CACC 12 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Harold Shipman (ranked 2036 p4p, 227 weight class) and Tobias Pancake (ranked 15774 p4p, 578 weight class). Shipman comes to the ring accompanied by I'll beat yo ass.. Harold Shipman had a look across the ring there at his opponent. He definitely means business

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Harold Shipman! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 18 losses; Tobias Pancake!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Nice takedown defense from Shipman. No joy for Pancake on that attempt.
Pancake tries to close the distance and clinch but Shipman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Shipman clinches up against the ropes.
Pancake drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shipman pulls his leg out and moves away.

Shipman gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pancake tries for a takedown but Shipman manages to get underhooks.
Harold Shipman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tobias Pancake.
Shipman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Shipman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pancake after a bit of a struggle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shipman is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Pancake can't fight it off and eventually Shipman manages to take the fight to the floor. Pancake looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Pancake is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shipman is aware though and is defending well.
Shipman trying to control the position from guard on top but Pancake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shipman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pancake swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

We've been hearing good reports from Shipman's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shipman is on top in guard.

Pancake pulls Shipman in close to prevent any damage.

Shipman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pancake manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shipman has Pancake in his guard.

Shipman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pancake's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Shipman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pancake is keeping the position for now.

Shipman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shipman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Shipman is posturing up here but Pancake has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Shipman tries to roll out but it's too tight and Shipman has to tap! Slick submission there by Pancake!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 13:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tobias Pancake!
Tobias Pancake decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
