If you dont purchase the vip you will not be able to view chat when your vip or trial vip runs out. You will still be listed as a member of that alliance though. Actually you can see chat even when you have lost VIP. You just need to go to your profile and on your info where is alliance you just click on the alliance name and you will be able to go to alliance page and see or use chat. I think only in vip tirial you have automatic Tycoon Aliance. If you are not tirial/normal vip you can't be in alliance.
