PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wilford Hayes (ranked 4701 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jagga Obidisson (ranked 2967 p4p, 251 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jagga Obidisson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Obidisson misses with a double jab.

and Hayes counters with a single leg into guard. Obidisson didn't expect that.
Hayes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Obidisson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Obidisson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hayes passes into side control.
Hayes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

and Hayes counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Obidisson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hayes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Hayes is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Obidisson can't fight it off and eventually Hayes manages to take the fight to the floor. Obidisson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hayes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Obidisson has eaten all the pies!

Obidisson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hayes did well to prevent Obidisson getting side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Obidisson is trying to remain composed but Hayes is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Hayes controlling the position well here. Obidisson rolled but Hayes kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Hayes is not going to allow Obidisson to sit and survive in this position.

Hayes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Hayes.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Hayes.

Hayes pushes Obidisson up against the cage in a clinch.

Hayes jumps guard but Obidisson stands there with Hayes around his waist. Hayes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Obidisson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hayes has him pressed against the cage.

Obidisson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hayes seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Obidisson for as long as he can get away with.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hayes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hayes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Hayes content to control rather than advance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wilford Hayes showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hayes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
