Tonight's results for Impact's Mid-week Maul 2 awards of the night;

Fight of the night; goes to Matt Lockwood vs Shickly Dudu. Lockwood starts off his career with a great win by controlling the clinch and letting fly with some big uppercuts, A big right hand dropped Dudu to the canvas in 1m 25s followed up by a barrage of strikes before the referee had to jump in and stop the fight.

KO of the night; goes to Mike Goon, a huge punch put a stop to the fight in the 2nd round. Goon throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Grozni is out!

Submission of the night: goes to Merari Bakannustus. In a real ground battle Bakannustus manages to win in his debut fight for Impact with a triangle.

All managers have received $2k for their efforts.

Sorry for the lack or previews/reviews, more writing will be coming in the very near future.

Tonight's results for Impact FC 5 awards of the night ;

Fight of the night; goes to Dave Dance vs Graham Ritchie. This impressive battle of the ground fighters eventually saw Dance put a stop to the fight by way TKO (strikes) in the second round. Dance was impressive throughout the fight but Ritchie put up an impressive battle. The crowd were on the edge of their seats.

KO of the night; goes to Lucas Pierce. Pierce feints a jab and as Kostov dips his head, Pierce unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Kostov right on the jaw! Timbeeer! A great head kick that ends the fight in the first round.

Submission of the night; goes to Santa Claus, well I guessed we all wondered what he did for the rest of the year, now we now. An impressive armbar put a stop to Janusz Sumda after 3 minutes in the first round.

All three fighters will receive $2k for their efforts.

A full review of FC 5 to follow very shortly.

Impact FC 5 review

Deuce McCrakin (0-0) vs. Ryan Conner (3-0)

This fight started off with Conner being very aggressive. He was not able to land much and the best shot of the first minute went to McCrakin with a counter right. The second minute started with Conner countering and moving into the clinch. This started a chain reaction that was going to lead to an eventual win by Conner.
Conner was able to dominate the clinch and land multiple shots to the head and body. McCrakin did break the clinch after about a minute and a half but the damage was done and now McCrakin had to worry about not getting in that position again.
A counter right on the button by Conner set up the final blow and then it was a beautiful left hook that dropped McCrakin.
It took 3:34 but for McCrakin I am sure it felt like 10 minitues of domination.

Winner: Conner (4-0) by TKO (strikes).

Santa Claus (2-0) vs. Januz Smuda (1-0)

This fight was going to the ground and Claus started the fight off with 2 straight shots but Smuda was able to defend them nicely. Smuda was even able to counter one and take Claus down into the guard. Once on the ground, Claus was able to attempt his first sub attempt of the match. Spoiler… many more to come.
Smuda was able to move into side control and start some ground and pound. Smuda got greedy and tried to advance from side control. This was a mistake. Clause snuck out the side and to Smuda’s back!
Cluas’ attempts at a choke were fought off successfully and Smuda was able to scramble to get it back into Claus’ guard. There was some really nice action in the first 2 minutes by both fighters. Smuda was able to cut Claus with some shots but the superior BJJ finally prevailed and without notice Claus isolated an arm and boom… armbar, tap out, fight over.

Winner: Santa Claus (3-0) by Submission (armbar)

Lucas Pierce (2-0) vs. Plamen Kostov (1-0)

Kostov started the fight with a spinning back kick! This was a foreshadowing of how this fight would be determined. However, it was Pierce’s superior kicking that would decide this fight.
Pierce set up a clinch with a leg slapping front low kick. Pierce controlled the clinch and Kostov tried to trick Pierce into a ground war by pulling guard but Pierce would have no part of it. When Kostov got up it was more body and leg kicks by Pierce.
The first knock down came from a right hook to Kostov’s temple but Pierce stayed at range and let Kostov get right up. That was only so Kostov could eat a brutal head kick and out go the lights. Pierce landed 20 of 23 shots in the fight.
Winner: Pierce (3-0) by KO (head kick)

Dave Dance (2-1) vs. Graham Ritchie (1-0)

The first round was a dominating display of ground and pound by Dance. He was able to get a takedown in the first moments of the round and keep top position throughout the round. Dance landed many shots while Ritchie tried his best to escape or counter. Ritchie was just not able to do much of anything and the ref looked like he was close to stopping the fight more than once.
Ritchie started the round with a one, two that both missed and was easily countered by Dance for a takedown. This spelled the end for Ritchie. More of the same as the first round with a dominant ground and pound by Dance. Ritchie tried his best but the strikes were many. Dance was able to soften Ritchie up and get to full mount and after more strikes the ref stopped the fight.

Winner: Dance (3-1) by TKO (strikes)

Big Ball (2-2) vs. Boris Kostov (1-2)

This battle of counter fighters started off slow. Ball gets an early takedown and then for 2 minutes neither fighter gaining a real advantage. After a couple of sweeps by both fighters, Kostov managed a sweep into the mount position. Kostov took his time and landed some decent strikes but it was Ball who was impressive to keep the fight from being stopped and he escaped into round two.
The second round started with a few takedowns and a referee stand up. Fighters have been active on the ground but it is Kostov that has been more effective. Then there is another sweep and Bell takes Kostov’s back with one minute left in the round. Kostov does a great job of defending strikes and a late sub attempt to force a 3rd round.
There was more of the same in the third round. Kostov was able to get an early takedown. After a ref standup, Kostov puts an exclamation point on the fight with a suplex of Ball. That was enough to win all three rounds on all three judges cards.

Winner: Kostov (2-2) by unanimous decision

Matthew Bamaby (1-0) vs. Martin Jensen (0-2)

Neither fighter was being aggressive in this fight. Most of the first round was spent in the clinch or on the ground but the action was light. The action did pick up in the final minute of the round where Barnaby landed several kicks that had the house on its feet.
The second round was all Barnaby. I am not sure if Jensen landed a shot. Barnaby applied constant pressure with kicks and knees in the clinch. Jensen hung in until the 3:35 mark where 2 knees in a row floored Jensen and the ref finally stopped the massacre.

Winner: Barnaby (2-0) by TKO (knees)

Robert Marchant (1-0) vs. Janne Simila (1-2)

This fight started off with a vicious knee to the jaw of Marchant and cut him. After that the fight turned defensive. There were lots of takedown attempts by both fighters that were being sprawled away time after time. Simila landed a few more shots to close off the round.
The second round starts with two tired fighters. Simila manages to pull guard 2 mins into the round and the pace picked up. Two sub attempts that Marchant was able to defend and then they were back up on their feet.
Simila controlled the third round with some kicks and pulling guard a few times. Marchant was able to pull guard at the very end of the fight and try a guillotine but it was defended and the fight was over.

Winner: 27:30 x3 Simila (2-2)

Islam Naslamajev (1-1) vs. Texas Outlaw (0-1)

This fight was about as one sided as it gets. Outlaw started off with a series off punches that finished with a spinning back fist. He just kept throwing and landing punches mainly to the head. 11 out of 13 landed and the final three punch combo knocked out Naslamajev out cold. In fact, Naslamajev didn’t get a punch off in the 1:56 it took to finish the fight. Domination.

Winner: Outlaw (1-1) by KO (punch)

Mike Tyson (2-2) vs. Alexsandr Emalianenko (2-3)

Both fighters came out guns a blazing for this fight. Emalianenko did a good job of defending most of Tyson’s punches and then landed a jab to the body that sent Tyson down. He got up only to walk into a straight right that finished the fight. A total of 13 punches were thrown in the 39 second fight.

Winner: Emalianenko (3-3) by KO (punch)

Clinchy McClinch (0-0) vs. Leonide Emeric (0-2)

McClinch started the fight off with a vicious shot and a body punch. He then went into the clinch and rained knees. Emeric took a couple and then tried to pull guard but he was unable. The final two knees to the head ended the fight in 49 seconds.

Winner: McClinchy (1-0) by KO (knee)

Thank you to all the fighters for putting on a good show.

Special thanks to 'Honey' Roy Palmer for writing the review.

Impact FC 6 preview taking place Saturday 8th March at the London Underground Arena.

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1394119994fc6.jpg

205lbs Steve Stone (2-0-0) vs Jimmy Sheppard (1-1-0)

Steve Stone had a good dubut fight for Impact last time out managing a win by armbar in the first round. With a few days to go, the word in his trainingcamp is that his morale is sky high and he's in tip top condition. A god result here could see him earn a place in the Battle for the Belts so no doubt he'll be going all out to win.
Jimmy Sheppard has had 2 fights so far for Impact, the first he lost to the up and coming Joey Kocur but he certainly made up for that last time out with a 51 second TKO. Sheppard is also in great condition and is no doubt looking to upset Stone's plans.
These 2 guys are so equally matched it's unreal, both being multi skilled in a variety of disciplines and both being blue belts in bjj.

My prediction: It could be either of these 2 walking away with the winners bonus but I think I'm going to have to go with the underdog Jimmy Sheppard, he has the slightly stronger chin and has already proved he has good hands. Sheppard by TKO 2nd round.

155 lbs Ross Peerson (2-0-0) vs Jimmy Karl (2-0-0)

Ross "Bully" Peerson currently on a winning streak of 2 fights has already proved he knows how to win. Both fights going all the way to decision so his stamina is not in question either. He's looking in fine condition but his modd isn't as good as it could be, rumours are flying around that his managers laundry team have recently been fired and he's still running around in the same stinky clothes he had on last fight, it's starting to effect his morale.
Jimmy "Killer" Karl is also on a 2 fight win streak, however he won his in a very different style all together. Neither of his 2 fights have lasted more than 2 minutes, his last one just 18 seconds. 2 wins by Kimura and arm triangle shows that this guy likes to take thing things down and make them tap. His morale is slightly better than Peerson's, will it be enough to win. Both these guys could be fighting for a top 4 place in their division.

My prediction: Not much in this one, both having identical skills but both seem to fight very differently. Karl to win by submission in the 2nd round.

265+lbs Jean Rayal (1-0-0) vs Maximillian Xezeron (1-0-0)

Jean Rayal had an impressive win against Boris Kostov last time out so it really shows this fighter is determined. He's going to need his determination this fight too as he's facing the mighty Xezeron this time. This fighter is in fine condition and has high spitits, he's really keen to get in the cage and put a good show on.
Maximillian Xezeron will be stepping into the cage in tip top condition. He trains in New York but his manager is so switched on, he's booked him an early flight so he can arrive in London and rest up for a day or so getting his mind ready for the big fight. It's going to be a real battle, both of these fighters could end up in the top 4 after 1 more win.

My prediction: This is a tough one to call, Raynal the boxer, Xezeron prefering the Muay Thai style of fighting. I'll have to go with Xerzeron, last time out he proved he had lethal leg kicks and that could be just enough to tire out Raynal so he can go in for the kill. Xezeron by TKO in the 2nd round.

170lbs Chris Francisco (2-0-0) vs Sam Jhonson (1-0-0)

Chris "Scrap" Francisco scored an impressive traingle with just 3 seconds to go in the last round, I'm guessing he won't leave it that close to the wire with a top 4 spot riding on this fight. This purple betled bjj fighter looks in great condition but there could be a problem with the managers washing machine as he's still wearing the same shorts from last fight and it's effecting the fighters morale. His manager seems on the ball the ball tho and I should imagine this will be sorted any day now.

Sam "J Bomb" Jhonson is making his debut for Impact this Saturday, he's in fine condition and raring to get into the cage and cause an upset. He won his 1st fight by decision so he has the legs to go the distance. Also a purple belt in bjj so it should be a great show for the fans.

My prediction: I think Francisco could just take this fight, Francisco submission in the 3rd round.

170lbs Entoni Shemtis (3-1-0) vs Master Floppzzy (3-1-0)

This should be a real ground , both are experts in the art of bjj, both have earnt their brown belts long ago and both have the experience to have a few tricks up their sleeve. Floppzzy is a submission specialist winning all his fights by submission, Shmetis likes to mix it up a little winning by submission, KO punch and decisions.

My prediction: I think Floppzzy seems to be in slightly better shape and his fighter is in a great state of mind, I think that could just tip the scales and reward Floppzzy with the win, Floppzzy by submission in the 2nd round.

265+lbs Paul Hedger (1-1-0) vs Louis CK (0-0-0)

Paul " Jackhammer" Hedger steps will be climbing in to the cage after his last fight didn't go to plan, he lost by decision after being tied up in the clinch, quite a difference from his previous fight when he stopped his opponent in the first 5 seconds of the first round. I'm sure he'll be looking to set the record straight with this fight with those fast hands of his.

Louis CK will be making his debut for Impact and it will also be his first fight. He's in fanatstic shape and high spirits. This looks like it could be a stand up scrap, Hedger has dangerous hands but will CK be able to tie them up and go for the kill.

My prediction: As CK is a complete unknown, I'll have to go with the slightly more experienced and proven record of Hedger. Hedger by TKO in round 2.

155lbs Moo Mcloed (1-0-0) vs Taisho Kanji (0-0-0)

Both fighters making their ebuts for Impact, Moo "The Ears" Mcloed having 1 win already under his belt. Mcloed looking in tip top condition, Kanji is starting to look tired already and with his manager appearing to have gone on extended holiday, it doesn't look like Kanji is going to stop training meaning he could be open to a KO. Hopefully his manager will make a return in time for the fight otherwise it could be Kanji's first and last fight.

My prediction; If they were both in great conditon, it could be difficult to decide, however I expect Kanji will have to be helped into the cage as he'll be so tired it makes this decision the easiest of the card. Mcloed by TKO in the 1st round.

170lbs Alex Jefferson (2-1-) vs Lincoln Osiris (0-0-0)

Alex " Honey Badger" Jefferson is no stranger to Impact fans. Handy on the ground with dangerous ground and pound, he'll be looking for another first round TKO no doubt. He's been training hard but he needs to be carfeul, if he doesn't stop training soon he end up being drained come fight night and could lose the fight just from lack of energy.

Lincoln Osiris will be making his debut and also his first professional fight. Jefferson has lost 1 fight to submission and no doubt Osiris will be looking to take full advantage of his slight advantage in bjj skills but Jefferson being the better wrestler might have something to say in reply to that.

My prediction: If Jefferson manages to be 100% fit, I think he might have the edge in this fight but as time draws closer to the fight, the advantage starts to lean towards Osiris. Osiris by submission in the 3rd round.

155lbs Jack Douglas (0-0-0) vs Boniface Boccasio

Jack Douglas, training out of Amsterdam will be stepping into the cage for the first time. An expert in bjj, and raring to make a good impression with Impact fans.

Boniface "Bobo" Boccasio has only had 1 previous fight, rumors say he has a great chin. He gives up a slight advantage in bjj but has superior wrestling skills. Both these youngsters will probably looking to to find holes in their opponents ground game.

My prediction: I'd have to go with the slight advantage of experience and wrestling. Boccasio by TKO in the 2nd round.

155lbs Nate Lamb (1-0-0) vs Gusserrano Cabrera (1-0-0)

Nate " Nasty" Lamb won last time out with a Kimura in the 3rd, impressive bjj skills and a solid chin could make him a fighter to be feared.

Gusserrano "Venus" Cabrera also has a great chin and the same level of bjj as his opponent. This should be a great fight as they don't come much closer than this. The only difference at the moment is that Cabrera is in slightly better shape, something that Lamb's manager will no doubt address in time for the fight and order his fighter to rest up until the fight. If he does, we should have a great show for the fans.

My prediction: Impossible to pick a winner under normal circumstances, however if I had to pick today I'd go with the slightly better condition of Cabrera, that could be just enough to get him the win. Cabrera by submission in the 3rd round.

That rounds up the preview for this Saturday's event.

As usual, there will be rewards of $2k for best submission, best knockout and $2k to each fighter for Fight of the Night.

Don't forget you can have your say on upcoming fights/previous fights/ to call out another fighter by using the Smack Talk thread, if you do and you are either the most entertaining or most active poster, you could pick up $5k or $2k per month for your troubles.

Today we had a chance to sit down with the power punching Mike Goon about his up coming fight

Reporter: Mike you've had huge success with your devastating KOs. What do you think about your up coming fight?

Mike: Well I'm a beast plain and simple. Does not matter who I fight, their jaw will be shattered. My opponent isn't worth a shit. He's coming into this fight with no confidence and we all know the out come. Expect another ko bonus for me.

Reporter: What do you think about the rest of the division?

Mike: After I finish this fight by 1st round ko, I want the belt and that means I challenge the #1 guy in the division.

Impact FC 6 review

Well it was a full house at the London Underground tonight and the fighters at Impact put on a great show as usual, 2 KO's/TKO's and 3 submissions, the rest all going the distance.

Stone vs Sheppard

It could have been either of these fighters walking away with the win tonight, but with Stone's manager going AWOL, Stone was left to sort out his training himself and went into the fight with less than a full tank, the result was as expected. He paid for it dearly with Sheppard putting him on the floor in the 9th second of the 2nd round. Sheppard now sits at the top of 205 division and looks good as he waits the results of next weeks event to see if he has earnt himself a chance at a title shot.

Stone by TKO 2nd round

Peerson vs Karl

Peerson carried on with his winning streak and with winning fights by decision. I thought Karl might have been able to stop this one as looked more impressive as he walked in to the cage but it wasn't to be tonight. Peerson now sits currently in the top 4 of his table but if his manager doesn't return he won't be getting his title shot, Peerson will be fuming after all the hard work he has done.

Peerson by unanimous decision

Xezeron vs Raynal

Xezeron didn't dissapoint again this fight, he showed how accurate his leg kicks are scoring an eye-watering 43 out 49 leg kicks. Raynal didn't let that stop him tho and managed a few takedowns, there were some full on ground battles with each fighter trying to get the win by submission but it was such a close fight it ended up going to the judges. Those leg kicks really paid off and the judges went with Xezeron, good effort by Raynal tho, I'm sure this small setback won't be the end of progress up the division.

Xezeron by unanimous decison

Jhonson vs Francisco

Both fighters were closely matched but I thought Francisco's experience might tip the balance. Both fighters seemed equally aggressive, both scoring takedowns and trying for submissions, Jhonson mixing it up slightly deciding to clinch a little too. A real close fight that went all the way to the end. A great debut fight for Jhonson.

Jhonson by unanimous decision

Cabrera vs Lamb

Both fighters walked into the cage slightly tired, Lambs manager doing a great job of noticing that his fighter was training too hard and getting him to rest certainly saved him from an embarrassing loss. Both fighters scoring takedowns but Lambing getting more, it seemed neither of them would get the submission. Cabrera sometimes deciding on stalling to force a ref stand up, he was obviously frustrated at how slippery Lamb was. Patience paid of tho and Cabrera was able to execute a perfectly timed Kimura near the end of the second round. A good fight by both fighters, I'd love to see what they can do when they walk in to the cage at 100% energy.

Cabrera by submission

Floppzzy vs Shmetis

If you like ground fighters this was one not to be missed. They seemed very equally matched, both going for the win, both being aggressive and getting the takedowns. Floppzzy seemed to be a little bit more comfotable on the ground able to improve his position more easily than Shmetis and Floppzzy was also relentless in his attempts to submit his opponent. He never stopped trying right up until the beel sounded for the end of round 3. Shmetis managed to evade 37 sub attempts but it wasn't enough to stop Floppzzy taking the decision.

Floppzzy by unanimous decison

Hedger vs Louis CK

Hedger clealry learnt a thing or two about clinching since his last bout. His last fight saw him tied up in the clinch, this time he used the clinch to his own advantage tying Louis up in the clinch. Louis was also letting fly with the punches and knees in the clinch but they just weren't as accurate as Hedger's. Hedger never missing a shot in the clinch, 36 punches thrown, 36 punches finding their target, impressive stuff and he also managed to finish the fight with an impressive finish, here's the last few words of the commentator;

Hedger gets in close and tags CK with a short punch that almost sends CK to the mat! Oh CK is in big trouble! He turns his back on Hedger, trying to create some distance but Hedger rushes him, striking wildly and CK goes down! The referee tackles Hedger into the cage to end the fight! Hedger is one violent man!

Ck is only a youngster and for his very first time in the cage, showed that he has real potential, hopefully we'll see him back in the cage soon.

Hedger by TKO 2nd round

Kanji vs Mccloed

I thought this would end up being an easy KO for Mccloed after Kanji's manager dissapeared after accepting the fight, leaving Kanji's training and energy in a terrible state. Mcloed and his manager were probably thinking the same as me and Mccloed came out looking for the win. Maybe Mcloed threw a few too many combinations and gassed himself out, maybe there is more to this Kanji than we first thought. Mccloed easily the more aggressive fighter and he looked like he would walk away with the win but Kanji turned the tables when he managed to get a takedown, Mccloed having to tap out a few seconds later. Mccloed is only 18 yrs old though and with his impressive KO power, he might have a long career ahead of him.

Kanji by submission round 1

Osiris vs Jefferson

Jefferson stepped in to the cage a little jaded from too much training in the gym and I think he paid the price for it. If they had both fought with full energy who know what might have happened. Jefferson is still young enough to learn from this and put this mistake behind him. Osiris makes an impressive start to his career, he could be one to keep an eye on.

Osiris by submission round 1

Boccasio vs Douglas

Boccasio was giving up a slight bjj advantage to Douglas but he knew he had the edge when it came to wrestling, something which his manager took full advantage of with his tactics. Boccasio's game plan was to go for the takedown and then control Douglas, knowing that he didn't have the bjj skills to try and submit Douglas. Douglas was content to be on the bottom looking for submissions but Boccasio was too slippery and wise. Not a great fight to watch but a great strategy that deserved the win. With a fighter and a manager that can pick a strategy and make it work to his advantage, they could be a dangerous opponent to anyone who gets in their way.

Boccasio by unanimous decision

Fight of the night went to Paul Hedger, a really great show of accurate heavy punching in the clinch.

KO of the night went to Jimmy Sheppard with a stormer of an uppercut in round 2.

Submission of the night went to Gusserano Cabrera, a great ground battle by both fighters finishing with a Kimura.

All the fighters are now $2000 better off for their efforts, thank you for putting on a great show.

The final top 4 positions for Impact FC Battle for the Belts will be decided after next weeks events, Impact FC 7 and the Saturday Night Rumble.

And RISING STAR Mike Goon still has 2 fights left on his contract, his next fight vs Brandon McKirk will determine whether he gets a spot in Battle for the Belts. I'm sure it will be a great fight and everyone will be watching to see if Goon can back up his comments made earlier this week.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the guys that are making an effort and hyping up their fighters or just smack talking their opponents. It really seems to have stepped up a gear, as it's getting more and more difficult as time goes on to pick a clear winner for the most entertaining or active smack talker.

Iif it carries on being as active as it is now, I'll consider making it $10k for 1st and $5k for 2nd per month, payable into their managers account.

Keep up the good work guys, it's your org and you are making a much better place to be.

Don't forget, if you see someone you'd like to fight or feel that someone cannot back up their comments, you can always call them out for a fight in smack talk. If both managers agree and it's a fair fight, I will set it up.
