The Hardcore Fighting Championships return to the Icebox in St. Petersburg, Russia on 6/24/17 with an absolutely loaded card featuring 2 Super Fights as well as 3 title fights. This is one amazing 10 fight card, and arguably the best one of the organization's history. No one should want to miss this event! First lets discuss our two Super Fights on the card. "Honey" Roy Palmer 18-3 Current Underground Heavyweight Champion vs. "Dirty" Randy Curran 13-3 Current HFC Heavyweight Champion. This is a dynamic Super fight between two top 50 pound for pound Heavyweights in the world. Palmer has won 9 straight fights where 17 of his 18 wins have come by way of TKO/KO. Palmer has won 6 fight of the nights and 3 KO of the night awards. Curran is on a current 8 fight win streak of his own, 12 of his 13 wins have also come by TKO/KO. He holds 2 fight of the night awards while training exclusively out of Montreal, Quebec Canada. Both fighters are in their prime at 27 years of age and look to hold nothing back in this spectacular fight. I dare not make a prediction on such a tough fight, how about I just say don't blink! Vinny "The Crow" Hopkins 22-19 the current CEC Featherweight Champion vs. HFC Two Divsion Champion Cristian Tavares 15-1 is the other Super Fight that has a lot of trash talking to help make this one of the most interesting fights in HFC history. Both fighters are ranked in the top 50 pound for pound in the world and claim to be the better fighter. Not only is this a Super Fight, Tavares put his HFC Lightweight Title on the line as well to make it more exciting. Vinny "The Crow" Hopkins is a former NCAA boxing champion as well as 3 X Gold Medalists in the Olympics, brings an extensive background resume including several championship fights. He is riding a 3 fight win streak with his last bout capturing the CEC Welterweight Title. He has won and lost most of his fights by decisions, but don't let that fool you. Hopkins possess a great boxing pedigree with great stand up skills. Experience goes to Hopkins, Youth goes to Tavares. Cristian Tavares originally from Guadalajara, Mexico trains in Los Angeles, California. Tavares is the current Featherweight and Lightweight Champion of the HFC, he is the first to have done it in the HFC. He is riding a 14 fight win streak in which he has defended his titles successfully. Tavares is young, but also was a Olympic Jr. Gold Medalist before abandoning that to go to the United States and begin his mma career. This fight could show how strong the old lion still is or how the young lion will take over and establish dominance. Prediction Tavares by Decision. Devon Bailey v Yes Man Sanchez for the HFC Light Heavyweight Title and Randy Poffo v Russell Northrop for the HFC Welterweight Title are two fights that could headline their own events, but this is what makes this event so special for the HFC. We last saw Devon Bailey in a loss vs. Pena Pulkkinen (Cut) on June 3 in a Super Fight with Underground, but Bailey still holds the HFC title and is looking to defend it for the 5th time. Yes Man Sanchez comes into this with a two fight win streak, but it will be only his 2nd fight with the HFC. Sanchez has KO power, but most of his wins have come by way of decisions. Fight prediction, Bailey continues to defend his title by KO. Poffo the current Welterweight Champion is coming off his title win over Northrop by triangle submission at HFC 103. Northrop was making his first defense of the title when he succumbed to the Columbus, Ohio native in the 3rd round. Definitely a great fight before, and now a rematch is happening to determine who is greater. Northrop had a 3 fight win streak all by submissions before he himself lost by submission. Fight prediction, Northrop doesn't make the same mistake twice. Northrop by submission. Hardcore Fighting Championships are sponsored by Kaiser Nutrition.

From the fighting capitol of mother Russia, St. Petersburg, Hardcore Fighting Championship 106 once again delivers a ten fight strong card of glorious violence. On the first of July 2017, hardened warriors of all HFC weight classes, ranging from featherweight to super heavyweight, will enter the cage to claim a feather in the cap at the expense of their opponent. A stake that especially the two men in the main event will be hellbent to claim, when these two former lightweight title challengers collide: Lee Sang Seok and Ely Scrubs! The co main event will see one of the most dangerous and relentless submission artists in HFC and an equally eager striker go to work.

Lee Sang Seok (12-3; 3-1 in HFC) and Ely Scrubs (10-3; 4-2 in HFC) have two things in common. Both have tried and failed to snatch the HFC lightweight crown off of Christian Tavares' head. And both have bounced back with a victory to their respective names since. In order to crawl back the long, steep path to the top they need to string some wins together. But by virtue of this main event, only one man will do so while the other one is sent back to the drawing board again. The BJJ red belt Lee Sang Seok is an elite grappler, who was only ever stopped in his championship bout against Chris Tavares. And with 25 years of age he is still very likely to have quite a bit of development ahead of him. So it will be intriguing to see, how he honed his skills. For he will need them all against the arguably more versatile Ely Scrubs, who has an BJJ black belt himself and is no slouch, regardless where the fight goes. It might all come down to one question: Which one of these two warriors feels the more pressing sense of urgency to make another step towards a goal, that was once well within reach.

In the co main event, the bender and breaker of ligaments and bones, Shoei “Shark” Braz (19-12; 7-6 in HFC, 18 of his 19 wins by way of submission) would love nothing more than to literally get his hands on his opponent, Lucas “Beast” Marston (15-8; 4-5 in HFC; last UB super heavyweight champ). This is as clear a style match-up as you will ever find. Shoei Braz lives and dies by his submissions, having forced all but one of his victories by way of submission. Whereas Lucas Marston is primarily a fist fighter, very well capable to make his hands the deciding factor towards a decision victory or by way of soul crushing knockout. A style match-up like this has the potential to either become a grinding war of attrition or a frantic skirmish, where just one lapse of attention might very well prove to be one too many.

Also on the card:

Aloysius Wiremu (13-11; 7-8 in HFC) vs. Guillermo Mendez (13-10; 8-9 in HFC) has all the makings of a spectacular fight. In his latest fights, Wiremu collected “of the night” bonuses as if they were Pokémon cards. Four awards in his last six fights, to be specific. His opponent is the long-time HFC submission specialist Guillermo Mendez. Mendez has an impressive submission finishing rate of over 92% going for him and has been with HFC ever since HFC 12, collecting three submission of the night bonuses in the process. Two of which he earned himself within his last four fights. When these two long-time HFC veterans cross paths for the first time, not a single bonus dollar will be safe!

Not even the most educated fan of technical MMA can (without it being a bold-faced lie) deny one thing ……. slug fests are awesome! Especially when they include two big, mean killers! Nothing less than that is fully to be expected, when the following barn burner of a super heavyweight fight is about to go down: Kampatimar Shankariya (8-4; HFC debut) vs. "The Japafrican Goliath" Yokozuna Asashoryu (33-17; 1-2 in HFC). And you can take that “going down” bit and take it to the bank! The delightfully violent Shankariya has yet to be in a fight, that doesn't end by way of K.O. and/or even makes it past the four minute mark. As a matter of fact, in his twelve pro fights the only bout, that ever got close to the four minute mark, was the only one of his fights, which ever made it past three minutes. In the path of this 23 year old, hard-hittin' mauler from India stands one man. Notorious journeyman Yokozuna Asashoryu! This Behemoth of a man has previously fought and won his 50th pro MMA fight and is riding a four fight winning streak. But what may be more interesting and certainly will prove to be more relevant for the complexion of this fight, is that 40 of his 50 fights ended by way of knockout! And only a grand total of six of his 50 fights made it out of the first round. So this butting of heads figures to be short, brutal and intense.
