Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mohamedali Alibekov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rodrigo Batista!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista shoots in looking for a takedown. Alibekov tries to sprawl out of it but Batista keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alibekov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown attempt by Batista or perhaps it was just good defense by Alibekov, which made it look bad.
Batista misses with a low kick as Alibekov jumps back.
Batista tries a head kick but it misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Alibekov misses its target.
Alibekov scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Alibekov goes for a double leg but Batista avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Batista continues to drive forward.
Batista keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Batista closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Alibekov manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Alibekov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Batista has him pressed against the cage.
Batista goes for a takedown attempt but Alibekov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Alibekov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Batista is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Batista throws a leg kick which misses Alibekov's front leg but catches the back leg as Alibekov tries to avoid it.

No luck for Alibekov with that takedown attempt.
Batista keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Alibekov sets himself, and Batista steps forward looking for the clinch! Alibekov avoids it this time.

Alibekov wants to stall.
Alibekov tries to score a body lock takedown but Batista shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Alibekov is trying to maintain a safe position but Batista gets an underhook and turns Alibekov into the cage.
Alibekov is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Alibekov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mohamedali Alibekov will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Alibekov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Batista tries to avoid it but Alibekov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Batista to the ground. Batista escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mohamedali Alibekov is winning the standup battle so far.
Batista throws a right hand that Alibekov ducks under and follows up with a left that Alibekov also avoids with ease.

Batista wants to clinch.

Batista moves into range and clinches up with Alibekov.

Alibekov has gone for a leg lock! Batista slips out almost immediately though and dives into Alibekov's guard.

Batista is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alibekov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Batista has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The strikes coming from Batista are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alibekov is looking for a sweep.
Batista advances to full mount.
Alibekov is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Batista wants to control the pace but Alibekov is squirming around nicely.

Poor strikes thrown by Batista there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Batista can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alibekov is looking to escape.
Alibekov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Batista on the ground.
Alibekov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alibekov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Rodrigo Batista showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Batista is looking to control Alibekov's arms but Alibekov gets an underhook and turns him. Now Batista has his back to the cage.

Batista throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Mohamedali Alibekov has been cut.
Batista tries for a takedown but Alibekov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Batista shoots in for a takedown but Alibekov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Batista shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alibekov as he jumps to the side.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rodrigo Batista comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Batista has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
