PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jasper Ghost (ranked 3804 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Togo (ranked 4095 p4p, 0 weight class). Togo has chosen Voodo Child - Jimi Hendrix as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jasper Ghost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Togo!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ghost.
Togo cracks Ghost with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Togo connects with an inside leg kick.

Togo darts in and clinches Ghost up against the cage.
Ghost is trying to pull guard but Togo turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Togo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ghost shoots in and drives through. Togo sprawls well.
Togo is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jasper Ghost. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ghost shoots in but no luck this time.
Togo throws out a counter right but Ghost avoids it with no problem.

Togo moves into range and clinches up with Ghost.
Togo slows down the pace here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ghost pulls guard.

Ghost isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Togo stacks Ghost on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Togo!
Togo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ghost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Togo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ghost to his feet.

Togo thuds his shin into the meat of Ghost's side.
Richard Togo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Togo moves into range and clinches up with Ghost.
A head punch on the inside from Togo fails to land.

Togo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ghost tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Togo defends well and Ghost ends up having to push Togo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ghost blocks the body kick.
Ghost moves away from the strike by Togo.
A slapping leg kick lands for Togo.
Ghost looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Togo is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Togo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Togo connects with a leg kick. Ghost looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Ghost takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Togo misses with a few strikes there.
Ghost half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Togo throws a push kick but Ghost slaps the foot to one side.
Togo connects with an inside leg kick.
Ghost looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Togo is fending him off so far but Ghost persists. Nope, Togo circles away and we're back to standing.
Ghost is breathing heavily.
Togo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ghost stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ghost on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Togo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ghost circles away quickly and effectively.
Ghost feinted with a counter takedown.
Togo gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Ghost counters with a takedown into side control.
Togo tries to escape but Ghost is in control.

Ghost working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ghost is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Togo has escaped the position, nice work there.

Togo is trying to get back to his feet.

Togo tries to escape back to his feet but Ghost has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Togo's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Togo is tapping! Ghost saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jasper Ghost!
Jasper Ghost spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
