Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Chaelsson (ranked 133 p4p, 6 weight class) and John Riverson (ranked 374 p4p, 13 weight class). Riverson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. J.Ralph - Kansas City Shuffle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John Riverson looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riverson throws a body kick, spinning off balance

so Chaelsson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Riverson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chaelsson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riverson is looking for a triangle but Chaelsson pushes his legs off easily.

Riverson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Chaelsson passes into half guard.
Chaelsson lands strikes from half guard.
Riverson wants to improve his position but Chaelsson is controlling well.
Chaelsson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riverson tries to get to full guard but Chaelsson has control of the leg.

Chaelsson wants to control but Riverson is keeping him busy.

Chaelsson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Chaelsson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Riverson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Riverson wants to get back to full guard.
Riverson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Riverson wants to sweep but no luck.

Riverson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chaelsson is aware though and is defending well.
Riverson looks winded!

Riverson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chaelsson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chaelsson distracts Riverson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Chaelsson is in close to Riverson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Chaelsson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Riverson wants to sweep here but Chaelsson controlling him for the moment.
Chaelsson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Riverson is rocked!
Chaelsson stands up over Riverson, holding on to his feet. Chaelsson throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Riverson is out cold! Chaelsson lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
