Gomes has hold of Kiivi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kiivi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kiivi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

and Gomes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gaines's guard.
Gaines can't keep his opponent in guard - Gomes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gomes is looking to advance position but Gaines won't allow it.
Gomes uses his free foot to push down on Gaines's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gaines.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Frost shoots for a double leg takedown but Gomes sprawls well. He's pushed Frost's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
