Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brandin Duncan (ranked 3392 p4p, 370 weight class) and Burt Smokebandit (ranked 3130 p4p, 339 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smokebandit scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duncan sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smokebandit lands with a punch from half guard.

Duncan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smokebandit pulls his head out easily.
Smokebandit working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Duncan is staying active underneath Smokebandit, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Smokebandit lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Duncan has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Smokebandit. Oh but Duncan has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Smokebandit goes limp - he's gone! Duncan jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Brandin Duncan!
In his post fight interview, Brandin Duncan started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Burt Smokebandit was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll not give up!'.
