callmepoppa1
From a realistic POV they definitely should be more effective than punches - if you have a muay thai advantage. Even uppercuts in the clinch are useless against legit muay thai skills. There is just no way you can get any leverage to throw punches from the clinch if your opponent is off-balancing you and twisting you from one side to the other. It's just a huge no-no. if your opponent grabs you in a clinch you must immediately posture and grab him as well be in the arms or the neck. if you let him grab you and advance position you will get kneed in the face. so no one should be worried about throwing punches from the clinch in the first place. Of course I'm talking about straight up muay thai clinch. in mma with the posibility of underhooks and takedowns things can change and you don't ever see examples of what I'm saying because MMA fighters don't know or don't use the muay thai clinch. But if you have a Muay Thai primary advantage and are about even on Wrestling then you should be able to f*** someone up with knees and elbows from the clinch. Maybe an advance position slider for in the clinch and add a new position related to the clinch. 'Thai plum' and knees/elbows from this position deal extra damage?

This would be cool but probably requires more effort than Mike will ever put into the fight engine (not that there's anything wrong with it). But simply tweaking effectiveness seems to be really simple (based on how fast he upped takedown effectiveness) so it's more realistic to hope he will just do that. Then at the most add flavor text like " Fighter A works a double neck collar tie and smashes a knee into Fighter B's head".

jjsquirrel
The rules says: A grounded fighter is defined as: Any part of the body, other than a single hand and soles of the feet touching the fighting area floor. To be grounded, both hands palm/fist down, and/or any other body part must be touching the fighting area floor. A single knee, arm, makes the fighter grounded without having to have any other body part in touch with the fighting area floor. At this time, kicks or knees to the head will not be allowed. kBEAST
My bad, read neck collar tie as necktie and assume a choke
