Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Furious Panda (ranked 4967 p4p, 469 weight class) and Gerhard Smakatron (ranked 5074 p4p, 474 weight class). Gerhard Smakatron will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerhard Smakatron!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panda looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Panda tries to clinch up
and Panda takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Panda wants to clinch up but Smakatron keeps it at a distance.
A countering left hand to the body from Smakatron misses.
Smakatron lands with a nice body punch.
Panda tries to clinch up but Smakatron circles away and keeps his distance.
Smakatron looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Panda closes the distance and clinches up with Smakatron, looking for a takedown. Panda pushes Smakatron against the cage but Smakatron circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smakatron stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Panda shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smakatron napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Smakatron really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Panda. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Panda is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Smakatron to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smakatron shrugs it off.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smakatron looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Panda is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Panda darts in trying to clinch
and Smakatron counters with a left to the body.
Panda tries for a takedown but Smakatron circles away easily
and Smakatron connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Furious Panda has been cut.
Smakatron buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Smakatron works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Panda with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Smakatron to score with a decent uppercut.

Panda shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Panda was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Panda has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Panda throws a right and a left that both miss.

Smakatron changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Panda takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Smakatron lands a really nice looking cross but Panda seems unphased.

and Smakatron counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Panda fails with an attempt to clinch.
Panda takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Smakatron ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Smakatron fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Panda looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Furious Panda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Panda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Smakatron gets caught flat footed, as Panda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smakatron wants to control the position but Panda says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smakatron can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gerhard Smakatron showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Panda decides to stand and escape the position.
Smakatron slaps away a takedown attempt from Panda, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Smakatron is looking to control Panda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smakatron avoid being mounted?

Panda closes the distance and clinches up with Smakatron, looking for a takedown. Panda pushes Smakatron against the cage but Smakatron circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Panda misses with a takedown attempt - Smakatron sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Panda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smakatron is fending him off so far but Panda persists. Nope, Smakatron circles away and we're back to standing.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Smakatron! But no joy.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Furious Panda.
I think Panda has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
