When i quit playing early last year, Puno had a 8-5 record and was the only fighter with the balls to responded to my forum posts looking for someone to headline against granite chin veteran Adam Pearse.

Fucking stoked to see how far you have taken him Karter, hope Puno snuffs Luatua's lights out!

----------------------------------------------

You're less than 1 day away from your fight with Robbie Luatua. What's on your mind?

Ready for war. That's been the motto through entire camp.

Preparing for a fighter like Luatua - that sounds like a difficult task - who have you been training with to help emulate your opponent?

From outside of gym we brought in (Carl) Creel and (Victor) Creed. Similar styles and heavy hands.

I thought they were retired in the Bahamas. They're almost 50 years old

They are Super Heroes. Always in great shape.

Fight night is around the corner. How have you been preparing yourself this week for the fight?

Been working with Don (Marciano) and Leonidas (Katsaros). Doing a lot of conditioning with my old man (Fidel). Trying to keep six-pack.

That's a high quality coaching staff. Keeping a six-pack for the ladies, aye? - What's your favorite ab exercise?

The one that prepares you to eat body kicks from monster like Robbie Luatua.

Fair enough. One of his kicks would kill most men. He is a monster in the cage, how is he outside of combat?

Like Americans would say, he is cool. Laid back. Makes a funny (joke). Great person, better fighter. I expect tough fight.

Have you and Robbie spoke much since agreeing to fight?

Talk briefly at fight pressers but it's business. Train, focus, and fight. Plenty of time to be friends after punching each other in face.

What do you think your opponent's greatest strength is?

Very heavy hands. Big heart. Can step up in gut-check time. You can teach fighters kick and punch, but you can't teach heart.

Do you have to adjust your gameplan for that kind of thing?

I dunno. Changing gameplan is for manager. I punch with big power and gameplan later.

Wrestling and grappling seems to be your only clear cut advantage over Luatua. Will you try to add it to your strategy for this fight? It was your bread and butter early in your career but it seems you've been shying away from it in your recent fights, taking a stand and bang approach.

Prefer stand and bang. Give the fans what they want.

What are your predictions for this fight? How do you see it ending?

One of us will be knocked out by second round. Crowd will cheer. It will be fun.

Damn, how the fuck did that go to decision with no Knockdowns...

I was far from expecting that result, I thought surely someone would go to sleep in a 25 minute fight LOL

When asked about the result of the fight and the lack of knockdowns and the knockout everybody expected:

"Manager screw up sliders? I dunno. I tried to get submission before end of fight because you never know what judges think. You can't finish everybody in this sport, and Robbie Luatua is tough guy, true fighter. We both landed hard shots in there and I am very happy with the victory."

On capturing his 3rd world title and unifying the Syn, EVO, and Ascension Heavyweight championship belts:

"Championship belts make fancy collection. Beating the best fighters and establishing yourself as top fighter in the world is much more important."

Regarding his future and what's next:

"Vacation. Will rest and recover before making a decision."

---------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Karter

1377428407lol3.jpg

"Puno just did the unthinkable. He's captured and unified 3 world championships in the top organizations of the game; EVO, Syn', and now Ascension. I don't believe any other fighter has ever accomplished this feat. He's the unanimous #1 P4P on the planet. It's not even close."

"There isn't a whole lot of options left for him on the table. We're trying to figure out his next move and his next opponent, but they're all hiding out there. Nobody wants a piece of him. Nobody's stepping up trying to get this fight. The only guy to make any noise was some bum from Mamado's camp."

"I don't know what's next. What do the fans want to see? Defend his title at Syn against an opponent he already beat? Go capture the CEC Heavyweight title? GAMMA Heavyweight title? I don't think these org owners are going to be ok with him retiring with all their belts."

"Bryant's an option but he's barely beaten any fighters ranked in the top 10 w/c. Everybody knows there's inferior competition in GAMMA. The one fighter he fought outside of the org dominated him for 5 rounds, it wasn't even close. All Bryant did was hold on for dear life. It was kind of pathetic."

"CEC - Soa Palelei vs Jean Pierre Garcon could determine his next opponent. Puno's beaten JPG twice already. Beating him again doesn't do anything for his legacy. Soa Palelei is interesting because he's from a rival camp and he has some hype around him, but I don't know if he deserves it. This guy is 4 wins removed from back-to-back losses and being ktfo out by Cyril Makarenko. Palelei would look good on the highlight tape, that's about it though."

"Then there's Syn' - where Puno really wants to be if he had his way. There's just not a whole lot being offered over there. Similar situation. Obelix De Gaul would earn a rematch with Puno if he wins his next fight, but does anybody want to see it? He already knocked him out. I don't think another win over him really does anything for Puno's career."

"And finally... does anybody even give a fuck? I really don't think so. The hype around MMATycoon is dying quicker than the sport of boxing. The community is a shell of it's former self and nobody really gives two shits if he fights again or not, except the org owners who are interested in his hype and popularity for their next PPV."

To be fair, Obelix would be a Good rematch if he wins his next fight. Puno has faced some adversity so I'd say just fight the best P4P opponent you can get and if you really believe in him you have nothing to worry about.
