PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Severo Del Bosque (ranked 3203 p4p, 332 weight class) and John Brown (ranked 2672 p4p, 291 weight class). Del Bosque comes into the arena with Mimosa - Drippin blaring out of the sound system. Brown has chosen Somebody Gonna Get It as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 29 - 0, fighting out of London, Severo Del Bosque!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 43 - 3, fighting out of Hilo, John Brown!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Bosque tries to bum rush Brown with a series of wild strikes but Brown uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Brown is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Brown throws a body shot but no joy.
Del Bosque seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Del Bosque sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Brown has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Del Bosque drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brown pulls his leg out and moves away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Severo Del Bosque dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Brown changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Del Bosque tries to avoid it but Brown manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Del Bosque to the ground. Del Bosque escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

No joy there for Brown, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Del Bosque stalks Brown and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brown's face. Brown staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like John Brown has been cut.

Brown looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Del Bosque with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Brown is keen to just control but Del Bosque is a slippery customer.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
