Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lighty LightHeavyweight (ranked 190 p4p, 32 weight class) and Liam James (ranked 508 p4p, 76 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying James's choice of entrance music: Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liam James!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Liam James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
LightHeavyweight tries to clinch up
and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Lighty LightHeavyweight has been cut.
James pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
LightHeavyweight bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
LightHeavyweight seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
James looks to land a right hand but LightHeavyweight moved out of range.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by LightHeavyweight.

LightHeavyweight takes the fight into the clinch.
LightHeavyweight misses with a short punch on the inside.
LightHeavyweight can't find room to land a body shot as James controls the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

LightHeavyweight wants to clinch up but James keeps it at a distance.

and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

LightHeavyweight is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

James throws a looping overhand right but LightHeavyweight ducks down to avoid it.

James lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
LightHeavyweight looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

LightHeavyweight throws an uppercut from half a mile away. James sees it coming and avoids it easily.

LightHeavyweight has taken the fight to the clinch.

James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
James has had enough of the clinch but LightHeavyweight keeps him there for the moment.
James tries to break free but LightHeavyweight pushes him back against the cage.

James manages to break the clinch.

LightHeavyweight shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
James slips under a jab.
James misses with a right hand
and LightHeavyweight connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
James swats away the attempt to clinch by LightHeavyweight.

James blocks a jab.

LightHeavyweight moves into the clinch successfully.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
LightHeavyweight works on James's body with a couple of short punches.
LightHeavyweight keeps the fight in the clinch, despite James's efforts to push away.

LightHeavyweight breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
LightHeavyweight moves out of range of the strikes.
James misses with an uppercut. LightHeavyweight saw that one coming.
LightHeavyweight scores with a hook.
James scores with a nice right hand.

LightHeavyweight fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with James, pushing him back against the cage.
LightHeavyweight lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
LightHeavyweight blocks a jab.
It looked like LightHeavyweight wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
James throws a big shot that misses.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by LightHeavyweight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liam James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lighty LightHeavyweight's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


James cracks LightHeavyweight with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
LightHeavyweight lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
James might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
James lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
LightHeavyweight plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops James to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! James just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Lighty LightHeavyweight!
During a confident post fight interview, Lighty LightHeavyweight thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Liam James was interviewed post fight and said 'No one likes seeing their opponent's hand raised, but that just means that they were the better man today. My team at 3Band MMA and I will break down this match and make the proper changes for my next camp.'.
