Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raycon Figg (ranked 3451 p4p, 118 weight class) and Thomas Schubert (ranked 2405 p4p, 95 weight class). Figg comes to the cage accompanied by Ten Ton Hammer by MACHINE HEAD. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raycon Figg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Schubert!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schubert just misses with a punch to the body.
We've been informed that Schubert has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Schubert moves away from the strike by Figg.
Schubert will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Schubert content to control rather than advance.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
You can see the frustration on Figg's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Schubert swings around for an armbar but Figg sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Schubert's guard.

Schubert pulls Figg in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Figg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schubert swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Schubert has his hands on Figg's head, controlling the position.
Schubert's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Figg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Schubert works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Raycon Figg will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Raycon Figg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Schubert.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Figg takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Figg here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

He's locked it up tight! Figg's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Schubert picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
