Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tatsuya Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Egill Skallagrimsson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kimura closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Skallagrimsson is looking for a sweep. Kimura is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kimura trying to mount his opponent but Skallagrimsson defends it.
Skallagrimsson is trying to get back to full guard.
Skallagrimsson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Skallagrimsson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Skallagrimsson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kimura had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Skallagrimsson defends it easily.
Skallagrimsson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kimura has his foot on Skallagrimsson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Skallagrimsson works his way back into a safe position though.

Kimura escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Skallagrimsson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kimura is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like Skallagrimsson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Skallagrimsson is continuing to stall.
Let's hope that Skallagrimsson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Kimura actively working from the bottom here.
Skallagrimsson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Skallagrimsson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kimura shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Skallagrimsson's guard.

Kimura is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Skallagrimsson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Skallagrimsson has escaped and now he's on top!

Skallagrimsson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kimura's guard.

Skallagrimsson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kimura is just riding it out for now. Skallagrimsson eventually gives up the hold.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Skallagrimsson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Well, if Skallagrimsson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Egill Skallagrimsson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Tatsuya Kimura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Egill Skallagrimsson.
Kimura wants to clinch up but Skallagrimsson keeps it at a distance.

Skallagrimsson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kimura defends it well.

We've been told by Kimura's head coaches at Navy Street MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Kimura goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Skallagrimsson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kimura but great work by Skallagrimsson.

Skallagrimsson is working to tighten his grip on Kimura's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kimura has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Skallagrimsson is really squeezing tight and eventually Kimura passes out! Skallagrimsson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Egill Skallagrimsson!
