Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Muir (ranked 89 p4p, 17 weight class) and Dave Semenko (ranked 60 p4p, 10 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Muir!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Semenko!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Semenko cracks the inside of Muir's front leg.
Semenko has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Muir fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Semenko has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Semenko paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Muir has Semenko pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Muir pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Semenko tumbling to the mat - Muir dives into Semenko's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Semenko has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Muir is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Muir digs a right hand into Semenko's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Semenko's gas tank.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Semenko thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Muir if he has to take too many more of those.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Semenko jerks Muir's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Muir drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Semenko goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Semenko because Muir was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Dave Semenko! Dave Semenko retains his light heavyweight title!
A relieved looking Dave Semenko thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
