Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fathy Ahmad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Jones!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones misses with an uppercut
enabling Ahmad to counter with a crisp jab.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Ahmad.
Ahmad cracks Jones with an open hand slap.
Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jones lands with a left to the head.
Jones throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ahmads head.
Ahmad has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones is working Ahmad over against the cage.
Jones misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jones misses with a punch to the body.
Ahmad is trying to break free.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jones.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones pushes Ahmad back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Jones breaks from the clinch.
Ahmad throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones gets a clinch.
Jones manages to break the clinch.
Ahmad misses with a two punch combination.
Jones is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Jones takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A combination from Ahmad does no damage.
Jones forces Ahmad back against the cage and clinches.
Ahmad wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ahmad is trying to keep an underhook but Jones manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Jones seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ahmad is in trouble now - Jones has advanced to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ahmad takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Jones lands a couple of good shots and Ahmad has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Ahmad is rocked!
Jones loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Ahmad hold on?
Oh Ahmad is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones drops a couple of huge strikes from the back position and Ahmad is in real trouble here! Jones lands more strikes and the referee has to step in to end the fight! Jones is delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jerry Jones!
After the fight, Jerry Jones was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
