The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mephistopheles shoots in for a double leg but Gallo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A nice side step and Gallo releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Mephistopheles fails with the takedown.
Nice straight punches there by Gallo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gallo.
Gallo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mephistopheles looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gallo scores with a body shot.
Gallo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Gallo stuffs the takedown attempt from Mephistopheles. Mephistopheles gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lord Mephistopheles. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Gallo counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Mephistopheles is breathing heavily.
Gallo punishes Mephistopheles's body with a nice straight punch.

Mephistopheles shoots in looking for a takedown but Gallo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mephistopheles's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gallo lands a nice hook to Mephistopheles's body. Mephistopheles takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Gallo is looking to slow Mephistopheles down with leg kicks.
Gallo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Mephistopheles takes one on the button.
Gallo cracks Mephistopheles with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Gallo has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mephistopheles to stand back up!
Mephistopheles is rocked!
Lord Mephistopheles's cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gallo lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Mephistopheles up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Gallo from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Mephistopheles's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Juan Gallo!
Juan Gallo is the new heavyweight champion!
After winning the bout, Juan Gallo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
