and managed to get back on the winning track with a great KO. He does not like to submit people or let them submit him. He prefers to mix it up with the striking but I feel like this tournament will be too much for him. He might give his best against Lomax but I believe that Me is not on the same level as the majority here. Will he be able to prove us wrong? #15- Titus Garner: Former xXx and Empire fighter, Garner usually does not finish his fights. He has plenty of experience in top level organizations and competition. He might find himself in a tough spot against a top seed, but if he's able to use his ground skills, he has a shot at winning some rounds and maybe a whole fight. #Replacement- Torsti Turjake: Turjake entered this tournament taking Sugarol`s spot. He's a much better fighter and has a huge win streak on his back. The main problem is that his last fight was a long time ago. Will he suffer from ring rust? He has tools to be a legitimate contender and his fight against Fox will provide a great show for fans. He can defeat the top seed and win this thing. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out, but Turjake can definitely finish you everywhere. Expect him to prefer his hands and punch you until you quit.
