How To Move A Fighter

One of my fighters has signed with an organisation in a different city to where I train. What are my options?

There are two options available to you, you can either move to the new city permanently or choose to stay in his home city and travel over for fights.

What are the advantages and disadvantages?

The main advantage in moving is that you don't have to worry about making sure your fighter is in the right city at the right time. This means you don't risk a No Contest for not being in the right place.

However the disadvantage is the initial cost of the move which is very expensive and it costs a lot of energy and morale which needs to be restored. Especially when you are new to the game, this amount can simply be insurmountable.

Visiting the city simply to fight is a much cheaper option and means losing less energy and no morale at all.

However, in the long term it can become more expensive as it will cost you each time you travel and it requires far more management. This is not just the management of where the fighter is but the cash in his account as it costs money each day to stay in another city.

I understand the basic premise now, but I cannot even find where you move the fighter? Is it a VIP option only?

No, it is not a VIP option and people commonly miss where the moving information is.

To get to the appropriate page, you need to select the word "MAP" on the options menu on the right hand side of the game page. It is next to the Highstreet option where you go to find companies in MMATycoon.

This page is confusing! How do I move?

The page may seem overwhelming at first but it imparts several pieces of important information all at one time. From top to bottom, this is the information that it gives

The World Map

Although the information may seem that has been repeated elsewhere this map gives you a visual to how the world map looks from the furthest point behind GMT (-10 hours behind GMT which is Hilo in Hawaii) through to GMT in the center and then to the furthest point ahead (+10 hours ahead of GMT which is Sydney, Australia).

This is important when you start out as MMATycoon works off two important time periods. Most functions work of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time or 0 hour) with training happening at 9am and 9pm on that clock. You can use the map as a new player to orientate yourself to when training will happen in your local time zone.

However fights happen at 6pm in the local time zone of the city your fighter is in. This means that fighters in different cities (and different time zones) will fight at different times and will be at different times compared to when training happens as well.

So a fighter (in the summer) in London fighting at 6pm local time will have the previous training session at 10am the previous morning London time corresponding with the am session in training of that day. However a fighter in Las Vegas who also fights at 6pm local time will have had the previous training session at 11am local time but will correspond with the pm session of the previous day.

This may seem confusing but is important for this reason. You want your fighter to go into a fight with as much energy as possible so you want him to rest and the only way your fighter can restore energy is my resting in the designated training times. When you travel you lose energy so it becomes even more possible to know when the resting times correspond with the fight times so you can travel at the right time.

You may have noticed terms like summer time appear throughout, this is due to MMATycoon times changing when the clocks change but this will be clearly identified when it happens.

Tables

Manager Base Changing

The first tables is the information you need as a manager to help you make the decision where you should move your managers base.

This table shows you how many managers, fighters, orgs and gyms are in each city. To be honest, at this point in the games development there is not really that good a reason to move your manager base however if you do wish to.

If you decide to move the managers base the link is the highlighted black link under the "Numbers will be updated every 30 minutes" statement. Clicking on this will open up a very simple page with your name and a drop down menu with the city to select.

It is very easy to select a city and go at this point however it costs to change managers base (the same as it costs to move a fighters base) although it will state in red how much it will cost. There is a useful link on that page to examine costs of moving to the different cities within the text above. This page will be discussed below.

Fighter Base Changing

This is self evident as it simply stacks your fighters in order of creation, giving you where there base is and where they are currently located. It then gives you the options to visit or move to another city.

These open to another very easy to use page, where the fighter and his location are stated and a drop down menu gives you the cities to travel to options. When you select a city it will say how much it will cost so check before you confirm the move.

Confirming this will mean your fighter moves immediately.

The Final Links

These links at the very bottom of the page can be considered the most important of all on this page.

These are often lost but they are there right at the bottom of the page as you scroll down.

Fight Scheduling

The first link takes you to the schedule fight page which allows you to prebook a flight to a

different city in advance. The controls follow the others with drop down menus for the important attributes however you do have to select the base (the place the fighter currently is) of a fighter as well as his destination.

Now comes the tricky bit which is the time.

The time is a 24 hour drop down menu which corresponds with the GMT clock and not the clock of the city the fighter is in. This means if you want a fighter to leave at 11pm (2300) in New York -4 GMT in the summer you need to select 1900 on the clock for the fighter to leave at the correct time.

Travel Guide

The second link which speaks for itself "check cost of moving/visiting cities here" is the travel guide and will give you exact amount of time it takes to travel between different cities, how much it will cost and how much energy you will need to give up for both visiting and moving.

It is noteworthy that this will automatically select the managers base as its default setting. Make sure that you change to the base of the fighter you want to move to get accurate information.

Moving Fighters

This gives you a blank information point which you can select any fighter to move or visit anywhere depending on the link you press. It is also the preferred option if using a phone to change location.

So lets get down to it, why would I choose moving over visiting or vice versa?

The first consideration is cost.

It costs 10 times the amount to move than visit a city which means the fighter has to have enough money up front to do so. It also costs in morale and further energy so it really is something that should be done way before a fight happens so there is plenty of time to recover.

Visiting comes with its own costs though as you don't only pay to fly there but you also have to pay to fly back. This means in 5 trips you will pay as much as you would had if you had moved.

On top of that you pay $100 a day just to be in the city. This covers your hotel fees, food etc that you would need to pay out if staying in another city. Therefore in the long run it costs more to travel everywhere than a permanent move however the payments are broken up.

One last thing to remember is that it costs more to go long distances than short ones. If your fighter is going a long way then the costs can rack up much faster than short ones which may also be a factor in your decision making.

The second consideration is training

This varies greatly from fighter to fighter as the best place to get training will depend on your contacts within the game and what options are open to you. Several managers linked with big alliances have gyms open to them in some cities and not others so choose to stay in that city and travel to get the best training.

In other situations, the org may have a gym that is dedicated to them and you can get the best training there so moving makes sense.

If none of these options are available then look at the public gyms available. Look at the class sizes, amount of gyms that are at a level you want to be training at - a city with many elite gyms for instance is likely to have more room for your fighter than one with a few - and then make your decision that way.

Finally you have to consider your own reliability. Are you going to remember to get your fighter into the right city at the right time? If the answer is no then moving them full time is definitely the best option as No Contests have all sorts of connotations behind them.

The most direct ones will be that your fighter does not get paid and you get an ugly NC on your record which will also drop both your manager and fighter down the Pound for Pound list. However it has wider issues. Managers with lots of NC's may find it harder to get a contract as they may seem to be unreliable (whether you are or not).

You may also become unpopular with the org owner. NC's cost the org money and ratings which effect where they rank and who they could bring in to further improve. This can lead to bad match ups.

Taking all into consideration, the decision is going to be dependent on each fighters situation.

Other common questions

Can my fighter train in a gym if he is visiting another city?

Yes, as long as you can afford to, you can train in any gym open to you.

Remember though it is far more expensive (it costs $100 a day to stay in another city) to do this and you want to be at 100% energy for the fight. It is often more cost effective to train to the latest point possible at the base city and then move with just enough training sessions to get back to 100% fitness.

If my fighter is in a gym in anther country will he train as normal?

No, a fighter in another city from the gym he is in will not train.

If he is due to spar one on one, the partner will not gain anything either.

Will my fighter still pay gym fees if my fighter is in another city but is still registered to a gym where his base is?

Yes, a fighter will still pay gym fees for a gym he is in even if he is another country and cannot train in it.

look at the table on how much energy your going to lose, then figure each rest session is about 5% recovery of energy and figure out how early you need to leave so your not low on energy going into the fight.

flying first class cuts the energy loss in half

MY BAD, just noticed how old this post was, lol
