Richard Kuklinsky is an American MMA fighter and LGBTTTQQIAA activist. He was born in Dumont, NJ in 1990 as Yvonne Simmons. He recalls struggling with his birth-assigned gender as early as five or six years old. As a teenager, Richard believed he may have been a gay female, but learned about the term transgender at the age of 16. In 2009 he officially changed his name and underwent gender reassignment surgery to become a man. He started his MMA career two years later.
