- Nothing changed as far as rankings in this update but Lightweight contender "Carlos "The Esteemable Ese" Villarreal" picked up another impressive win against a tough opponent and solidified his #2 Ranking and we thought we should update his record! -

- Checkmate Championship 1 Poster Released! -

videotogif_2020.06.04_23.45.46.gif?width

Since this is the first time the champs will be defending their belts, this event will be the first "Checkmate Championship" event, these events will be of up most talent with the Main event always being a championship fight! I also decided since this is the start of something great, the poster should be something new to try to match it!

With that being said I think now we have all the possible names for the events (Besides tournament names) and the requirements of them!

"Checkmate Championship" - Should be the biggest events of the org, far down the line these will be our PPV events. They should always have high hyped champions defending their belts along side top contenders on the quest to take it from their hands!

*Specially Named Tournaments* - These will be bracket style tournaments for crowning a champion of a new division or to develop a strong contender in a division to challenge the champ! We currently have "To The Throne" and "Hunting Gold" tournaments going on to crown our 145,170,185 and 205 champs! no further tournaments are planned as of now, but down the road they will definitely be back!

"Checkmate Contenders" - Goal is to have at least half of the card being top ranked contenders or at least have one ranked fighter in the top 4-5 fights. Fighters that hold the Main Event/Co-Main Event should be of high rankings and could be next in line for the the title with a win.

"Checkmate Fight Night" - These can be wildcards, they could hold a lower hyped title fight or could be cards to space out bigger cards or can even be similar to the "Contenders" cards. Fight Nights can truly be a lot of things. However like all events, they should always have highly ranked or hyped fighters taking the Main and Co-Main events.

I often try to name the events is advance, however recently I have been naming some "*TBD*" early on until the cards fills up so I can see what the proper name should be and even after that it might still change, so know names are subject to change sometimes!

265 Title Fight Main Event

( C ) Jon Nolan (8-0)(6-0 CC) VS #2 Crusty Bigg "Bang" (4-0)(1-0 CC)

The moment you ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! our MAIN EVENT will be for the Heavyweight title when the king of the stacked heavyweight division Jon Nolan (8-0)(6-0 CC) takes on #2 contender Crusty Bigg "Bang" (4-0)(1-0 CC)

The Paraguay Native champ Jon Nolan will be looking to keep what he earned in the tournament "The Crowning" where he took out the likes of Phy Ter, Test Run, and finally claiming his crown by taking out Brian Snow in the finale. With wins over the current #1 (Test R.) and #5 (Brian S.) contenders in his division he looks to add yet another top contender's name to his resume in the shark tank that is the Heavyweight division when he faces Bigg, but before we get to Bigg, let's talk about some of the accolades Nolan has, he is currently tied for the most KO/TKOs in Checkmate history as well as most org wins with Lightweight Champ Chief Aztec, and is apart of the seven fighters that have had the most fights with Checkmate (6), he is also the only fighter to have beaten #1 contender Test Run, who recently picked up a big win against Mo Murder. Nolan has only seen the second round in his pro MMA career once, and that was in his last outing for the belt against Brian Snow, where he got taken into the second round before ultimately stopping Snow by forcing his to tap out due to strikes! He has recently got a new manager with Jack Hinson, and he is currently 1-0 with him. The man standing across the cage from him is chomping at the bit to get his hands on the champ. #2 ranked Heavyweight contender Crusty Bigg "Bang" is a perfect 4-0 in his Pro career and will look to make Nolan number 5, all 4 of Bigg's wins have come by way of TKO/KO, his most recent being a Main Event win over Olusola Oni, after picking up the biggest win of his career he originally was supposed to take on rising contender Jax Chambers, however when Jon Nolan's opponent declined the offer Crusty was quick to sign the dotted line and had some words to say about current champ Nolan saying "Crusty don't know why he's facin some overhyped, underskilled bum but Crusty ain't a question asking kinda guy." such words could be considered "fighting words" which would be perfect considering, you know, its a fight. ha, I made a funny. Anyways where was I? Right! Crusty had some choice words for the dominate champ, can he back them up and hand Nolan his first Pro loss? Or will he join the long line of fighters that failed to do that very thing?

155 Title Fight Co-Main Event

( C ) Chief "Crazy" Aztec (8-0)(6-0 CC) VS #1 Simon Busch (4-0)(0-0 CC)

In our highly anticipated CO-MAIN EVENT of the evening, we will see 155-pound champ Chief "Crazy" Aztec (8-0)(6-0 CC) will be looking to defend his strap against the undefeated #1 contender Simon Busch (4-0)(0-0 CC)(Was Conquest's 155 Champion)

"Crazy" Aztec will be looking to send make a statement with his first title defense, Winner of "The Crowning" tournament, Aztec has taken his rightful seat on the throne for the lightweight division, but now he looks to put that behind him and will look to make an example of the rising star and snuff his flame before it grows too bright. The Mexico Native has an act for ending his fights quick and easy, 4 of his wins have come in just under 30 seconds! Oh, and did I forget to mention that he has finished all 8 of his fights? 7 out of 8 in the first round too! Aztec is tied for the most wins inside the Checkmate cage as well as the most TKO/KOs wins in the org, he shares those titles with only one man and its none other than the heavyweight champ Jon Nolan, who we will see in our main event tonight. Aztec is also one of only seven fighters to have had 6 fights inside the Checkmate cage! He has recently gotten a new manager and is currently 1-0 with Cherokee Nation. He is the only fighter to have beaten Lightweight Contender Carlos Villarreal, and he has done it twice! Their most recent was a clash for the Lightweight title, Aztec showed his supreme clinch work in that bout, landing 34/37 punches to the head and 12/14 to the body in the clinch before ultimately finishing his opponent in the first round. So far Aztec has looked unstoppable inside the Checkmate cage, who could possibly stop him you ask? Well, there is a former Champion who thinks he has got more then what it will take to take the lightweight strap right from Aztec, who is he? MR Simon Busch who is a flawless 4-0 in his Pro career. Checkmate was lucky enough to pick up Busch when we merged with Conquest MMA, Busch had all 4 of his Pro fights inside the Conquest cage and ended up getting a title shot, where he gave Steven Pelican his first loss in MMA and also picked up the belt while doing so. Fresh off his title win he will be looking to pick up another belt in this bout and add to his collection! The 23-year-old has 2 unanimous decision wins as well as 2 first-round TKOs, both of these fighters are very closely matched in skills, but it looks like Aztec will have the slightest of advantages in the boxing and Busch will have the lead in the Muay Thai and Wrestling, both of these fighters are blue belts in BJJ. Well enough of me talking about this fight, I wanna hear your thoughts! Who will take it and how?!?!?!

Another fight fans will want to keep an eye out for will be when Lightweight contenders clash in a title eliminator fight when #4 Lightweight Contender Yut Han (3-0)(0-0 CC) takes on #5 Manja "Picassso" Sha (3-1)(0-0 CC)

Both of these are making their highly anticipated Checkmate debuts and with big stakes on the line both of these contenders look to prove why they should be in talks of a title fight.

We will also get to see

(185) Tony Dentist Vs ge st

(265) Jeshwua Gentry VS Magnus Iii Karlson

(145) - Ben Sheeran VS Dechlan Tomsett

(185) - Qualco Torquilka VS Cesar De Costa

(145) - Ieuan Thomas VS Abunazir Kindzal

(170) - Jake Mount VS Brad Markzov

(205) - Henry Pallero VS Jo Jo

It is gonna be a great night of fights from start to finish! Can't wait to see the results!

- Checkmate To The Throne Finale: How They Got Here -

First up, the middleweights!

Logopit_1592036564308.jpg?width=558&heig

In this our 185-pound Title Fight, we will see a rematch for the ages when Marc "Mr. Clever" Vos (5-1) (4-1 in CC) looks to avenge his one loss in his pro MMA career against soaring middleweight One "Hit" Wonder (8-1) (3-1 in CC), but before we get further into the rematch lets take a look at how they got here as well as take a glance into their first fight!

Marc Vos made his way to the title shot finale by getting an amazing submission of the night armbar in the first round when he submitted formally undefeated fighter Raffaele Callegari in the first round of the tournament. Taking an undefeated fighters 0 is nothing new for Mr. Clever as he has handed the likes of Marv Nemera (6-1), Pierre Nikolas (6-1) and Raffaele Callegari (4-1) their first and only losses in their Pro MMA careers, and although One Wonder already has gotten his 0 taken away Marc will look to become just the second man to defeat him.

One Wonder made his way here by picking up a nasty first-round TKO (Strikes) win over Subaru Barakka back in the first round of To The Throne also handing him his first loss inside the cage. Like Vos, Wonder is no stranger to handing fighters their first losses. in fact, in all of his wins, he has given all of his opponents their first losses. Wonder will look to do exactly what he did in their first fight, what did he do you ask? Let us take a look.

In their first outing, Marc Vos was the undefeated #1 contender over the division and One Wonder was ranked #3. Vos had looked untouchable in his bouts before this one, he was a perfect 3-0 inside the Checkmate cage, all of his wins coming by way of submission, a true jiu-jitsu ace, One wonder on the other hand was 1-1 inside the Checkmate cage and knew he needed to put on a big performance to take his strike on the middleweight division. and he did just that, after escaping Vos' submission attempts he got back to his feet and dropped vos right at the end of the first bell! Then in the second round, he dropped him again and then made Vos get to his feet where Wonder landed the KO of the night punch sending Vos to the canvas out cold. Since then Marc Vos has picked up yet another submission victory and now has the most submission wins inside Checkmate with (4). With his most recent TKO win Wonder is currently tied for 3rd with most KO/TKOs inside Checkmate with (3). This fight promises to be one for the ages! will vos get Wonder down and retake his spot atop the divisions and become the first 185 Checkmate champion? Or will Wonder make the fight has the same result as the last and leave the cage with the belt around his waist?

Now onto the highly anticipated Featherweight Title Fight!

Logopit_1592036102187.jpg?width=558&heig

Now we move onto the showdown that could very well steal the spotlight from all the others when we see the man who was the 145 pound champion in Conquest take on hungry up and comer in Rikuto "The Dragon" Ryuunosuke (4-0) (1-0 in CC) take on Emiliano Blackburn (4-1) (1-0 in CC)!

Even though the Featherweight division is still very new to Checkmate the fighters in the weight class have wasted no time making their presence known! "The Dragon" made his debut one to remember when he submitted undefeated fighter Reece HC in his first-round bout for To The Throne, throughout his career he has really shown a great ground game, with 3 of his 4 wins coming by way of submission! This fighter has a few championship belts hanging in his home, but today he will look to add Checkmate's first 145-pound belt on his wall and send a message out to the rest of the division that he is here to stay! The man standing across from him will be rising star, Mr. Blackburn. since losing his Pro MMA debut he has gone on a 4 fight winning streak. Picking up 3 Unanimous Decision wins and one TKO win! He Earned his ticket into the finale by beating Donald Fisher in his round bout by Unanimous Decision (30x27,30x27 and 29x28) Now he will look to increase that win streak to 5 against his opponent and get that 145-pound Checkmate championship belt wrapped around his waist! Who will become the first Checkmate Featherweight champion?!?!?!

- Checkmate To The Throne Main Event Closer Look -

Logopit_1592037076182.jpg?width=558&heig

We are really getting spoiled with this card! A #1 Contender Featherweight, a Featherweight Title Fight, Middleweight title Fight, AND a #1 contender Heavyweight fight?! As well as many other great lineups! I need to take a breathe.. and get some sleep. But before I do any of that I need to shed some more light on what already will have all the brightest lights shining down on these two fighters! #1 Heavyweight contender Test Run (8-1) (3-1 in CC) will be taking on #6 Heavyweight contender Brian Snow (7-2) (2-2 in CC) and they both will be looking try to get another shot at the champion Jon Nolan!

Both of these men were in the "The Crowning" tournament to crown the first 265 pound champion for Checkmate, and both men fell to the same man, none other than the now champion Jon Nolan. Snow's however was in his last outing and it was for the belt. Now Snow will look to get back to his winning ways and Test Run will look to make it 2 in a row against top-level talent and start to make an argument for a rematch with the champion and this time, for the belt. But before he does that, there's a hungry Brian Snow that is not looking to be anyone's stepping stone.

alongside these amazing fights, we will also have as mentioned above a high stakes featherweight bout between Charles Manson (4-1) VS Magnificent Chulalongkorn (2-1) and the winner would definitely put themselves ranked high in the division and be put in the title talk circle!

Tyson Law is wondering why he gets no love? Who does he need to submit to hear his name in recognition? After earning sub of the night, he's starting to wonder what he has to do to get noticed. 5-1 record, 2-0 in CC, and waiting for the next man up.

I have a big fight in mind for Law! There are a few big fights in that division this weekend so I am waiting to see the results before I book it just yet. The rankings will also be released after this weekend and I can guarantee he will have a number beside his name! Also big congrats on his last win! That card was filled with a lot of subs so that just says how impressive that submission was! Can't wait to see him back in action!
