My first big ID range after returning to the game

With 370k coming up soon and me returning to the game pretty much on day 1 of 360k, I figured I would do a write-up of what I had done in 360k and how it has worked out.

This is a managerial review, so instead of focusing on my fighters’ awesome and unique personalities, I’ll focus on the managerial aspect.

Also, I’ll not bother with the 25 year olds or island fighters, since that’s not nearly as interesting as the projects.

Now, since I returned to the game after 9 years, I had precisely zero fighters to start with. And so I swiped cash to run my own gym, and went on to create a large batch of fighters.

With that much time away from the game, I figured I wouldn’t be able to properly test the fighters even if I tried.

On top of that, I didn’t feel like straight up burning a few hundreds of VIP days to sack failed tests, and so I tested only learning speed.

As the final introductory note, I made all the fighters boxers without any clinchwork, thinking I would get up their wrestling and MT by training that.

That came to bite me in the ass a few months later, when I wanted all of my fighters to start fighting, but half of them had useless clinchwork.

The fighters themselves:

The Untested

Jake Summers

Jake falls into untested as I didn’t test his learning speed at all. And he has popped a good chin, very high confidence, but slow learning speed, unimpressive ko power, and not that much heart.

I can confidently say that I absolutely bricked Jake by having him fight straight from the start.

The energy loss from early fights combined with the slower learning speed has butchered his development and he’s getting fired when 370k comes around.

Nyah Hirst

This is where it gets interesting. Since I love Hare’s write-ups, I signed my best prospects to his 355k org, rather than doing the sane move of sending them to a 360k org.

So far, Nyah is an extremely fast learner, currently running at 5-0, and up to fight for the title. Hiddens-wise, the most notable fight is this one: https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1016307 where he popped negative chin message, but then shrugged off a combo without taking damage, so the chin might not be that bad.

The verdict is still pending on Nyah though as I’m unsure about his chin/heart. He’s lucky enough to have a good test fight next in form of a title fight against Wanderson Machado https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=356659 , so I will soon have a precise answer to how long-term-useable Nyah is.

I’m moderately optimistic though, since he shows decent KO power, and survived a fight against Psiris Fuhren https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=356659, who had been popping insanely flexible for long before the fight, so he had a large advantage in physicals in the fight against Nyah, in spite of which Nyah won.

Unless he gets easily ktfo’d by Wanderson, Nyah is safe from 370k cuts.

UPDATE - He didn't get popped in the first fight against Wanderson, so he survived the initial cuts. But then he got KOed in the rematch in the worst fashion possible, so he got cut.

Konrad Wagner

This is my star. By far the most notable fight is his fight against Ronnie Bass, https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1024120 , where Konrad proved to be rather impervious damage.

Ronnie started the fight by landing three body punches in a row and a head punch before Konrad landed his first strike. When I read the third body punch, I thought the fight would end with Konrad getting KOed within the first minute.

Well, that didn’t happen, and Konrad now has my first belt since I’ve returned to the game and is completely safe from the 370k cut wave.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361165

Wayne Scarce

This is another fighter I bricked. Tickers weren’t a thing back the last time I was playing, and I didn’t expect them to kick in so soon. Wayne’s already a slower learner and deppoping boxing from wond+ to wond-- really hasn’t helped.

He also doesn’t have much ko power, and his chin has yet to be properly tested. For that, I’ve booked him a pretty much impossible fight https://www.mmatycoon.com/scoutfight.php?fida=269302&fidb=361165 , hoping that that will do the trick.

Still, I need to be impressed in that fight not to cut his ass.

UPDATE - I did not get impressed, so I cut him, and never looked back.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361225

Julian Rourke

This one is dumb as a bag of rocks, certified by an IQ test. The main problem is though that he has pillow hands.

For that, I got him a hard fight https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1025550 where he got appropriately hammered.

No heart, no keep, so Julian is getting cut.

41a1.jpg

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361364

Bjorn Olafsson

Bjorn is a strange one. He doesn’t seem to have much ko power, but man, he is getting them submissions.

The most notable fight is this one, https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1025269 , where he got a positive chin message and decent grappler with ease.

Bjorn will be kept.

UPDATE - The chin message turned out to be a lie. He got KOed in a horrible fashion a couple of matches later, so I cut him.

19w16.jpg

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361383

Sergei Ivanov

Sergei started really good, scoring a couple of first round KO. But then, https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1021320 , he took a couple of unlucky body punches, and proceeded to get hammered into oblivion but a vastly inferior striker.

On top of the bad heart, he has bad confidence, Sergei is getting cut.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361577

Ethan Hawk

Ethan is a fun one. He has so much KO power that I haven’t managed to actually judge his chin, because once he starts landing, the fight ends.

The best fight in case is this one https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1012803, where he shattered a granite chin in 5 moves.

Still, Ethan will be kept.

32w9.jpg

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361634

Johnny Somebody

So, I wanted to try how bad of an idea is to keep a fighter that pops intelligent. This bad: https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1017989

He apparently had a skill disadvantage in the clinch, but still, Johnny fell apart once he took a few punches.

Johnny will be cut.

The Tested

After the initial burst of fighter creation, I had enough men to entertain me with enough fights, so I could afford testing fighters.

I'm listing them more for completion, and they are without images because I've reached the limit of images I can put into one post.

And I made two of them.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=362969

Richard Stone

If I made Richard straight at 360k, he would be great. But I made him at almost 363k, which puts him into a really awkward spot where he’s behind the 360k fighters and not really catching up.

Ten weeks ago, he was ~200 points behind my faster learners, now, he’s ~130 points behind. Not great.

But he’s got a solid chin and fights decently well, so he will be kept… for now.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=363432

Sora Izanagi

This is the only 16 year old I made. And the initial tests went well, with him having a massive learning speed, and popping solid chin + lethal high kicks in the test fight - https://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1015337

I booked him a hard fight to see his confidence and heart, but if he will have that, he will once become a star.

That will still take a while though as I made him at ~363k, so he's at the exact same, weird spot as Richard.

365k

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=365006

Jacob White

My first granite chin. And he has a power on top of that. And some heart.

I may have butchered his starting build, he might be a slower learner, but he has still won a KT tourney.

Yep, I’m excited about this one.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=365296

Jason Hightower

Last, but not least, Jason. So far, he feels like a small lottery win, with high learning speed, KO power of a living god, and a positive chin message.

And he’s about to win me a million in the tourney :)

Overall for the Untested

Overall, out of the 9 untested fighters I have created, 3 will be kept for sure, and one has a high-probability maybe hanging above his head.

I'm pretty happy with that.

UPDATE - The survival rate is, in the end, 2 out of 9. Still good.

Feel like I'm in a similar position. Rejoined the tycoon world @ 361k after 3+ years away.

Made some terrible builds (even at 365!!), but somehow got to 26th in the world, and had the #3 P4P island fighter (#1 w/c).

Feel like 370k will be my time, but also depressing to think I've got to cook those guys for 6-9 months

As for this, tbf you were at a 4k ID disadvantage and still beating my ass in the boxing until it got to the clinch where you said yours was useless

The useless was from a while ago, Rourke is at exceptional- by the time of fight... But you've got a point. It might well be that Rourke's durability is fine as he got rocked only after he was breathing heavily, and that he simply got outskilled in clinch + you've got monster of hiddens at Parker, so even above average hiddens would look pathetic in comparison.

I will need to think more of this.

Thank you!

I'm definitely interested in seeing how sparring effects the builds you made without clinch work, as i've never tried that personally.

I won't most likely ever do it again since clinchwork training is a hell of a bottle neck as it needs a triple-elite coach, which takes a lot of gym capacity.

As for sparring, I personally like to spar soon and relatively often. It's connected to the builds I make though - I like to build mainly boxers, which makes it imperative to get wrestling and mt up quickly.

With the wrestler I've made (https://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=367649), who's not mentioned since he hasn't been around for long enough to be talk-worthy, I don't feel any need to spar, at least not at this point.

I only create fighters with 110 clinch and I have to keep a triple elite coach at my gym anyway tho
