The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Andreus Puno has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angle Iron.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Puno lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Iron has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Iron and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Iron drops his hands momentarily and Puno takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Puno, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Andreus Puno was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Angle Iron stepped up to the mic, saying 'best 2 of 3?'.

Iron uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tanahashi.
Iron moves out of range of the body kick.
Iron was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Iron scores with a decent looking hook.
Iron throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Iron lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Angle Iron has been cut.
A nice combination there by Tanahashi.
Tanahashi throws a sloppy head kick and Iron moves out of range easily.
Tanahashi punishes Iron's body with a nice straight punch.
Iron takes one on the chin but seems OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tanahashi cracks Iron with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the ropes! Iron falls to his knees and Tanahashi doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Satoshi Tanahashi!
As Satoshi Tanahashi got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: I learn lot. I win more now. '.
