PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sava Savov (ranked 2936 p4p, 158 weight class) and Rin Rinzler (ranked 24374 p4p, 309 weight class). Rinzler is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Pray 4 Em. Rin Rinzler is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sava Savov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rin Rinzler!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rinzler throws an off balance right hand

and Savov moves into the clinch.
Savov unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rinzler lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Savov pulls guard successfully.
Savov trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Savov keeping moving, preventing Rinzler from controlling successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Savov is trying to control the position but Rinzler postures up.

Savov looking for a guillotine here but Rinzler defends easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Savov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rinzler is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Savov staying out of range there.
Savov is looking for a counter combo.
Savov avoids the body shot from Rinzler.
Rin Rinzler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rinzler throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Savov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rinzler is fending him off so far but Savov persists. Nope, Rinzler circles away and we're back to standing.
Rinzler wants to counter with a clinch but Savov pushes him away.

Savov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Savov changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rinzler fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Savov pulls guard.
Rinzler trying to control but Savov is working from the bottom.
Savov is trying to keep Rinzler in close.
Rinzler wants to control from the top but Savov keeps moving.

Rinzler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Savov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rinzler has managed to get both his arms back between Savov's legs - danger averted.

Savov pushes Rinzler off and scrambles back to his feet.
Rinzler throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Savov sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Savov appears to be looking for a big counter.
Savov is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rinzler throws a head kick but Savov moves out of range.
Rinzler fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Savov rushes Rinzler and presses him up against the cage.
Savov goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rinzler prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sava Savov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Savov lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Rinzler pulls guard.
Savov lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Rinzler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Savov defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Savov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rinzler's head.

Savov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rinzler, up you get!
Rinzler is trying hard to land a takedown here. Savov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Rinzler rushes Savov and presses him up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rinzler wants to break the clinch but can't.
Savov utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Rinzler looks winded!

Savov pulls guard.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Savov wants to sweep here but Rinzler controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sava Savov dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rinzler misses with a left hand

and Savov counters by moving into the clinch.

Savov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Savov trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Savov scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Savov closes the distance and pushes Rinzler back into the cage.
Savov landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Savov scores with a knee to the head.
Rinzler wants to stall.

Savov drops Rinzler with a big knee straight up the middle! Rinzler is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


Rinzler is rocked!


It looks like Rin Rinzler has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Savov lands a huge takedown. Rinzler is out but the ref is slow to react and Savov lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Rinzler lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sava Savov!
A relieved looking Sava Savov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Rin Rinzler spoke after the fight, saying 'Every loss is an opportunity to better myself'.
