turned off locations?

erm... how much we talking? ive got 1.5mill to burn

That would be absolutely plenty. More than enough to get going. Also the location is just flavour at the moment so whatever is your favourite really.

The biggest problem with KT/Grappling that I've heard is that the tycoon tools helper doesn't work. That thing is very helpful and I can't imagine running an org without it.

Also, just my opinion but with the lack of managers and fighters available I would definitely consider just concentrating on 2 or 3 divisions and perhaps even doubling them up. For instance 135/144, 170/185 etc. Nothing worse than having only 6 or 7 fighters in each division. It's boring for the fighters having to fight the same people over and over and makes it difficult for matchmaking.

I ran a KT / grappling org for a while there. It was fun, just not enough kickboxers to have two fully fleshed out orgs. The tycoon helper not working for KT & grappling is a bummer, but it's not anything you can't figure out on your own. I especially wouldn't recommend a grappling org, as you can't even search for/sort fighters via grappling hype and most fighters don't even have any. For both types, as they're specialty orgs, recruiting is a pain. Most managers have absolutely zero interest in doing KT, and very few dedicate a slot for a kickboxer or a grappler in the first place. Running an org takes a lot of effort, and expect to put in extra work simply because it's a KT or a grappling org.

You don't need to do write ups and previews etc, they are nice but not essential. A smooth well run org with good matchmaking, regular fights, and a slow steady increase in the org in terms of the roster, the arenas and the wages, and that's enough.

Personally I would like a grappling org. You could run some weight classes as open ID and some as restricted ID. I've had success in MMA and KT, I'd like to be able to dedicate a couple of fighters to climbing the grappling rankings.

Should be plenty.

So a normal org is much better? All the write ups etc do I have to be good for that do like event reviews previews etc?

Also you can often find people willing to do write-ups, rankings and other fun things like that for a weekly fee. There are some good writers out there that would step up if you started a thread to that effect. You could also send a mass e-mail out to all the managers in your org once you're up and running to let them know and you can find writers that way too.

I literally only lost money with my first KT event, when I started from scratch. Everything else was profit. With grappling events I think I lost money on the first two, then started to break even and finally started to make money.

As for how much money you need to spend, $400-500K should do. This way you can send out a lot of contracts (pending contract proposals take away a lot of the org money), hire arenas for your shows and prepare for the possible rocky start you might have.
