Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Norman Young (ranked 25025 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Mendes (ranked 3672 p4p, 371 weight class). The key to victory for Norman Young has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fernando Mendes!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Young scores with a head kick. Mendes tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Young.
Mendes dives in for a single leg takedown but Young sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mendes moves in looking to clinch but Young pushes him off.

Young wants to control from the top but Mendes keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mendes pulls Young in close to prevent any damage.
Young has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Young tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendes is retaining full guard.

Young has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mendes to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Young is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mendes pulls down on the head and he's put Young to sleep! This one is all over!
