Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alphonse Villeneuve (ranked 2646 p4p, 290 weight class) and Angel Morales (ranked 2247 p4p, 248 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morales throws a sloppy head kick

and Villeneuve counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Morales is looking for a sweep. Villeneuve is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Villeneuve is keen to just control but Morales is a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A left and a right from Morales both land. Nice combination.
Villeneuve uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Morales.
Morales connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Villeneuve seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

It seemed like Morales was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Angel Morales is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Villeneuve throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morales was covering up waiting for the punch and Villeneuve finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Morales working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Villeneuve doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Villeneuve manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Alphonse Villeneuve will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Morales lands a big head kick that sends Villeneuve tumbling to the mat! Morales takes a step backwards and waves Villeneuve back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Alphonse Villeneuve has been cut.
Villeneuve is holding his hands too far apart here. Morales throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Villeneuve is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!
