and Gaetz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Heavyweight throws a nice looking combination but Gaetz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

It looks like Super Heavyweight has been cut.
Heavyweight throws a body shot but no joy.

and Gaetz makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

That has opened up Super Heavyweight's cut even more.
Heavyweight is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Gaetz finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Gaetz takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Heavyweight throws a hook but Gaetz blocks it.

Gaetz throws a front kick that sends Heavyweight stumbling back into the cage.
Gaetz lets loose with a powerful body kick. Heavyweight will feel that in the morning.

The cut above Super Heavyweight's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Heavyweight tries to move into range but Gaetz moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Heavyweight chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gaetz can pounce on him.
Gaetz is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Heavyweight throws a lazy right hand but Gaetz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gaetz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Gaetz counters with a nice body kick.
Gaetz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A thudding body kick lands there by Gaetz!
Gaetz throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gaetz throws a front kick that sends Heavyweight stumbling back into the cage.
Gaetz lands with a thumping leg kick.
Heavyweight has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gaetz.

Heavyweight walks forward, straight into a front kick from Gaetz.
Gaetz lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A slapping body kick lands there for Gaetz.
Gaetz throws a head kick that Heavyweight semi-blocks.
Super Heavyweight's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Super Heavyweight's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Link Gaetz!
Link Gaetz retains his heavyweight title!
A very excited looking Link Gaetz made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
