Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Saif Karama (ranked 3451 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pekka Pouta (ranked 3640 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Saif Karama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Pouta!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karama misses with a body punch

and Pouta counters by moving into the clinch.

Pouta pulls guard.

Pouta is looking for a triangle but Karama pushes his legs off easily.
Pouta is adopting a defensive guard.
Pouta is continuing to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pouta looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Pouta looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Karama prevents Pouta from getting back to his feet.
Pouta has control of Karama's left arm, preventing Karama from doing any damage.
Pouta throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Karama misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Karama scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pouta doesn't seem bothered though.
Karama loads up on a big right hand but Pouta slips the punch.

Pouta throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Karama tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pouta is in Karama's guard.
Pouta has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Karama is proving hard to escape from.

Pouta slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Karama wants to stand but Pouta is controlling the position.
Pouta is stalling in the full guard.

Pouta lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Pouta tries to free his leg and advance position but Karama is retaining full guard.
Karama knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pouta on the ground.
Karama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pouta controls the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Karama throws a good cross that connects.
Karama connects with a right hand. Pouta shakes it off.
Karama cracks a nice hook into Pouta's ribs.
Karama lands a nice hook to Pouta's body. Pouta takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Pouta shoots in and bounces Karama off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Pouta stops Karama from standing up.
Pouta with a flurry of punches that miss.
Pouta trying to control but Karama is working from the bottom.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Karama is looking to stand back up but Pouta counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Karama.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Saif Karama will probably get the nod.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Karama fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pouta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Karama scores with a hook to the body. Pouta takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Karama gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pouta to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pouta stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karama swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pouta working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Karama's head.
Pouta is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Karama keeping moving, preventing Pouta from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Pouta rushes Karama and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Karama is trying to force a seperation but Pouta has the dominant position.
Pouta keeps control of Karama as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Karama looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Pouta decides to pull guard.
Pouta wants to sweep but no luck.

Karama postures up.
Pouta looking for a sweep. Not yet Pouta, not yet.
Pouta bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Karama's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Pekka Pouta will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Karama rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pouta moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Karama is pushing Pouta's head away, looking to escape. Pouta manages to hold on to the position though.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Saif Karama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Karama ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pouta moves away.
Karama fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pouta manages to avoid it.
Saif Karama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pouta decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pouta content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Pouta's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Pouta frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pouta trying to control but Karama is having none of it.
Karama is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Pouta thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Pouta looking to secure an arm triangle but Karama defends it well.
Pouta looking to control but Karama is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Pouta goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Karama is on top in guard.
Pouta takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Karama wants to stand but Pouta has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pouta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pouta wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Pouta doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Pekka Pouta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pouta has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
