Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Saafir Nomad (ranked 3942 p4p, 202 weight class) and Andre Ward (ranked 7029 p4p, 272 weight class). Saafir Nomad could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Andre Ward's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Saafir Nomad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andre Ward!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward lands a lovely overhand right.
Nomad tried to score with a low kick but Ward checks it.
Ward's coach down at 3Band MMA ($800/week) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ward's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Nomad tries to close the distance and clinch but Ward swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nomad lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ward circles away quickly and effectively.
A little jabbing left from Ward on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ward is looking to clinch.
We've been told by Nomad's head coaches at Blanc Fitness Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Nomad paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nomad misses with a hook
and Ward counters with a straight right hand.
Nomad tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Ward counter with a right hand.
Nomad slips a jab and a cross from Ward.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ward. Nomad does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ward waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Nomad.
Nomad takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nomad fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ward swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A combination from Nomad does no damage.
Ward has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nomad misses with a two punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ward throws a one two combo.
Nomad is rocked!
Ward avoids the body shot from Nomad.
Ward avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nomad ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ward moves away.
Nomad shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ward eats them both and turns towards Nomad to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Nomad throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ward cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nomad is breathing heavily.
Nomad looks to land a left hand but Ward moved out of range nicely.
Ward drops Nomad with a beautiful combination! Nomad stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ward is looking for the KO!
Oh Nomad is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ward is stalking Nomad. Nomad circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Ward, and it's lights out! Nomad really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Andre Ward!
