PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leeland Lillard (ranked 616 p4p, 94 weight class) and Dexter Krampus (ranked 407 p4p, 58 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dexter Krampus!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lillard moves away from the strike by Krampus.
Lillard appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Lillard slips under a jab.
An inside leg kick lands from Lillard.
Krampus throws the left hand but Lillard avoids the punch easily.
A big left from Krampus misses.
Krampus with a jab.
Krampus jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Krampus comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Lillard moves into the clinch successfully.
Krampus misses with some punches.

Krampus has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lillard is trying to keep an underhook but Krampus manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lillard moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Krampus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Krampus has his foot on Lillard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lillard works his way back into a safe position though.

Lillard seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lillard holds on and takes a little breather.

Lillard takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Lillard scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Krampus scores with a jab to the body.
Krampus shoots in but no luck this time.
Krampus misses with a looping right.
A little feinted left hand from Lillard on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lillard takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The fighters circling - Krampus throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lillard was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Krampus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lillard manages to avoid it.
Krampus sizes up Lillard with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Dexter Krampus seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lillard turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Lillard looks to land a body kick but Krampus moved away.

and Krampus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Krampus might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Lillard thows a left - swing and a miss!

Lillard takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Lillard lands with a nice combination. Krampus backs away looking to recover.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Krampus fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lillard looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Krampus throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Lillard tumbling to the canvas!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Krampus loads up on a big left hand. Lillard felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Krampus looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Lillard can't hide his disappointment, as Krampus celebrates the victory.
