Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Luck!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson closes the distance but Luck moves to the side

and Luck counters with a takedown into side control.
Luck wants to stand but Johnson has his arm trapped.
Johnson tries to buck Luck off but Luck is having none of it.
Johnson is working hard here to advance position.
Luck lands a decent elbow from side control.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Luck wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luck fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The ground and pound from Luck seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Luck controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.

Johnson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Luck is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Johnson, into his guard.

Luck cracks Johnson with a solid left hand.
Johnson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson looking for a guillotine here but Luck defends easily.
Luck wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Luck missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Luck preventing the sweep.
Johnson is looking to stand back up but Luck counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Johnson.
Johnson is staying active underneath Luck, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Luck looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Luck tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Johnson scores with a hook.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Luck sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Johnson gets the takedown into side control.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Luck knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Luck regains half guard.

Johnson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luck trying to control but Johnson postures up.

Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Johnson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Luck doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Johnson.
Luck is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back!
Johnson is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Luck.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Luck's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Luck has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Johnson's body.

Johnson defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.

Johnson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Luck is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Johnson, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Luck wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Johnson can't keep his opponent in guard - Luck advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson tries to kick Luck off but Luck keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Luck wants to take a breather but Johnson is having none of it.

Luck seems to be working for a kimura but Johnson defends the submission attempt.
Johnson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Luck working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Mark Luck will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Johnson shoots and misses

Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Luck avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Luck is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Johnson pushes Luck off looking to stand but Luck dives back in and keeps control.

Johnson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Luck content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Johnson has locked up a guillotine! Johnson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Luck is holding on here and Johnson must be using up a lot of energy. Luck has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Johnson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
