Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Street Fighter (ranked 165 p4p, 21 weight class) and Manny Puno (ranked 169 p4p, 22 weight class). Fighter's entrance music is You Know How I Do It. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Street Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 2, fighting out of New York, Manny Puno!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Puno.
Nice defenses there by Puno.
Fighter definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Fighter on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
A thudding body kick lands there by Fighter!
Puno scores with a three punch combo!
A looping hook to the body misses from Fighter. Puno does a little dance to reset his feet.
Puno ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fighter moves away.
Puno slips under a jab.
Fighter ducks under a wild hook from Puno.
Fighter throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Puno misses with a left hand
and Puno takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Puno tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fighter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Puno somewhat.

Puno gets a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fighter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Puno is working away from the top position though.

Fighter is looking to improve his position.
Puno works his way into full mount!
Fighter tries to hold on but Puno postures up.
Puno tries to control but Fighter wriggling away.
Fighter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Puno working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Puno landing strikes, looking to finish!
Fighter tries to lock up and control but Puno gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Fighter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Fighter wants to control but Puno is having none of it.
Fighter is bucking up trying to escape but Puno cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Fighter manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Fighter, under a barage of strikes from Puno.
Puno wants to free his trapped foot but Fighter is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Fighter wants to control but Puno is keeping busy.

Puno working over Fighter with some ground and pound. Fighter looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Puno is looking to take a break and control but Fighter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Fighter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Puno is working away from the top position though.

Puno seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Fighter has his hands clasped together around Puno's back. He's all about the action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Puno lands a nice short elbow.

Puno is nestled in close to Fighter, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Street Fighter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fighter attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Puno throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fighter was covering up waiting for the punch and Puno finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Puno has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Puno wants to pass the guard but Fighter is keeping the position.
Puno is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Puno stays in close to Fighter's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fighter controls Puno momentarily but Puno frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter pulls Puno in close to prevent any damage.
Fighter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Puno is working Fighter over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Puno is fighting to break Fighter's control of his arms but Fighter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Fighter throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Puno throws a jab when Fighter was well out of range.
Fighter takes a swing at Puno's ribcage but misses.

Puno shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fighter is trying to defend but Puno finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Puno tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fighter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Fighter preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Fighter is trying to maintain the position but Puno is very close to passing his half guard.

Fighter is squirming around, avoiding Puno's attempts to control the action.

Puno avoids the attempt from Fighter to control.
Puno has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Fighter's face.
Fighter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Puno landing strikes from the mount and Fighter is in trouble!
Oh Fighter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fighter wants to hold on but Puno pushes him away.
Fighter seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Manny Puno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Fighter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Puno connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fighter momentarily.

Fighter throws a lazy right hand but Puno sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Puno decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fighter is looking to control Puno's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fighter avoid being mounted?
Fighter on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Puno working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Puno lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Fighter at a distance.

Puno moves out of range of the leg kick from Fighter.
Fighter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Puno.
Puno jabbing away but nothing is landing.
The fighters circling - Puno throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Fighter throws an overhand right that lands on Puno's shoulder, as Puno tries to avoid the shot.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Puno stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fighter.
Puno changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Fighter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Puno manages to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Puno.
Manny Puno is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Fighter will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Street Fighter.
I think Puno has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
