and Rex decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carter's guard.
Carter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carter looking for a sweep. Not yet Carter, not yet.
Carter controls Rex momentarily but Rex frees himself.
Rex working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Carter's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rex landing with the ground and pound.

Carter is rocked!
Carter wants to control but Rex passes easily into half guard.
Carter is still in real trouble! Can Rex finish him?
Rex passes the guard and advances to mount!
Carter seems to have recovered his senses.
Rex has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rex looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Carter covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
